1962 Chevy Corvair Rampside Pickup The phone number for my Corvair Rampside is773 615 4790 pls call and I will be happy to answerany and all questions. I say this because texting andemailing is not my favorite way of communicating. For those who are unfamiliar with the Rampside Pickup, it is an air-cooled rear engine Corvair with a 4 spd. manual transmission. Rampsides were only made in '61, '62, and '63. A small number were sold as '64 models but were simply left-over '63s. Production numbers for the 3 years built are as follows: 1961 - 13,262 / 1962 - 4,471 / 1963 - 2,046 This truck comes from Oklahoma and has been in a barn since the '80s. The truck is mostly complete, missing only the glove box door and the vinyl molding on top of the ramp gate that is available @ Clarks Corvair Parts. The body is very straight although it has had a few color changes over its lifetime. There is rust at the bottom of the jamb of the rampside gate. A panel is made for this @ Clarks. There is rust in the driver's side lower quarter panel under the battery tray that is repairable and a small hole in the driver's side floor. The driver's side outer rocker has perforations but is not bad at all. The windshield is good enough for driving. The side glass and vent windows operate as they should and are not broken. Not shown are pictures of the bed floor which is very solid with no holes; surface rust only. The engine has not run in years but turns easily by hand. The brakes have no pedal pressure but I used the clutch to unload the truck off the trailer and it works fine. The truck has front and rear chrome bumpers in very nice shape. The door handles, grill, and headlight aluminum bright work is excellent. I did not buy this truck to restore but I did buy it to sell at a profit. With its bold styling, light weight, and air-cooled rear-engined layout, the Corvair threw a curveball into an American domestic market flooded with big, heavy front-engined sedans. The Corvair was a hit. The styling was, as evidenced by our lemonwood yellow over black example, timeless. This beautiful Corvair Monza Converitble has been converted to “Corsa” spec down to minute detail. The 140hp motor with four single-barrel carburetors, gauge cluster, emblems, and four-speed manual transmission are all genuine “Corsa” bits. As only 3,000 Corvair Corsas were produced in 1966, the conversion from Monza to Corsa spec was fairly common. This car is a thrill to drive and it packs quite a nice punch. It starts with ease and idles perfectly. It has no hesitation when accelerating and shifting gears is smooth and easy. It brakes in a nice straight line and doesn't have an unwanted noises when rolling a speed bump. We cannot say enough about how well this car runs and drives. It is sure to impress all around! The Exterior: The car’s lemonwood yellow paint, applied about 15 years ago, presents exceedingly well with very few nicks or imperfections. “B” quality, as the finish is nice but there is faint evidence of red on the inside of the driver door jamb. All chrome shines well, with no dents and minimal signs of wear. The powered top is in excellent condition and functions as it should, as demonstrated in the video linked at the end of this listing. The underside looks nice and solid throughout. Normal road wear is noted but overall this car is in excellent condition. Clearly a garage kept classic over the years. The Interior: Black leather is well presented throughout, with no tears or scuffs on both the front and back seats. The dash gauge cluster has been swapped with the Corsa cluster and all features work except for the vaccum gauge and head temp gauge. This was due mainly in part to the fact that the Corsa motor had attachments that would allow for the extra gauges. The Corsa-badged dash is free of cracks or wear. Glass is all clear and crack-free. 1962 Chevy Corvair Monza 900 - 4 Speed, Flat 6 Coupe Tennessee car with the same owner from 1965 to 2013. Original Bill of sale and paperwork including shop manuals and owners manual and deal book. Engine rebuilt at 69K. I bought this car on a whim a few weeks ago and have fallen in love with Corvairs but really want a later style convertible. No rust, No accidents, No body work ever! Super straight lines and great gaps. Doors close like a new car. Car was repainted over 20 years ago then put in storage and still looks nice. The fella I bought it from purchased the car from the estate of the 2nd owner (1965 to 2013) and got the car back on it's feet but I have just finished making it road worthy once again. Here are the things completed in the past 2 weeks. 2 - New performance rebuilt Rochester / Wolf CarburatorsPertronics Igniter electronic ignition module and coilTaylor 8mm wiresNew capNew front Brakes This car flat out runs great. Super strong and smooth. Fires right up no smoke. Trans shifts great and clutch feels like new. Handles well and drives straight down the road. Interior original and show's some wear but not bad for being 58 years old. Driver seat has a couple of tears in the material. Original radio is not hooked up. All lights, turn signals work as they should. Heat works. Car needs a new set of tires now. They hold air but are very worn. I was going to upgrade to 15"mini-lite style with better tires for handling but decided to move on to a convertible. This car is not registered and has a clean title, All sales final so ask all questions prior to making offer or buying. Transport is on you the buyer.
