1985 Chevrolet C60 Kodiak (TopKick Style) Ambulance~61,000 Original Miles(Does not require a Commercial Driver's License and is Insurable) Up for sale is my 1985 Chevrolet C60 Ambulance. I have searched online for years, and I never have seen a "TopKick" or big box style ambulance of this vintage. By TopKick, I mean the whole hood tilts forward for service. It is insured now through Hagerty as a collector vehicle and full replacement value $5000 for $200/year. You can do the same. Unlike the ambulances (vans) they use today, you can actually stand up in this rig inside the box and service it easily. Perfect for a volunteer fire department, bug out vehicle, race car support vehicle, mini-toter, tow vehicle, service vehicle (locksmith, welder, etc), brew pub beverage response vehicle, or parade vehicle! Has plenty of storage inside and out so it comes down to how you want to use it. Box size is 13'2 long, by 7'8 wide. Here are a few more details: 427 CID/7.0L Engine.Allison 4 speed Automatic3800 RPM GovernorDual Rear Wheels w/airbag suspension/Eaton Rear AxleGVWR 15,120 lbs (4120 Front/11000 Rear), No Commercial Driver's License RequiredWorking exterior/interior lights, sirens, and PA systemTires purchased less than 3 years ago (about $1700) Like new with a few thousand miles on them.Rear end seal replaced and rear end servicedNew front KYB shocksNew Rear hitchNew master cylinderNew fuel pump This rig was built by Frontline Emergency vehicles out of FL. Lots of aluminum diamond plate and the entire rear box is aluminum. No major dents in body or cab. Tilting hood is fiberglass. I have the build sheets from the factory, as well as service manuals. In terms of road worthiness, it has never left me stranded. It doesn't run hot. Radiator fluid is bright green with no cooling issues. Transmission shifts correctly for an Allison (they shift hard) and it runs down the road straight (doesn't wander like some older trucks). Has a newer Edelbrock carburetor and a nice Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo with an AUX jack and USB port. It needs little things here and there: - AC belt is off. I never put one on. It is the older R12 compressor (big one), but could be converted to R134. AC hoses go back into the Box, so once complete you could run the AC in the Box. Heat in the box as well. - Spotlights don't turn on. Could be a fuse or wiring. I may check this out/fix prior to sale if I can figure it out. - Black cloth headliner is drooping. Needs to be removed, contact cement applied, and re-affixed. It is an old truck, and could use little cosmetic fixes here and there, but in great shape for being 30 years old and mechanically sound. It was parked inside most of its life and used by the City of Sheridan as their Fire and Police Rescue rig before they contracted with Denver. This is not an old rusted out rig. Email if you are interested. I am accepting offers so don't be afraid to make one. I rarely use this rig and have other projects I need to finish.
