This vehicle underwent quality frame off restoration in the early 90's by the original owner, who has since past away. The vehicle was stored for many years. Second owner purchased this vehicle in 2003, who was a member of Skyliner Club. I purchased the car from him a few months ago. This vehicle looks and drives like a champ. The paint is in very good condition with exception of minor chips. The chrome and Stainless Steel are original to the car, completely redone and they are still in beautiful condition, there are a few unnoticeable dings on the Stainless Steel. New glass all around with new rubbers, all four windows go up and down as they should. All gauges and lights work well, except the fuel gauge that sticks sometime. Original radio works fine. The interior is in beautiful condition with no blemishes, as you can see in the photos. The engine is in good condition, no leaks, no smoke from anywhere, it does not overheat, and the transmission shifts smooth. Power steering, power brakes, drums all around; brakes and wheel cylinders were replaced recently. Steering is a bit tight, but it drives straight down the road, does not pull left or right. I updated the charging system to one wire 125 amp alternator and installed a new battery. Frame is powder coated black. Now for the most important, the retractable top works just as it should. The power train has about 20,000 miles on it. The undercarriage of this car looks as nice as the rest of the car. New shocks, new bushings, new gas tank see the photos. 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner with Ground Up Restoration 2 door Retractable Hardtop - 8-cyl. 332cid/265hp 4bbl - 52,222 Original Miles. This beautiful car has a ground up restoration including full paint job and new interior. 8 Cylinder 332 Motor and matching # orange transmission run and drive like they did back in 1958. Front end has been completely rebuilt and includes all new brakes and shocks all the way around. This eye catcher includes the Factory Cowl Kit and a NEW stainless steel exhaust. All four tires are new and the convertible top works PERFECTLY. Ray - 716-418-0768 Fairlane frontal styling for 1958 bore a familial resemblance to that year's new Thunderbird, while ovoid taillight pairings distinguished the big Fords at the rear. Swathes of gold anodized body-side trim marked the flagship Fairlane 500s. A new 300-hp, 352-cid Thunderbird Special V8 option became available in premium models during 1958. The Fairlane and Fairlane 500 rolled into 1959 with more conservative styling and new rooflines featuring reshaped wrap-around rear windows on sedans. Soon after 1959 production started, though, Fairlane 500 closed models were demoted to mid-level status, as new Galaxie styles, with Thunderbird-inspired rooflines, arrived. At the same time, a simple badging change converted 1959. Ford Sunliner convertible and Skyliner retractable hardtops to Galaxie models. As in 1958, all full-size '59 Fords except the Skyliner were offered with Ford's standard 223-cid six-cylinder engine. “Thunderbird” V8s of up to 352-cid were again available. Excepting the occasional Skyliner, the distinctive but rust-prone1958 Fairlanes are uncommon today. The '59s have seemingly fared better. A nicely turned-out 1958-59 Fairlane 500 is sure to attract admirers at any Ford gathering.

Our 1954 Ford Crestline Skyliner Hardtop Our family has retained this Ford as part of our collection for nearly two years and now offering it for sale. It has many interesting features that caught our eye the first time we saw it. Rare padded top with factory light green tint plexiglass insert. Original 239 V-8 Ford-O-Matic transmission. 12-Volt electrical system. New electric fuel pump. Painted in Black Onyx many years ago and still looks great. Rare accessory rear quarter panel trim with stainless skirts. Coronado Continental Kit. Dual rear antennae and dual dummy spot lights. New upholstery and carpet. Snap-in headliner insert. May be good template for a fresh piece. Engine compartment is very clean and detailed. Strong running and driving. Currently on display at the National Automotive and Truck Museum in Auburn, Indiana as a Museum exhibit. It may be seen 7 days a week during regular museum business hours. Private inspection behind the ropes requires advanced notice with me. eMail for an appointment. The Drive Train The 239 V8 engine and Ford-O-Matic transmission are believed to be the original units. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly. It was factory rated at 130 horsepower. The two-speed transmission also seems to have no issues. Everything under the hood is properly detailed and could be shown at a car event. Paint, Trim and Glass The black paint was most likely applied more than 15 years ago. Since the car has obviously been well cared for and garaged, the paint has held up quite well. There are a few chips to be found in the paint, but overall very nice. It was recently professionally polished, waxed and detailed with most of the emblems and door handles removed for this process. The chrome bumpers may be original. They no longer shine like new, but do not have any major blemishes and look appropriate for the age of the car. Much of the stainless on the car was probably buffed at some point and looks pretty good. The lower rear stainless trim and fenders skirts are likely a dealer installed or aftermarket option. These parts are very rare and very seldom seen. Also very rarely seen is the padded rear section of the roof. We have seen no other Skyliner with this special treatment. The glass appears to be all original, except for the driver side wing window that was professionally replaced this year. Interior The upholstery is probably the most recent update to the car. It is believed to be less than 10 years old. This includes the seat covers, headliner and the carpeting. The door panels appear to be original material. The dash has been repainted. Also note that this car appears to originally had functional spot lights with inner door-mounted mechanisms. These have long since been removed and the current spot lights are non-functional. A person should be able to purchase and re-install vintage spot lights if wanted. An older snap-in headliner insert for the plexiglass roof section is included. However, it is a little shabby and we keep it in the trunk. Body, Floors, etc... To the best of our knowledge, the body panels and floor are original. The frame and suspension mount areas show no known kind of rot or damage. The tires are modern wide white wall radials. An aftermarket Olds Fiesta-style wheel cover has been installed on the wheels. Owner and Service Records We purchased this Classic Ford in February of 2013 from a collector near Fort Wayne. He had owned it for more than ten years. We were able to trace it's ownership back to southern Indiana about 20 or so years ago, but nothing further. The Ford's good running condition reflects its upkeep and maintenance. Overall Overall this is a very attractive mild custom Ford. It is a quality driver's car that can be taken to shows and enjoyed without any known problems. As with any old car of this vintage, it may be perfect today and have a problem tomorrow, but we repair everything as we find it. I cannot imagine why it could not go on a road trip at any moment, but would be prepared for mechanical issues as the arise. We HIGHLY recommend seeing the car in person or having a third-party inspection to insure that you are 100% happy prior to purchase.
