You are bidding on an extremely rare, original late 50's/early 60's-era Chevrolet Corvette amusement park ride. This was a kids ride, used on a enclosed track at an amusement park, and is the only one known left to exist today. It it 99% complete, and it retains the original Continental engine, wearing its original paint, and it spins freely. It steers, it has an accelerator, and the "shifter" is actually a "brake" that pulls back on a belt that slows the ride down. This is a very well constructed piece, and not some cheaply made item. Both rear wheels are chain driven. The wheel hubs have zerk fittings to allow them to be greased/serviced. The tires are mismatched, so it's clear that this little car got some serious use at the amusement park over the years it was in service! Other than the tag on the engine, there is no other markings on it to indicate who was the original manufacturer of it. The serial number on the engine starts with "54" so there's a possibility that this could have been constructed in '53/'54. Exact age is not known, but my guess is that it was well before 1960. The condition is suprisingly good given the age, and the fact that it likely saw thousands and thousands of laps around the track it was confined to. The fiberglass body is not broken, the frame is not damaged, and other than a part of the hood trim and the windshield, it's exceeding complete! This has been in my private collection for the past 20+ years. My intention was to restore it one day, but I have not got around to it, so I am putting it up for sale. Cars & Parts magazine did some research and a story on this car many years ago, and they were unable to find or document another one, thus giving us the belief that it's the only one known to exist. Properly restored, most Corvette collectors believe the value of this car could exceed $20,000, possibly even more. Pick up is preferred, but a crate can be constructed, and this item can be shipped via truck freight any where in the world. For sale is my 2010 Grand Sport Corvette. As you will note, this vehicle is in perfect condition and unique with the interior and exterior color combination. All of the windows have been tinted, side marker lights have been blacked out (Not Stick On's), rear tail-lights have been blacked out (Stick On's), rear spoiler GM Bolt on part, newer Michelin tires and custom engine covers. I wanted it to have a "Black and White" simple yet, fast & unique look. I think I accomplished the mission. If you are not familiar with Corvette's, this vehicle comes with an LS3 power plant, 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shift, sport and cruise ride control, heads up display, power seats, heated seats, memory recall seats, custom Borla exhaust, power telescoping steering wheel, dual zone air conditioning, Bose stereo. The car will go from zero to hell yes in about two seconds but, will get 26.4 miles to gallon at 70 MPH.The car has only seen rain one time. I am the second owner... first owner was from North Carolina so, its safe to assume its never seen snow. There are no maintenance issues such as motor, transmission, brakes or electrical. I simply can no longer justify keeping the car in storage for 3 months out of 12. I don't need the money so, this is not a "Fire Sale" but, I will accept reasonable offers.
