Ordered with every available option Chevrolet offered. Delivery 09March2000 at Clements Chevrolet, Norfolk, Nebraska. Not driven until July2001 with relocation to Las Cruces,NM-El Paso, Texas. Heavy steel crossbeam installed frame-to-frame under bed and tapped for screw-in/screw-out ball hitch to enable pulling of gooseneck Featherlite 3-horse-style cargo trailer. Factory below bumper hitch used to pull car trailer occasionally. Never on a dirt road. Always used for multi-state runs. Always garaged. Carefully maintained. Synthetics wherever possible. I cannot recall ever being on an icy or snowy road in this truck ... so not ever exposed to road salts. This was Chevrolet's last year of the 454 CID engine in a production truck. It is Vortec, so fuel injection...not carburetion. I tended to get from 10 to 15 MPG depending more on wind and temperature than on load weights being pulled. Tires are all Michelin. Steers are better than the duals but not bragging about any of them. A lot of miles left on them. Truck feels heavy when driving it. It should. It is heavy. The suspension is deep. It rides like an old Cadillac limousine on a smooth highway. Engine always runs cool. I am leaving enclosed storage and have sold my trailers. As much as I admire this beautiful "horse" I have run out of reasons to continue to hold it. But it will make someone else a wonderful truck for a long time to come.
