1971 Chevy K5 Blazer CST: The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, which were much  smaller than other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply offer a shortened pickup truck, which both increased interior space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform. The Blazer quickly became  popular. For the first time, it married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the "luxury" features like air conditioning and automatic transmissions routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, the Blazer was already  outselling both of its older rivals. Ford, Dodge, and even Jeep would counter with similar shortened pickups, with the Dodge Ramcharger and Jeep Cherokee. The two-wheel drive version came with independent front suspension and rear  trailing arms, both with coil springs. The four-wheel drive version had a solid front axle and used leaf springs front and rear. Both versions used drum brakes at all four corners until 1971, when the entire GM light truck line got  standard front discs.   This is just flat out one GREAT looking, GREAT sounding, and GREAT driving K5! It has maintained a high level of originality and could easily serve as a weekend show vehicle or a daily driver. This Blazer was outfitted with all the good factory options. With exception of the steering wheel and retro-styled radio it is almost identical to how the first owner received the truck 45 year ago. That proud first owner resided in Stockton, Ca and this classic Chevy was housed there for  several years before being purchased by the second owner in Auburn, Ca at an unknown date. In 2007, the K5 made its way to the Houston, TX area where it has remained since. Through the course of the 3 ownerships the original Owners  Manual and Protect-o-Plate (warranty card) were kept in the glove box. When the new retro-style radio was installed, the previous owner made sure to leave the dash and doors uncut and the speakers are mounted in boxes below each seat.  The only flaw on the truck that needs to be addressed the separation seen in the rear seat. We have ordered the correct new cover and have been given a 2/15/16 arrival date. If the K5 is purchased before this date we will forward this  item along with $200 to have it professionally installed. We were very excited to find this Blazer our level of excitement still makes it really hard to say what is "best" about this beauty. Locating exceptional classics is our full time job and rarely do we find examples that check all the  boxes: very original, highly optioned, documented, numbers matching, low miles, excellent condition, and drives great. The numerous options and features include; CST Package, 350 V8, Automatic, 4x4, Lock-out Hubs, Posi-trac Axle, Power Disk Brakes,  Power Steering, Factory A/C, Dual Exhaust, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Mirrors, Chrome Grill, Removable Top, Center Console Storage, AM/FM/CD/AUX Radio, Soft Ray Tinted Glass, Tow Package, Period Sales Literature, Original Owners Manual,  Protect-o-Plate, 15" Rally Wheels, and New 31 x 10.5 R15LT Tires! Clean '70-'72 Chevy Blazers and C10 trucks are sky-rocketing in value over the last few years. Current values in the 4 major classic car/truck valuation guides already  show this K5 to be worth $30,925 to $40,400. Do your own research... but do it quickly... the nice classics don't last on the market long! Both versions used drum brakes at all four corners until 1971, when the entire GM light truck line got standard front discs.  Look no further! You have just found the nicest 1971 K5 Blazer on the market that you can drive daily. This is not a "trailer queen" but it is an extremely nice driver that turns heads everywhere it goes. We started in March with a 107k mile  straight and rust free body that retained it's original 350 V8 engine. The engine has under 5k miles since a rebuild around 15 years ago. According to the previous owner, his father purchased the K5 in 1972 as the 2nd owner and the  Chevrolet remained in their family until we purchased it in 2015. His father used the Blazer as a daily driver at first and then later in his ownership it was primarily and weekend/hunting trip vehicle. For that reason, they had a Sidewinder™ winch custom mounted behind the front bumper and a tow receiver mounted on the rear. Upon arrival to Texas, we completed an extensive list of "beautification" to get the K5 ready for a new home. We had the entire Chevy repainted,  installed new emblems, replaced a majority of the gaskets/seals, and added a set of brand new tires. On the inside the K5 received new carpet, center console, instrument bezel, re-upholstered seats, and a brand new steering wheel. When  we purchased this Blazer, the owner told us, "... he wouldn't be scared to drive this baby to any location no matter the distance..." From our miles behind the wheel we have the same impression and only had to perform a routine tune-up and add  a new battery. Additional features and options include; 350 V8, Automatic Transmission, 4x4 On-the-Floor, Power Steering & Brakes, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Mirrors, Vent Windows, Factory Delco AM Radio, Center Console Storage, Owners  Manuals, 15" Rally Wheels, and brand new Mastercraft™ 31x10.5 R15LT Tires! This K5 Blazer is ready to roll with the top on or off. Either way you choose, just don't let this one pass you by!! With the "Buy it Now" option you can own this classic K5 Blazer now and receive FREE SHIPPING * to your driveway.
