1952 Chevrolet Styleline Special You see those guys and gals driving their classic cars over to the local cruise nights all summer long. You’ve thought about how much fun it would be to have your own car and join in, but you don’t have a fortune to spend on one. Plus with vintage cars, sometimes it’s difficult to know what you’re really getting. A plastic-filled bucket of rust hidden under a pretty paint job? Maybe a motor on its last leg, but with shiny chrome valve covers? If you’ve had any of these conversations in your head, then this is the car for you. This ‘52 Chevy is as solid as they come, runs great and is priced right! My pop has had grease on his hands since he was a teenager. Although it was never his primary business, he has always had a restoration in our driveway. Now retired, he passes his time by picking up cars that are good candidates to start with. He then spends a couple of years putting them back together and when completed sells them to very happy buyers. When his cars hit the marketplace, they are in “turn key and go” condition, ready to drive. The bodies are straight and solid and everything works as it should. If something needed attention, it got it long before the car is even shown to a perspective buyer. No surprises, nothing hidden. What you see is what you get. Enough about the builder, let’s talk about the build. This ’52 Chevy had been asleep in a garage for forty years! It was last inspected by the state of New Jersey in 1971 as evident by the sticker on the windshield. It retains its original, rust-free floors, rockers and trunk. The odometer reads 43,888. While we can’t guarantee that’s the original mileage, that is what it reads. The pictures show the condition of the body, very straight and solid. The trunk has been coated with POR 15 to prevent the possibility of future rust problems. A new trunk seal is in place, along with all new weather seals around the doors. All the window glass is in good shape with none needing replacement. All the trim pieces are present. The hood ornament and original hubcaps are also included, but are not currently on the car. Body color looks like it is in primer, but is actually painted matt black. This combined with those gleaming wide whitewall tires and chrome caps create the look that is so popular today. The interior bench seats are more comfortable than your living room sofa and are original as well. The upholstery is in fair condition and doesn’t show any major rips or tears. The dash has been freshly painted and the chrome polished to a brilliant shine. All the gauges are clear and working properly. Lights, horn, heater, everything works. Under the hood is a 1954 Chevrolet 235 motor. (not original) Motor has been bored .30 over and has NEW pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump and fuel pump. The electrical system has been converted to 12V and has a NEW alternator and battery. The drivetrain continues on to a ’54 Power Glide, 3-speed manual transmission connected to a .355 rear. This is the reliable combination that can take you across town or across the country with ease. Other brand NEW components include a complete, whisper-quiet exhaust system, gas tank and sending unit, all steel brake lines and all rubber brake hoses, fan belts, radiator hoses, spark plug wires, plugs, fluids, etc. The master cylinder has been rebuilt as well. This car requires nothing more than a new owner with a desire to drive a classic automobile rather than work on one. No disappointments here.
