The Bel Air was the most luxurious of the fill-size Chevrolets in 1957, and this one has been modified to make it even better. Where there would normally be a small bloc 265 CID engine now resides a small block 383 CID engine with much more grunt. It is outfitted with dual-quad carburetors, Dougs headers, full stainless steel custom exhaust, chrome fuel pump, chrome alternator, polished A/C compressor, aluminum radiator, and a billet overflow tank squeezing out a very potent 450hp. Power is then transferred through a TH-400 transmission with a shift kit and controlled with a B%26M Hammer shifter. Power is put to the wheels through a Ford 9 inch unit packing 3.73 gears and a big drum brake kit. The front of the car is kept planted with the help of Jim Rogers front suspension, including tubular A arms, a rack and pinion steering setup, and disc brakes. The interior is truly one-of-a-kind with most of its components being donated from a Chrysler 300, including front and rear leather seats. All of this is sitting on brand new sheet metal floors, and wrapped in brand new sheet metal doors, fenders, and quarter panels. Thanks to the Beach Boys, everyone is familiar with Chevy\'s 409, the powerful engine introduced in 1961 to dominate both street and strip. A recast, bored-and-stroked variation of the 1958-61 348-cu in V8, the first 409 relied on a Carter four-barrel carburetor, a solid-lifter can, and 11.25:1 compression to make 360 horsepower. The single-carb 409 returned for 1962 (uprated to 380 horses) and was joined by a 409-hp rendition with two four-barrels. 409s were built up through 1965 and made their way into all models, including a few four-doors.Bel Air sedans represented popular matches early on because, with fewer frills, they were lighter than their more costly Impala cousins, and less weight equals more speed. We are lucky enough to get our hands on this beauty. The exterior is in exceptional condition with what is believed to be the original Sierra Gold paint. The chrome is in excellent condition and shines as if it just rolled out of the showroom. This particular car left the factory with a staggering 30 options from the factory this is definitely a one of a kind Tri-Five.
