Same owner for 20 years. Super solid and ready to enjoy! It travels at highway speeds with great ease. Accelerates with authority. No clutch chatter. All gauges work including the speedometer. It holds good oil pressure and has no overheating problems. Powered by the dependable 235 6-cylinder Chevy engine with dual carbs, Offenhauser intake, Fenton headers, and Mallory dual point ignition. The engine is coupled to a late model 4-speed transmission and a 355 rear end. Electrical was switched over to a 12V system. The heater works but the windshield wipers are not operational. The tires are BF Goodrich 70 series (P255 rear and P235 front) on chrome 15-inch simulated knock off wheels. It as 4 wheel drum brakes that look to be factory. The suspension is single leaf springs in the front and factory springs in the rear. The paint is in excellent condition and shows very well with only minor chips on the tailgate where the hooks go in. The glass has no cracks or chips. The inside of the box has no dents or scratches. The interior is also excellent except for one hole in the headliner by the sun visor. The underside is solid and rust free except for surface rust on the exhaust pipes. The floors appear to be original and in excellent condition. There has been extensive chrome work done on this truck. Very tastefully done. See pictures. All chrome is excellent. Chrome details include: exhaust manifold, generator, carburetors, valve cover and side cover, radiator fan and pulley, exhaust pipes, differential cover, license plate bracket, hood hinges, center hood plate and spring, dash trim, garnish moldings, steering column, radio delete plate, heater box, and much more. This Corvair drives really nicely. Meticulously maintained. To our knowledge this car only had two previous owners. The engine starts and runs excellently but has normal oil seepage. Everything works well -- radio, heater, lights, and gauges all work. The interior is original and in excellent condition, except for a single tear in the driver seat upholstery. The dash is excellent with very clear gauges. Everything works. The body looks very presentable although it has some minor dents and multiple scratches. It appears to have had some paintwork. We cannot find any structural or body damage. No cracks in any of the glass. Excellent chrome and stainless. Comes with original jack and spare wheel. A true barn find. After putting in some gas, the engine started immediately, and it runs really strong. It is very dry underneath; we could not find any leaks anywhere. Because the engine ran so well, we wanted to road test it to see how the rest of the car functioned. We replaced the wheel cylinder, brake shoes, master cylinder, and one brake line. The car seems to handle really well, the transmission shifts properly, and the tachometer works.  The previous owner stated that it was a California car and was never driven in a Midwestern winter. The frame is in excellent condition. It appears to be rust free except for surface rust (please see pictures). And we can’t find any damage to the body. In addition to the normal molding, there is an additional strip underneath that appears to be professionally crafted and installed. This car would make an excellent restoration project. Because it was stored in a barn for such a long time, it was subject to the critters that live there. The convertible top has a large tear on the passenger side. The seats are both there, however the passenger seat upholstery has been shredded. The carpeting was not salvageable. Also included: Both windows, Chevrolet side insignias, and the spare tire. However, the car is missing hubcaps, the ignition shielding, washer pump and jar, and the jack. The numbers appear to all be correct. You are welcome to check them out for yourself to confirm. It now has a 400 ci small block with a 350 automatic and a positraction rear end. It also received new rear springs. The transplant looks professional with no cutting of transmission or motor mounts. It was all mounted with aftermarket mounts and looks to be very well done. There is normal seepage from the motor and transmission. They also changed the shift pattern in the quadrant so the letters correspond with the 350 transmission. While driving the car, it seems like the new engine/transmission is a perfect combination. It will light up the rear wheels and also cruise at highway speed effortlessly. The underside of the car has very solid floor pans, including trunk and spare tire well. It does have rust on two of the body mounts (see pictures). The paint is starting to show some deterioration with some bubbling starting at both front fenders, lower bottom (see pictures). The rest of the body has some small dents and scratches, but the bottom of all four doors are solid. The stainless has some dents, and one rear fender molding is incorrect. The passenger front window has a crack in the glass. The interior is original, but will need attention. The seams are torn in several places and there is a hole in the front passenger side carpeting. Odometer reads: 79866 Cannot confirm accuracy. This car was previously titled in Colorado. Came to Wisconsin in 1985 and had the same owner until presently.
