The Firebird was introduced the same year as the automaker's platform-sharing model, the Chevrolet Camaro. This coincided with the release of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, which shared its platform with another pony car, the Ford Mustang.   1979 version of the Firebird     The front end was restyled in 1979. It also marked the 10th Anniversary of the Trans Am, and a special anniversary package was made available: silver paint with gray upper paint accents and a silver leather interior. The 10th Anniversary cars also featured a special Firebird hood decal, which extended off of the hood and onto the front fenders. Pontiac produced 7,500 10th Anniversary cars, of which 1,817 were equipped with the Pontiac 400 engine (and coupled with the four-speed Borg Warner Super T-10 transmission). The only option on these cars was the engine (the 400 was not certified for California, nor was cruise control available with it), which dictated the transmission and the gear ratio (3.23 on the 400 cars, 2.73 on the 403 cars). In 1979 Pontiac sold 116,535 Trans Ams, the highest sold in a year.   Up until the 1979 models, the performance of 400-equipped Firebirds could still be brought up to near pre-1970 levels by removing the catalytic converter and opening up the block off plate to make the hood scoop functional. Static compression ratios dropped in the early 70s which crippled horsepower and torque output.   This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has a 4.9-liter 302 engine. It is all original including paint and interior. It has had all scheduled maintenance. 2 owners with only 53,859 original miles. Always garaged. New BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. It has been a reliable turn key driver. Passes California smog with no issues. If you have been looking for an original Trans Am that drives smoothly with low miles, look no further.                                                 Vehicle           Photos                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Payment           Information                     Payment for cars can be made in several ways. 1970 Pontiac Trans Am One ownerOriginal engineOriginal transmissionOriginal rear end The story on this rare Trans Am starts in late 1970, my dad worked at the local Pontiac dealership detailing new and used cars and he actually prepared this car for delivery... In the late '80's I walked beans and took breaks by a little farm house with a few outbuildings, never to know what was inside... The summer of '08 I received a call about an old car and I raced out to see what it was. It was at the same old farm house and inside was an untouched 1970 Trans Am. This car was purchased new in my home town of about 5000 people at Bill Abbott Pontiac which is still in business to this day. The history on this car is well known in town. This car has received a complete rotisserie restoration and is new in every way. I have professionally restored many cars over the years, and this has been one of the only cars I have kept. I believe this car will be one of the most valuable muscle cars in the marketplace in years to come... Please call Chris at 217-369-0289 with any questions. I am also open to any trades Buy It Now: $69,900

For sale is a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am that would make an excellent candiate for restoration. The car runs and drives, but is not quite highway ready yet. All the gauges work, not sure about the clock. The driver's side power window works but not the passenger. The engine is a pontiac 400, that sounds great (see video at bottom of page).Overall, the car is solid, will need work. I might have a set of snowflakes with tires if interested. The mileage listed is not actual. Inspections are welcome The car is being sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. Clear title in hand. See a video of this item

Nice car for sale. Body in great condition, no visible rust. Interior is also in good and original shape. Dash has a couple of small cracks but nothing to be concerned about. Passenger seat will have to be recovered. The car had the original 403 engine in it. I pulled the engine and have a 1968 455 olds engine bored 20 over. The engine is completely rebuilt and has no miles on it and is currently still at the machine shop.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE The time has come to put my 2000 Trans Am up for sale. I would love to keep the car, but I am looking to buy a house this year, and unfortunately I can’t have both. The car is in excellent condition and has been very well maintained all its life. The car is a 2000 Firebird Trans Am, optioned with the 5.7L LS1 V8 and an automatic 4L60E transmission. The car has the removable T-Top that gives you the feel of a convertible with the looks of a hardtop. The car is Pewter in color and has the desirable Ebony leather interior that is in excellent condition. Drivetrain: The LS1 pulls hard. The car has a couple of light modifications and puts out about 375hp and 375lb ft of torque. The car has long tube headers hooked up to a Magnaflow stainless catback exhaust. This gives the car a very aggressive muscle car tone. It sounds excellent under heavy throttle, but still relatively tame while cruising. I added a brand new K&N filter this spring. The automatic transmission shifts well, as it should. Exterior: As for exterior modifications, the car has a few slight changes. Most notable is the WS6 hood that I installed. It is a high-quality fiberglass WS6 hood with Firehawk vents that I had professionally painted. The fitment is as good as factory and the paint is a flawless match to the rest of the car. The rear valance has been painted in a semi-gloss black similar to the 2002 CETA cars, and is finished off with a pair of the large polished Magnaflow exhaust tips. The exterior is overall in excellent shape. The car had a $500 paint correction done this and the paint looks excellent. There are no swirl marks at all – the car does not show its age at all. There are a few medium-sized marks in the paint, including a bit of paint cracking on the hatch and a little clear coat peeling on the front bumper. The car does not have any significant dings. Wheels & Tires: The car comes with a set of Corvette Z06 wheels with machined lips and gloss black centres. The front wheels are 17”x9.5” and the rear wheels are 18”x10.5”. The wheels are straight and true, and are in fair condition. The faces are in good condition, but some of the wheels have some curb rash, and one has paint beginning to peel. The wheels are wrapped 275/40/17 Nitto 555 tires up front, while the back are large 285/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The front tires have good tread depth and the back will pass a safety test, but will need to be replaced soon. Interior: The interior is in good shape. The car has the “Ebony” interior that includes spotless black carpets and black leather 6-way adjustable power driver and passenger seats. The seats are in good condition, although the the driver's seat is starting to wear on the bolster and in the seat area. The car has the notorious door trim crack on the passenger side, and the dash does have a crack on it too. All the gauges, electronics, radio, power antenna, seats etc. function as they should. The power windows work, but the passenger side like on most Trans Am is very slow. The windows have been tinted, and they are quite dark. It gives the car a nice look from the exterior, but doesn’t cause any visibility issues. The driver’s side window does have a scratch in the tint. The car also comes with a set of embroidered Trans Am floor mats in the front. General Remarks: All the items on the car work as they should: the A/C is cold, the heat is warm, the headlights go up & down perfectly, the doors lock & unlock, it shifts well, pulls hard, and sounds great. There are some small marks in the paint as I mentioned above, and the cutback exhaust will need to be adjusted too. Overall the car does not show its age. Overall this is a very clean, powerful, and tastefully and lightly modified LS1 Trans Am. It comes with the good looks of a WS6 car with the Ram Air hood, and an aggressive set of Corvette wheels instead of the boring stock 16” ones. It comes with this, without a big price tag that come with most LS1 Trans Ams. I am asking $10,750 but I am open to reasonable offers.

Up for sale is my restored and upgraded 1978 TransAm with a W72 performance option. Besides being a beautifully restored TransAm, over the last 4 years I did well over $10k in upgrades to make it enjoyable to drive and get the right look. See the car in action on the band Surrender the Fall's music video on MTV: http://www.mtv.com/videos/surrender-the-fall/894542/some-kind-of-perfect.jhtml/ See it in University of Miami's Distraction magazine: http://issuu.com/abbyleeg/docs/distraction_issue_18 It has a 2004R overdrive transmission for nice comfortable cruising, vintage custom Recaro "fishnet" seats for comfort, lowered and tightened up suspension for good handling, upgraded modern A/C, awesome iPod compatible stereo, Year One flares, 17" Year One wheels, and much more! My loss is your gain, don't try this at home unless you have a lot of $'s and time to spend! A stack of receipts will be included with the sale. Besides the upgrades, many maintenance items have been replaced. Here are some examples of what was done to enhance this car.
