Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to view my 1986 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4. What you're viewing is an absolutely incredible, completely stock, completely original paint (as far as I can tell), and an absolutely rust free truck. Literally everything on the truck works as it should and is sure to make anyone happy. I bought the truck just north of Oxford, Mississippi in the spring of 2013 and has served me well ever since. This has always been a southern truck and with just a short glimpse, you can tell just how nice this truck is. This is a great truck that has had the drivetrain rebuilt and as far as I know, all original paint. When I drove the truck home, I noticed that the 305 was a bit sluggish. I drove the truck for awhile, but I could tell the engine wasn't as stout as it should be, so I took it to a close friend of mine who owns a machine shop. After a compression test, I found that two cylinders had less than 50psi. I then hired him to completely rebuilt the engine for me. The engine was bored 30 over, all new internals installed, and put back to factory specs. I didn't want a hotrod, but I did want a good truck that I could drive anywhere and not have to worry about. We used an Edelbrock Performer carburetor for fuel and deleted the EGR valve. I also added a new dual exhaust that gives it just a slight rumble from JCWhitney. Shortly after, I ordered a new dash from Brothers (original had a few cracks in it, but not horrible). I also ordered new charcoal carpet and a new seat cover. The door panels are original to the truck, all the switches, controls, and interior panels are also original. It even has a really nice GM CB radio that still works. I just removed the CB antenna because I didn't like it. Holes can still be seen just below the sliding black glass where the antenna was mounted. The factory radio was sent off and totally rebuilt with better internals and an FM modulator was added behind the dash, so I can connect my phone to the auxiliary port that is attached to the FM modulator that comes out of where the ash tray is hinged. This is nice because you have the look of a factory radio and uncut bezel, but still have the modern technology of using music from your iPhone or whatever you choose to connect to the aux port. This truck has never been smoked in and has no funny smells or issues inside. I’ll try my best to describe each aspect of the truck, so you’ll have the best possible idea of just now nice this truck actually is. Exterior The exterior of the truck is extremely nice for a 4x4 Silverado that is almost 30 years old and there is absolutely no rust on this truck at all. The hood is the worst panel on the truck and it isn't bad. It has a few dents here and there that can be seen in the pics and the paint is missing on the drives side front as it turns down to meet the grille. The paint was always thin in this spot and after I buffed the truck, it showed up even more. For whatever reason, the paint always seems to be thin in this spot on original trucks. I have two other two wheel drives and the paint is weak in the same spot on both trucks. The left fender is superb with thin paint right at the body line. The right fender has a dent at the very bottom that can be seen in the pics. This dent follows on over to the bottom of the right rocker. Its actually hardly noticeable unless your on the ground looking for it. The left side door is in great shape with thin paint at the body line and a scratch at the very bottom that is long but hardly noticeable because its at the very bottom (4 inches above the rocker). The right door is in good shape, but has a slight dent near the top, just below the window. It had a tiny hole in it when I got the truck. I sanded the hole and put some JB Weld in it. I touched it up and it isn't as noticeable. The cab is phenomenal with no rust at all…..not even in the rockers. The top of the truck has thin paint on the corners, but no dings or issues. The bed sides have some scrapes and some really tiny dents, but no rust and the paint looks good. The truck came from the factory with the bed rails that almost everyone hates. Someone had taken them off a long time ago, so I filled the holes with JB Weld and touched them up with a brush. This is noticeable as you can see in the pics, but really doesn’t look bad when you take into consideration that this is an original paint truck. The tailgate had some scuffs at the very top due to it having a diamond plated top cover that hung over it about an inch at the very top. This left small scratches in the paint that I touched up. Other than that, its very nice and the stainless is in amazing condition….the best I’ve ever seen on an 30 year old truck. The tool box is practically new and has only been on the truck a few months. The bed is actually incredibly nice and looks great on top and bottom. There were screws drilled for the bed liner back when it was installed about 10 years ago. I did take the bed liner out to make sure the bed was nice underneath and it is excellent. Underneath, the bed looks superb as well. Wheels, Tires, and Suspension The wheels are original 15” OEM “bullet holes” that I ordered from Keystone. They are perfect with no fading, no curbing, and no issues. The truck came with rallye wheels from the factory. The tires are BF Goodrich All Terrains in 31x10.5. They maybe have 2000 miles on them and still look new. I ordered them new from Discount Tire Direct a few months ago. The suspension has been on the truck ever since I bought it. The front shocks are white and the rears are black. I don't know the brand and the rears look OEM style. They're not leaking at all and they provide a very nice ride. Its actually a very comfortable truck. I’ve ridden in several of these mid 80s Silverados and most of them ride like a wooden wagon, but not this truck. Drivetrain and Under Carriage Under the hood, the truck looks bone stock besides the polished Edelbrock Performer lurking under the air cleaner. The engine bay is very clean and there are no signs of rust anywhere……not even under the battery. I have not blacked it out under the hood nor have I cleaned it, so the way you see it, is the way it has been kept. This truck has not been used for hunting, mudding, off roading, or any other scenario besides the highway and in town. This is an absolutely incredible, reliable truck. The engine was rebuilt to these specs: Bore - 030 Rd - .001, and Main - .001, so you can see, there was very little wear inside the engine. Basically the boring was just to clean up the cylinders a bit. The price for the rebuild was $1550 after my “friend” discount. I told him that I wasn't in a hurry, so my engine stayed in his shop from September of 2014 through March 9th of 2015. While the engine was being rebuilt, I replaced both rotors up front, rebuilt both automatic locking hubs, and ordered all new pieces for the A/C system. I ordered a new compressor, new dryer, etc. The engine runs flawlessly and the A/C blows ice cold with no leaks. The transmission was rebuilt before I bought the truck according to the previous owner. It shifts great, it doesn’t grind, and it has plenty of power. The rear end, front differential, and the transfer case were all serviced with new gaskets just a few months ago as well. The 4x4 system works flawlessly and needs nothing. Underneath the truck, you wont find a rust anywhere. The floor, the cab, the bed, and all of the suspension looks incredible. Yes, it has been blacked out underneath, but it wasn't undercoated, so you can tell that there is no rust and that everything is in phenomenal condition. The floors, cab and bed were not blacked out and it all looks tremendous. Please take the time and view all of the pictures, so you’ll know exactly what you are bidding on. This is a phenomenal truck that is sure to make anyone looking for a mid 80s Silverado 4x4 happy. The buyer is responsible for shipping and there is no warranty. Its sold as-is, but bid with confidence. This truck has served me very well and I’m confident that it will do the same for you. I do want to sell the truck and I intend to do so, so feel free to bid accordingly. My cell number is 662-416-0900. My name is Matt and I’ll be glad to help any way I can. The truck is titled in my name and is a clean and clear Mississippi title. Good luck and God bless.
