This auction is for a 1956 Ford Thunderbird replica made by Shay in the early 80s. They were authorized by Ford and sold through Ford dealerships. They were titled as 1956 models. Most of these Thunderbirds were built with V8 engines. This one has an original 4 cyl engine and a 4 speed transmission which makes it very rare. It even has air and power brakes. They were built with rack and pinion steering and they have a fiberglass bodies. I'm sure if you have read this far you know what a Shay is. They built more Model As than Thunderbirds. This car is a local trade for us. We have driven it and everything works. The air even blows cold. It starts right up with no issues. It is a blast to drive and handles great. It has 4 new white lettered radial tires. The steering is tight and the power brakes are good. The clutch is strong also. This is an affordable classic car that you can enjoy that is also a safe investment. This car HAS had a repaint. The shock on the deck lid needs replaced but all of the lights, horn, signals seem to work fine. All of the factory Shay gauges work, even the clock and the tach. The odometer reading is 07,085 so assume that is 107 K. Please come and check the car out or ask questions about it before you bid. 1980 Model AConvertible"Shay"This is a fantastic car that we drive 3 or 4 times in the summer. What's great since it's a modern car underneath It's easy to drive , drives at 65 miles an hour and can be used everyday. Mechanically it's in mint shape in every way and the horn bellows "OOOOOOOGGGGAAAAAAAA" It's a real showstopper! The body is in very good shape and the paint overall is pretty nice. The car isn't mint but, it is very, very presentable . The strange thing is that because this car can be used as an everyday car and of course there were only 6000 made...These are not only a lot of fun but a good investment. I truly believe with the tuneup and check up it just had you could easily drive it across country. We have owned it for the last 10 years and are sad to see it go :( It does come with the top...we never used it though email with questions that you may have.

This is a 1929 Ford Model A Shay Replica built in 1980. It has less than 2,000 original miles and has been garage kept for it's entire life. It was driven regularly and runs well.The condition is very close to new. The pictures here were taken during a car show this summer. The car has a removable top and has a rumble seat. In addition to the spare tire shown in the pictures, there is an extra spare tire included. The original owner is my father-in-law, who bought it new. We got the car from him several years ago. It was built by the Shay Company in agreement with Ford Motor Company and using new 1980 Ford Pinto drive train parts, Ford Dealerships also sold these cars. You can find tons of information about them on the internet, there is even a Shay club. HOW DO I GET PARTS? No problem, just buy mechanical parts for a 1980 Ford Pinto and body parts for a 1929 Model A Ford. HOW IS THE CAR TITLED? The title 1980 Ford Model A 2D. VIN: 1HWA41AA2AE005698 HISTORY: Can't tell you much, I bought the car from a friend in Middletown, Ohio. DRIVE TRAIN: The drive train was supplied by Ford, its the same as used in a 1980 Pinto. The engine runs sweet, I think its a 2300 CC with overhead valves and a inline 4 cyclinder. The engine has more power than a original Model A, but its sure no power house, you can usually drive at speed limit speeds. The transmission is a 4 speed manual that shifts good with no unwanted nosies. The rear-end is Pinto and has a good highway gearing with no growels or whines. STEERING: Rach and pinion steering, the car drives great and steers easy. BRAKES: Disc on front and drums in the rear, the car stops good. LIGHTS: Headlights work, tail lights work, turn signals work, brake lights work. GAUGES: The gas gauge works as well as the speedometer. AHOOGA HORN WORKS! WIPERS WORK! RADIO WORKS! WHEELS AND TIRES: Wheels paint is nice, chrome beauty rings look good, Firestone tires are very good. CONVERTIBLE TOP: It is good, but not new and it does have a boot for when its down. INTERIOR: Nice with no holes and no real wear that I see, the rumble seat is good. CHROME: Decent, a few very minor pits and super minor dull places. PAINT: Good, but not new and perfect.
