Or you can simply come in and buy this 1971 Chevelle SS454 that's already got all the good stuff, including A/C and a 5-speed, and costs a lot less than what it would take to build it yourself. Big bad Chevelles never go out of style, and while 1971 wasn't the peak for performance from the factory, today they can be fortified with the nastiest powerplants ever devised. Many fans also prefer the 1971's single headlight look, which seamlessly blends with the rounded A-body shape. Thanks to a dedicated restorer, the sheetmetal looks quite good with straight panels that are worthy of being covered in glossy Cranberry Red paint. It's not a trailer queen, but the shine is brilliant and believe me, nobody's going to argue with a car that looks like this, especially not with a big block under the hood. Painted-on black stripes, a cowl-induction hood with pins, and correct SS badges are additional warning signs that this is not a car to be trifled with on the street. Chrome bumpers, nice stainless trim, and those four round taillights out back are every bit as distinctive as the engine note. High back buckets, a center console, and a Hurst shifter are the highlights of the nicely refinished interior. Correct black reproduction seat covers give the Chevelle an upscale look that's also quite comfortable, and the wide back seat is good for road trips. Factory gauges, including a correct factory tach, are recessed deep in round nacelles while auxiliary gauges for temperature and oil pressure have been installed down low where the guy next to you won't see them. The 5-speed shifter lives between the seats and the carpets are protected by matching black floor mats. There's a tilt steering column with a custom billet wheel to dress things up a bit, and yes, the A/C works like it should thanks to modern hardware under the hood. There's also an AM/FM/cassette stereo in the original slot and in the trunk you'll find a full-sized spare, just in case. But you and I both know the reason we love Chevelles is because their engine bays are big enough to handle the biggest of big blocks. In this car's case, it's a brutal 454 cubic inch V8 with goodies from all the big names. Equipped with Edelbrock aluminum heads, a Demon carburetor, a Comp Cams camshaft, and an MSD ignition system to light the fires, all coated in Chevy Orange, it's formidable no matter how you look at it. Power steering and brakes mean that having that big chunk of horsepower over the front wheels isn't a chore to drive, and the quick-shifting Tremec 5-speed manual transmission snaps through the gears with authority. There's also a 12-bolt with 4.10s out back, durable enough to handle the big block's power, and with twin Flowmaster mufflers the soundtrack is like an angry god is chasing you. Classic Centerline wheels are one of the better-looking choices for a street brawler, and the look will never go out of style. Staggered tires measuring 215/65/15 up front and 275/60/15 in back give it just a bit of rake that makes all the difference. This is already the Chevelle you were planning on building for yourself, all finished and ready to enjoy. All you need to do is pick up the phone and call! 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale Stock # 1653-DFW Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. It's not trying too hard with fake SS emblems, it's got a handsome color combination, and with V8 power under the hood, it's no slouch around town. A pretty V8 convertible for a reasonable price? Where do I sign up? It's not flashy, but it's attractive in its own way. The light yellow paint on the car is not quite Gobi Beige and not quite Daytona Yellow, but it's quite pleasing and certainly looks period-correct on the handsome A-body. It was refinished not that long ago and looks great today, offering a bright shine and good prep underneath that makes it really stand out in a crowd. Sure, red or black would work, but this one stands out for being different and we love the choice. The doors open and close easily, the big quarters still have that subtle crease running through them, and gaps are decent all around, giving it an honest look. Badging is minimal on the Malibu, leaving the flanks clean and smooth, accentuated by bright chrome bumpers and polished wheel arch moldings. The original grille is up front, the flat hood is a refreshing change from all the cowl induction units we see, and we have to admit that the car's simple look is really starting to grow on us. A black bench seat interior is a great complement to the light yellow paint, and it sure looks like all the soft parts inside are new. That's a reproduction seat cover on the front seat but the rear seat might just be original. The door panels are also replacement pieces that replicate the original look, and again, there's something to be said for it not being an SS. It just looks clean. The instrument panel and gauges are probably original and you get only the basics in this Malibu: speed and fuel level. However, the radio has been upgraded to a Sony AM/FM/cassette head unit and the dash pad is in great shape. The carpets feature correct heel pads for the driver and the right weave, so they look right and it's fitted with a recent black vinyl convertible top with a glass rear window, a rare find in this price class. There's also a big trunk with enough space for all your gear on a weekend getaway. The bright orange 350 cubic inch V8 looks very fresh and runs superbly. Pretty much stock, it's smooth, torquey, and reliable, just the way you want your Chevy to behave, and the brightly painted engine looks great in the all-black engine bay. A correct air cleaner lives up top and it's equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes, so driving is a snap. We might think about replacing that generic hose with a more appropriate reproduction piece, but otherwise there's very little to fault here. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is an unobtrusive dance partner and with highway gears in the 10-bolt rear end, it's a first-class cruiser. Stock cast iron exhaust manifolds feed a brand new Flowmaster exhaust system and you'll be pleased by the condition of the undercarriage. The most notable modification are those gorgeous 17-inch Torque Thrust wheels, which work perfectly on this car and carry 245/45/17 performance radials. A very pretty car with plenty of performance, room for the whole family, and a top that goes down. Can you really ask for more? Chevy positioned these as the cars that could do anything, and even today this handsome ragtop will draw a lot of admirers everywhere it goes. Originally Tahitian Turquoise over white vinyl, nobody will complain about the handsome white paint this Malibu wears today. It's been driven and used a bit, so it's not perfect, and the cowl induction hood isn't quite perfect, but the overall impression is a good one. The low-profile looks of the Malibu SS have aged well, and this one benefits from the traditional performance look of a cowl-induction hood. Even with that bit of performance image, this one exudes class and dignity, and with a muted rumble from its exhaust, it's got a quiet confidence that works rather well. There's minimal trim, although what is in place is in excellent condition, with bright chrome bumpers, a straight grille, and correct Malibu SS badges on the quarters. The bright red vinyl interior is a great contrast to the white paint, presenting an unusual yet period correct combination that truly stands out. Buckets and a center console are highly desirable upgrades, and the seat upholstery is expertly restored with correct materials and patterns. New red carpets and fresh door panels look fantastic, giving the interior a bright, airy feel that makes this car very easy to live with. The original gauges have been replaced by modern Stewart Warner pieces that fit neatly into the dash for a very clean installation. The two-tone steering wheel and column combination looks awesome and there's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the center of the dash. The trunk is neatly finished with red carpets that look very clean and the recent white convertible top stows neatly under a matching red boot. As a code 38 V8 SS, a small block V8 under the hood is a natural. The 327 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt with a few upgrades and dressed like it was at the factory. The original air cleaner still lives up top, although it's been chrome plated to match the valve covers, yet wears a reproduction sticker. A newer alternator, an Edelbrock carb and intake with long-tube headers add some horsepower, and Chevy Orange paint makes it look right. It's backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt rear end, so the powertrain is pretty much bulletproof, a recent Flowmaster dual exhaust system gives it a great V8 voice but doesn't betray this car's low-key demeanor. Handling is crisp, as Chevelles have always featured coil springs all around, and braking is confident despite the lack of power assist. Four 14-inch wheels with original SS wheelcovers look right and wear recent BFGoodrich redline radials that complete the simple, unassuming look. Just a tidy, no-nonsense Malibu, albeit one with a great look. Forget all the customs and flashy resto-mods, this is a car with the right look and a ton of potential. For one, it's got a thundering 427 cubic inch V8, a big block that's backed by an upgraded suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, and some pretty cool rolling stock. No, this isn't your garden-variety Chevelle. We'll admit that painting it bright red wasn't the best way to keep a low profile, but when the car looks this good, who's complaining? It's probably a bit brighter than anything Chevy was using back in the '60s, and thanks to modern paint technology, it'll look great for years to come. None of the Chevelle's awesome original styling was altered, so you get flying buttresses, those cool hood inserts, and a few well-placed SS badges just to make a point. They wisely left off any indicators of what lives under the hood, because even in red you don't need to beat people over the head with your horsepower superiority, and they'll be too busy admiring the great bodywork to worry about it until it's too late. Both doors fit well, the hood and deck lid close without a lot of effort, and clearly someone invested heavily in the chrome and stainless trim, because it looks fantastic. A black vinyl top adds a bit of sophistication and has also been replaced so it looks like new. The black bucket seat is likewise beautifully restored and updated in only the most subtle ways. Upscale-looking seat covers wrap around the front and rear seats, and with a center console equipped with a built-in clock, it looks very grown-up inside. The steering wheel is a correct-looking 3-spoke OEM unit that frames the original gauges, which amount to a wide speedometer and a fuel gauge, and the bright chrome shifter is linked to a Richmond 4-speed, just as the General intended. New carpets, door panels, and other soft parts give it an almost new vibe inside, and it's been upgraded with modern A/C components to keep it cool and an AM/FM/iPod stereo for easy cruising. The trunk area is pretty bare bones, but then again, a spare tire only adds weight, and after you see what's under the hood you'll understand better. The aforementioned big block is a genuine 4-bolt 3855270 casting used on the legendary L88 and L72 and it's been built for combat. With all forged internals, a set of 3931063 heads, an LS6 intake manifold, and a big Holley up top, it makes some pretty serious horsepower figures. Rebuilt about 300 miles ago, it runs superbly and is only just broken in, so it's ready to prowl the streets next Friday. There's an aluminum pulley system up front, a pair of Hedman headers, a Griffin 4-core radiator, and a big 160 amp alternator, so you'll never really have to worry about standing on it in combat. The Super T10 4-speed powers a 12-bolt rear with 3.55 gears and Moser axles inside, so it won't even blink at the major torque churning through the driveline. A full Hotchkiss suspension makes this vintage A-body feel a lot more athletic than you'd expect and lowers it by 1.5 inches, so it looks wicked just sitting still. Massive 6-piston Wilwood discs live behind each of those 17-inch Budnik wheels, which are cleverly designed to look like vintage Rallys and carry low-profile performance rubber. This resto-mod Chevelle was built for crusing or combat. If you want to rule the streets and take home some awards at the local crusie nights, pick up the phone and do something about it. It's got a great-running small block and a cool color combination. Need we say more? If you're looking for a slick piece of muscle that's both affordable and nicely finished, this '72 SS might be your best choice. Not perfect, but a great car with incredible potential, all for a reasonable price. The horsepower wars were all but over in 1972, but the Chevelle still looked the part of a street brawler. Thanks to the vast interchangeability of the parts, there's still plenty of horsepower to be had and you can give it a genuine SS paint job to complete the illusion. This one started out as a clean southern car anyway, so making it straight was easy. Cream Yellow with black stripes and a black vinyl top is how this one came from the factory, so that's how they finished it when it was time to start spraying paint. It's two-stage urethane, so a quick color sand and buff will make it look incredible, but even as-is, this car has presence. A lot of A-body enthusiasts like the later single-headlight look for its cleaner lines, and combined with the blacked-out SS grille, reproduction SS badging, and flashy chrome bumpers, this is one heck of a good-looking car. There's also a functional cowl-induction hood, which is practically mandatory if you want to build a high-performance Bowtie muscle car. The interior remains fairly stock, and with black bench seats it has a purposeful look that serves the Chevelle quite well. The seat covers are new as is the dash pad, so it looks and feels fresh when you slide behind the wheel. The door panels and perhaps even the carpets are new, too, so everything has just the right look with nothing looking too old or too new. Note that this is a factory A/C car, which is always nice, and it features round gauges with a tachometer, strongly suggesting that it's a real-deal SS. There is no radio, but that only means that you can install the sound system of your choice without having to undo a bunch of someone else's work, or even just install a block-off plate and go the hardcore route. The trunk is remarkably clean, showing correct spatter-finish paint, a reproduction mat, and a full-sized spare tire with jack assembly. GM was still doing their best to deliver horsepower in 1972 and offered a wide variety of engines in the mid-sized Chevelle. A smooth 350 cubic inch V8 was how this one came from the factory and this is the original, numbers-matching engine. It's painted Chevy Orange, and topped with a 4-barrel intake manifold and carburetor to help build horsepower. It looks quite correct, especially with that cowl induction air cleaner, and there's lots of recent equipment, including the alternator and brake master cylinder. A snarky dual exhaust system gives the big block a baritone rumble and with a TH350 3-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear end, you don't have to worry about breakage if you get on the loud pedal now and then. The chassis is fairly original and quite solid with no rust issues to speak of, and it sits right with a bit of rake for a hot-rod attitude. Classic charcoal-colored 15-inch SS wheels wear fat 225/70/15 white-letter radials. A big, bad Chevelle for not a lot of money, this is your opportunity to get into an attractive and nicely sorted piece of muscle that's ready to enjoy. It's also quite affordably priced, so if you've been looking for a clean A-body that wouldn't cost you everything you have, this is a great choice. This is one vivid car, I'll give you that, and it does tend to stand out in a crowd of Cranberry Red Chevelles. I like the ultra-clean look that they used, skipping the usual stripes and instead focusing on getting the basics right. That means straight sheetmetal, good gaps, and doors that open and close like they should. The paint was done a few years ago, yet still shines up nicely and actually highlights the many interesting shapes on the Chevelle, from the steel cowl-induction hood to the bulging fenders that often go overlooked with other colors. A blacked-out SS grille is simple and elegant, and bright chrome bumpers look great against the blue paint. It's been mostly de-badged, although the original Chevelle script emblem remains on the deck lid and there are a few SS badges as needed. The black bench seat interior is what you'd expect from a battle-hardened veteran with power like this. It's unassuming and comfortable, and doesn't seem to be trying too hard to be cool. With heavy-duty hardware underneath, the dash was reworked to better keep an eye on it, including a set of voltage, temperature, and oil pressure gauges mounted under the dash. And a column shifter is just plain mean; you don't keep that unless you can run seriously fast. There is no radio, just a block-off plate, which also signifies that performance was paramount to the builder. On the other hand, you get factory A/C (not currently functional but it's complete) so this car isn't totally crude. The seat covers show almost no wear, the carpets are nicely kept, and it's possible that those are the original door panels. Glance in the trunk and you get matching black carpets, spatter-finish paint, and a full-sized spare for emergencies. Just because it's affordable doesn't mean this car cuts corners. The 350 cubic inch V8 is a later block, perhaps from the late '70s or early '80s, that doesn't really make a difference in terms of performance, because this is a very strong runner. It's pretty correct-looking, with a dual-snorkel air cleaner, Chevy Orange paint on the block, and some chrome valve covers as dress-up, but few folks will know that's not how they came. There's a 4-barrel carburetor up top, but it still exhales through cast iron exhaust manifolds, which are great for controlling noise and heat and they don't leak like headers do. They dump into a full Magnaflow exhaust system with X-pipe, so it sounds seriously nasty and we love the chrome tips poking out from under the rear bumper. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission shifts quickly and smoothly and out back there's a 10-bolt rear end that's sturdy enough for small block street duty. Flashy SS wheels give it a factory performance look, complete with 215/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear white-letter radials. Not exactly a sleeper, but this Chevelle packs more heat than you'd expect from its unassuming looks. An impressive machine that gets even better from behind the wheel. Finished in what appears to be Candyapple Red in place of the original LeMans Blue, this Yenko tribute certainly looks the part of one of the era's most potent street cars. The body and paint were restored a few years ago, and it's clear that someone has taken exceptional care of the car ever since. Sure, it's been driven, because no man can resist the siren song of a big block and a manual transmission, but it has also been carefully washed and waxed, leaving a beautiful, smooth finish. The red paint is simply gorgeous in person, deep and rich, and with bright white Yenko stripes on top, this is a car that's impossible to ignore. There is a correct white vinyl top that's in great shape and all the chrome has been polished up so it glitters like it's fresh from the showroom. However, it isn't until you see it in person that you get a full appreciation for how nice this car really is. Inside it's the same story. Like the bodywork, the seats were upgraded from frumpy to fantastic with fresh seat covers and correct sYc decals on the headrests (yes, decals were how Yenko did it). The black seats were probably recovered when the car was repainted, and show very little wear today. A three-spoke steering wheel is original equipment and in surprisingly good shape, and the gauges appear to be the originals, which are just now starting to show their age. Fortunately, there's an auxiliary set of gauges under the dash to help out and a Hurst shifter atop the 4-speed gearbox, complete with cue ball knob. Like many performance-oriented machines, there is no radio, but that only means that it's ready for anything you can imagine, from a stock AM buzzbox to a state-of-the-art entertainment system that will draw a crowd at shows. The trunk is quite clean, showing none of the usual issues and wearing correct spatter-finish paint, so you'll have no worries about this car when you take it home. The engine is a thumping 454 cubic inch big block that has been nicely dressed in a proper coat of Chevy Orange and lots of chrome. Chrome valve covers with correct Yenko emblems and an open-element air filter give it a flashy look, and the Edelbrock intake and Quick Fuel 4-barrel carburetor ensure that it runs even better than it looks. Clearly lots of money was spent under the hood, because the inner fenders are beautifully finished, the big aluminum radiator looks like it belongs there, and the serpentine belt drive system ensures reliability. Long-tube headers feed a new dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers with turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle. With seemingly endless reserves of big block torque, this Chevelle is a blast to drive, and there's something special about running your vintage muscle car through the gears of a period 4-speed gearbox that makes it so special. The 12-bolt rear end doesn't mind the LS6 levels of horsepower churned out by the big block, and you'll be pleased with just how clean it is underneath. Classic Torque Thrusts now wear staggered 245/40/18 front and 275/35/20 rear Nitto radials that stuff the wheel wells perfectly and give it a more modern look. This '69 Chevelle represents the rare opportunity to own a vintage muscle car you can drive without worries. Fast and fun, it's ready to rock today! 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale Stock # 1517-DFW Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. One look at this 1966 Chevelle SS396 hardtop tells you all you need to know about why they're so beloved. It's a true code 138 SS and with a thumping 468 cubic inch big block under the hood, it's extremely potent as well as beautiful to look at. The color is called Pepper Gray and it gives the sleek Chevelle an elegant look that would look this good even on a vehicle costing thousands more. This car is about as close to new as you're going to find, and the finish on this one seems to amplify its tidy proportions, stretching it visually over the big wheels and slightly lowered stance. Restored 500 miles ago, the prep and body work were well done, and even those massive rear quarters are arrow-straight and the body is well fitted. Part of the Chevelle's subtlety is that crease that runs from front to rear, and getting that right is critical, so I'll just let the photos speak for themselves in that regard. That DuPont finish was clearly wet sanded and buffed when it was fresh, giving it a distortion-free surface that looks like a million bucks and almost all the trim was replaced. If you want a car that has been carefully restored to exacting standards, this car is going to impress you. The mid-1960s were all about simplicity in design, and like the exterior, the black bucket seat interior is a study in careful restraint. The only notable deviation are those low-back bucket seats from ProCar, which have been specially installed to accommodate taller drivers. Forget faux wood, the Chevelle used bright metal trim to contrast with the black interior, giving the dashboard a jeweled look that's like a fine clock or vintage stereo gear. The upholstery was all replaced when the car was restored, and has a very inviting, lovingly used look with no damage, wear, or other defects. Instead, all you want to do is slide behind the wheel, listening to the comfortable groan of the seat as you settle in, and grab that thin-rimmed steering wheel and Hurst cue ball. Upgrades include a set of auxiliary gauges whose white faces with chrome bezels look right at home in the vintage Chevelle passenger compartment. The trunk was also refinished with correct spatter paint that shows off the extremely clean floors underneath. Performance got a big upgrade as well, thanks to a fresh 468 cubic inch big block under the hood. With components like a 4-bolt main block, 10:1 compression, a mild flat tappet cam, Edelbrock intake topped by a Holley 4-barrel, and plenty of Chevy Orange and bare aluminum, it cranks out around 500 horsepower and enough torque to turn the tires into pools of liquid rubber. Power steering and power disc brakes are always nice to have on a full-sized car, especially one with this much performance potential. Underneath, the stout Muncie 4-speed feeds a robust 12-bolt rear with 3.42 gears on an Eaton Posi inside. This car was so clean it didn't need to come off the frame, and there's plenty of evidence of clean living when you look around underneath. Long tube headers exhale through a pair of Flowmasters that have that awesome big block rumble. And that lowered stance looks awesome hunkering over a set of 15-inch Rallys wearing staggered 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials. Documented with restoration photos and receipts, this is one of the best-driving early Chevelles we've ever featured and very few cars of any kind have this level of fit and finish. New timing chain, heads have been redone with new valves and springs. Has new 4 barrel holley carburetor , new water pump, & headers. Has 40 series flow masters dumped. New front disc brake set. Calipers, rotors, bearings and spindles. Has a 4 speed Muncie tranny that came out of 69 chevelle. Comes with new hurst shifter installed .Has a new wiring harness, new outside trim, new gas tank and I do have the 4 speed console. I had new fenders installed all the way around, no rust in trunk. I also have a new black carpet. I have the bucket seats that are all there and just need the new covers. Also have the back seat but its missing the foam and will need new cover. Car was painted ,and new motor installed but car was never driven. Motor starts right up , sounds loud and very strong. Car sat inside garage for years. Had to move out of the garage so the car is under a car cover. Car was vandalized not too long ago , front windshield is broke, passenger window broke, the front passenger fender is damaged, and the hood also has some damaged. Other then that car is all there, needs some minor work to be perfect. I have own the car for over 15 years and have done a lot of work thru out the years. Thanks for looking.

The Metroplex Marines Coordinating Council (MMCC) is a non profit organization that plays an active part in the DFW area administering to the needs of area veterans and their families. MMCC is proud to be one of the prime organizations to support the nationally recognized, "Toys for Tots" program. The MMCC is comprised of active duty, retired, and former United States Marines. The MMCC meets monthly to address ongoing needs, requests, and operations across the greater metropolitan area. Metroplex Military Charitable Trust (MMCT) was started in 1990 in Dallas, TX. It's mission is to provide economic support to local military personnel, regular, reserve and retired, and to military support charities and volunteer organizations. Such assistance has been as varied as underwriting every local Toys For Tots Campaign since 1991; providing individual grants to individual returning reservists, who have lost their jobs and/or homes; making grants to DFW USO, DFW Honor Guard, JRB Carswell Guard & Reserve Association, Texas National Cemetery Foundation, and DFW Marine Families. Its longest and largest effort has been to provide direct support to families of amputee, PTSD, and brain-injured OIF & OEF Vets as well as the Vets themselves through the North Texas VA Warrior Patient Shuttle service since September 2007. MMCT has helped underwrite and assist in the Cowtown Warriors Ball in Fort Worth since its inception in 2013. Through that endeavor over $175,000 has been donated over the last two years and is being used to provide direct assistance to Marines and Navy Corpsmen, who were members of the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment at Quantico, Virginia. The Trust, in addition to helping raise the donations, oversees the disbursement of these donations only to honorably discharged veterans, who have received Purple Hearts. http://www.metroplexmarines.org/ Please join Streetside Classics as we salute our veterans and active duty service members and support this worthy cause. This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle is one of those cars that demands a closer look, because the more you look, the more impressive bits you'll see. This pretty 1968 Chevelle is a nicely restored brute-force SS396, which is awesome all by itself, but throw in the unusual color combination and it REALLY stands out. Red is great, but if you really want to make a statement, this is the car you need. Following a recent freshening, this Butternut Yellow Chevelle started wowing crowds across the south. It's easy to see how that was possible, since it's amazingly straight and brilliantly restored to factory specs. Forget a color swap to "resale red" or something ridiculous like that; instead they gave it a glowing coat of correct code Y Butternut Yellow, a glossy two-stage urethane that has a shine for the ages. It doesn't look as fast, but I assure you that this subtle Chevelle probably humiliated its share of Mustangs back in the day, and that color was probably used like bait. Correct black SS stripes were applied around the nose and down along the rockers, and they work well with the traditional blacked-out SS grille and factory hood. Lots of fresh chrome and polished stainless was part of the restoration, too, so it truly sparkles in the sun. And the look of a black vinyl top on a light-colored car gives it a lean, elegant look that's a bit part of this car's charm. The interior was also restored to factory specs, which includes a code 766 black vinyl interior. This is a factory bucket seat/console car restored to a very high level with correct details throughout the passenger compartment. The upholstery correctly duplicates the factory stuff, and with a slightly fatter than stock woodgrained steering wheel and that ultra-slick horseshow shifter, it truly looks like a far more expensive car. Of note, this car carries factory A/C that's been restored using factory components and while the original AM radio remains in the dash, just above a trio of auxiliary gauges. The factory gauges include a somewhat rare tachometer and yes, that's a tilt steering column, so you really have no excuse not to get in and go. And just to give you an idea of how clean this car is, have a look at that ultra-clean trunk, which includes a reproduction mat and a full-sized spare tire assembly. The real story here, however, is the numbers matching L34 396 cubic inch big block under the hood. With 350 horsepower on tap, it's hilarious to think that this was only the middle engine in the Chevelle SS in 1968. Rebuilt to stock specs (like you need more?), it's fairly stock-looking under the hood, although it's definitely seen some use since it was finished. However, the Chevy Orange paint, freshly chromed valve covers, and an open-element air cleaner with proper Turbo-Jet decals on top make it look quite authentic. The A/C was converted to R134a refrigerant, so it's effective and easy to service. The big block is backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and 12-bolt rear end, so the powertrain is virtually indestructible. There's a Flowmaster exhaust system for that familiar performance sound that you've admired at cruise nights and while not detailed, the undercarriage doesn't' look to have any surprises for its new owner. Handsome factory Rallys are wrapped in awesome redline radials so it handles beautifully and looks very period-correct. If you're a fan of the unusual, then this Chevelle should appeal to you the way it did to us. Sometimes the best way to stand out is to not do what everyone else is doing.
