1978 Chevrolet Corvette Base Coupe 2-Door 30K original mile survivor

This classic Corvette is a 30k mile survivor; code 26 Corvette Light Blue (I have seen it referenced as Frost Blue) and represents just 4% of 1978 production with original untouched (except for maintenance items) numbers match engine, transmission, carburetor, starter, alternator, and with factory grease crayon marks still on the frame and chassis components throughout, and broadcast spring tags still on the coil springs. Original exhaust system still has its heat shields and clean catalytic converter. Never-mounted spare tire is the early '78 production "safety yellow" wheel as it should be. The beautiful Dark Blue leather interior - impeccable when you consider its age - still smells like leather. The AC still works, power antenna still goes up and down with the radio, power windows buzz up and down, delay dome lights and key buzzer still work, the engine runs smoothly and the car drives like new with a firm brake pedal. The brake calipers, master cylinder, brake hoses and pads were all replaced in 2009 along with engine belts, hoses and the like in the course of normal maintenance (when it was 31 years old). I would place the body paint in #2 original condition on a 1-5 scale, 1 being the best, with only minor flaws. Look at the pictures as they are accurate; the car looks this nice. Fiberglass is the same. Look at the chassis and engine photos as this is a “nothing to hide” car with only factory-applied paints and coatings on the hard parts. This means the chassis has not been painted, touched-up or undercoated in a pre-sale regimen in order to hide shortcomings. Same with the engine; it is what the factory built ( except for belts, hoses and maintenance items ) with no painting existing parts or swapping of original parts for aftermarket performance stuff. Grease crayon numbers are still visible on the side of the engine block from the Flint engine plant that built it in 1978 . The body mount bushings which are typically in dire need of replacement by now are amazingly nice and need nothing. Look at the body photos as this color can change with different lighting from light blue to white. Then study the superb gaps and panel alignment as they are factory-fresh on this no-hit body with much original paint still present. Some minor panel seam reworking and blended paint has been done at some point as anyone with a late 70’s shark will tell you how the seams shrink. And the original bumpers - still the original urethane and still in remarkable condition. Notice the stance of this car as the suspension (except for shocks) is original and ride height is factory-issue. Again, all the factory crayon marks on the chassis and components and much original frame paint still present amongst only minor surface rust / aging. Think NCRS. Tank sticker is detached and comes with the car (originally delivered to Walter Chevrolet in Raleigh, NC), as does the original owner's manual and service records. I’m in the Corvette restoration business and active on the national judging field. I see hundreds of Corvettes each year, and I can tell you that the ones on the judging field for "Flight" judging or "Gold" have been restored to "like new" condition. The ones going for "Bowtie" or "Survivor" are like this car. These don't come along too often. I would put this car in #2 original condition ( 1-5 where 1 is the best ). NADA Classic Car Guide: Avg. retail $13,800 ; high retail $24,200. Collector Car Market Review: #2 condition: $14,325; #1 condition: $22,000 ( Edmunds and KBB price guides do not do classic years ). - Extensively restored. Every effort was made to restore to original as possible. - Frame off done a number of years ago. - Took 3rd place in recent corvette car show. - Birdcage was replaced. Zero rust. - Very little rust inside and out. A little surface rust is visible is some places. - Everything works, except the Odometer. - All New brakes. O-ring calipers, Master Cyl, booster, hoses. - New vacuum lines under hood. New head light and wiper door actuators. Original vacuum cans. - New windshield. - Rebuilt engine, slight cam. Runs good and strong. - MSD billet distributor and ignition box. - Holley Street Avenger 770 carb, Edelbrock performer manifold, Hooker headers. - New 3” exhaust with Flowmaster Delteflow 40. - Mostly new interior. New Door panels, carpet and heat barrier. - AC vent door rebuilt using new gasket and correct pop rivets. - New digital stereo, USB and mp3 player. - Glove box and store bin restored, new doors and hardware. - New DeWitts Radiator, Stewart Water Pump, all new hoses. Correctly calibrated temp sender. Never overheats. - AC completely rebuilt. Converted to 134R with re-calibrated controller. Blows cold. Tried to restore system to original as possible, including every nut, screw, and clamp. Spent many hours straightening every fin on the condenser. - New front control arms and springs. - New rear spring, finished to factory color. - New rear control arms and bushings. - Have original hood and radiator. Hood still has original paint. - Have correct date coded intake manifold. - Have correct date coded jack. - Correct replacement steering coupler, with correct embedded wire mesh so the horn works. - Wipers and door rebuilt and works correctly, even windshield washer. - New door latches. All latch hardware refinished. - Door glass tracks rebuilt or refinished, new rollers, etc. - Polished T Top trim pieces. Issues: - Color is not 100% original. Original color was Sunflower Yellow. Interior is correct. - Missing factory carb, water pump, alternator, intake and exhaust manifolds - Some drips on paint on lower body. I can't tell if it's the paint or drips of fiberglass. - Scratch on wiper door. Has been touched up. - Transmission leaks at front counter shaft bushing. Although this just started after switching to synthetic. Trans works fine, but could use a rebuild. - Rear end half shaft yoke thrust bushings are worn. Needs to be rebuilt. - Exhaust is misaligned and hits the underside a bit. - Windshield trim clips are loose and the top windshield trim pops off sometimes. Windshield needs to be removed to replace trim clips. - Drivers side floor board has a crack. It was previously repaired, but still needs some minor repairs. Doesn't affect seat. - Doors do not have correct black paint in front section. - Steering box leaks grease. Could use a rebuild. PM me for more pictures.

1971 Corvette 454 2 dr sport coupe. Very clean car. repainted original color, original interior that is still in great shape, wear on seat edges and rear carpet as frayed behind seats in a couple of spots, as seen in interior pictures, Body is straight with no cracks in fiberglass, T-tops are in excellent shape and fitment when taking on and off is still great. Undercarriage is in very nice shape as seen in my undercarriage photos and video. 454 is dry and seems to be mechanically sound as seen in my test drive videos. Instrument cluster is in working order along with gauges, heater, lights, radio. Oil gauges needs replaced seems to work when it wants, Engine oil pressure is good. Engine does look to be overhauled at one point in time, But still seems to be in it original fashion. Nice driving Big block Vette, as seen in my test drive videos. 1990 corvette project or parts I bought this car from a long time friend who is moving out of state he has owned the car since 2011 he said the mileage is in the 70s I did not light up the dash to verify the exact mileage he said the car runs but won't accelerate ideals no problem he replaced the fuel pump and the computer did not solve the problem so he just parked it the car sat outside for 2yrs then inside the garage till present has sat since 2012 some of the dash is apart from when he changed the computer the hood has a crack in the front and one above the right front wheel the interior looks like it will cleanup had stuff sitting on the driver seat all loose parts are present tires look good looks like it has lots of options including ride control and the glass top with hard top glass top has a crack but still useable so if your a mechanic you probably could make this a driver with the desirable manual trans or lots of good parts car is sold as is where is deposits are none refundable so check with your better half any questions call bob 248 761 2805
