Hello, If your considering this vehicle, then you know what it is and little introduction is needed. Here's your chance at owning a piece of Shelby automotive history. This one is serial number 397 of only 1000 made. I'm the second owner of this Florida car oringanlly Purchased at Jim Peacock Dodge in Daytona. I purchased it Spring 2006 with 21,000 miles now with 29,795 miles! Comes with original documentation , window invoice etc... see pictures. This GLHS is almost 100% original except for the exhaust and the battery (I have the original battery, muffler and catalytic converter). The car was beautifully repainted (window, moldings etc... removed) with 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear with an extra coat on the top and hood then wet sanded and buffed to a glass like finish. Interior is in excellent condition. What needs to be done: -The A/C was working when I purchased the car but it has a leak. I removed it since I wasn't using it and reinstalled it for the sale. It will need to be converted to R134a. -The radio works except for the preset station functions. Need to refurbish or find one on the net. - Steering wheel is tired and a little dry from its life in Florida A beautiful example of a fun to drive collectible. NADA Price guide links:https://sites.google.com/site/thesteelcityoutlaws/project-blogs/shelbynadareferenceguideSome history I got of the web: by Barry Kluczyk More from AuthorGoes Like Hell S’moreThe words Carroll Shelby and front-wheel drive seem about as compatible as, say, a date between Nancy Pelosi and Rush Limbaugh, but the mid-1980s were a strange, transitional time in America’s history of performance. It saw European cars like the Volkswagen GTI making surprisingly strong inroads with performance-minded customers who were hungry for any sort of driving fun. What most of those cars lacked in sheer horsepower was made up for with lively, engaging driving experiences. Carroll Shelby applied that philosophy to the Omni/Charger platform to create the 1983.5 Shelby Charger and Omni GLH (GLH stood for Goes Like Hell). The Shelby Charger was normally aspirated, but the Omni GLH had a 146-horsepower, turbocharged version of Chrysler’s ubiquitous 2.2-liter four–with the Charger receiving the turbo engine in 1985.The Shelby/Dodge experiment culminated with the unexpectedly brilliant 1987 Shelby Charger GLH-S. Shelby’s company purchased the last 1,000 Chargers produced by Chrysler to turn them into the GLH-S models, each identically outfitted in basic black with silver graphics. There was a specific front air dam, and a hood that carried a heat vent and offset blister. Inside, Shelby-logo embroidery was added to the front and rear seats, and a serialized plaque was added to the right-hand corner of the dashboard. With even the plainest of plain-Jane family cars these days offering 300 horsepower, you’d think the GLH-S’s 175 horses wouldn’t be exciting. You’d be very wrong. The Charger GLH-S weighs only about 2,500 pounds, so the power-to-weight ratio is about 14.3 to 1. That’s not too far removed from a new Mustang GT, and it enabled the car to run to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds and through the quarter-mile in the high 14s. A same-year Camaro IROC 350 ran high-6 seconds to 60, and 15-second quarter miles! There’s considerable turbo lag, but a satisfying and very fun feeling of acceleration when the boost kicks in. The car just plain picks up and goes. It’s also a reasonably smooth engine that is tractable at both high and low speeds. Unfortunately, the rest of the performance features aren’t quite as engaging: The manual transmission is notchy, and the shift feel is rubbery. The minimalist gauges are laughably small, and the steering wheel looks like something from a go-kart. On the road, the GLH-S is quite pleasant to drive. Its 15-inch wheels (which look larger on the comparatively small car) and chunky tires deliver commendable grip, with cornering quite good for an early front-driver. All production models came with air conditioning, a sunroof, and other amenities that are appreciated on long drives. And that brings us to one of the best reasons we can think of to invest in one of these quintessential pocket rockets: Cheap thrills. Buy-in prices are low, but with only 1,000 built, they’re extremely rare sights on the road or at a car show. So, you’ve got a conversation piece that’s an easy driver, and one whose value won’t be affected by adding mileage during the summer. Many of the cars have been modified with later turbo engine parts, so be wary of buying someone else’s hot rod. Also, there are basically no resto parts for the GLH-S, so many enthusiasts resort to cannibalizing wrecked or worn-out donors. The 27,000-mile, all-original example in our photos is a great example of what to look for–it’s clean, unmodified, and runs perfect. If you never thought you could afford an honest-to-goodness Shelby, this is it. SPECIFICATIONS Number Built – 1,000 Construction – Unitized body and chassis Engine – 135-cubic-inch, OHC, turbocharged four-cylinder Power/Torque – 135-cubic-inch turbo four, 175 horsepower, 175 lb-ft torque Transmission – Chrysler A525 five-speed manual Suspension front – Independent, with MacPherson struts, coil springs, and stabilizer bar Suspension rear – Semi-independent beam axle with trailing arms, shocks, coil springs, and stabilizer bar Brakes – Front disc/rear drum Length/width/height – 174.4/66.1/50.2 inches Wheelbase – 96.5 inches Weight – 2,500 lbs. Blurb for the net:The '1987 Charger GLHS' was based on the 1987 Shelby Charger. Shelby Automobiles purchased the last 1000 of these & they were shipped to the Whittier factory for modification. Shelby modified the Charger using the same pieces as the 1986 GLHS with some changes. These included a non EGR turbo, Shelby valve cover, wider Shelby windshield decal (no CS logos), different & more extensive tape graphics package, no reference to Dodge on the outer body, black/white speedo overlay, a 4-digit serial numbering system on the dash plaque, wider Mobil 1 plaque installed on the radiator support, & Centurian II wheels. Notes: The 1987 Charger GLHS uses 1986 electronics & fault codes. The dash plaque on 1987 GLHS Chargers read "Shelby Automobiles Inc", "Carroll Shelby" autograph and "Charger GLH-S ####". Some early (low s/n) Charger GLHS's came with a shortened 1986 GLHS windshield decal (CS logos removed). All 1986 & 1987 GLHS's were first run using conventional oil for engine break-in, then filled with Mobil 1 oil. All transaxles came filled with 5-30W engine oil. All GLHSs came from Dodge in single stage black (no clearcoat). There is at least one odd ball that was painted by a dealership because the car wouldn't sell. The dealer had red paint added over the black. This vehicle is owned by the California Shelby Dodge Club president. All had the same options which included a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, air conditioning, sunroof, non-armrest center console and KONI struts/shocks on all four corners. There was also an allowance made for the 85 mph (140 km/h) speedometer in the form of a sticker which extended the range of the speedometer to an indicated 125 mph (200 km/h). By the time the speedometer had wrapped fully around to the "5 mph" mark, the car would have been going at 135 mph (217 km/h). There was also a new version of the Shelby "Centurion" wheel that looked very similar to the Centurion wheels on the 1986 Omni GLHS, but had the "blades" turning in the opposite direction. These are commonly known as Centurion II wheels."This just maybe the cleanest if not one of the cleanest 87 GLHS on the planet!" Here's your chance at owning some of Shelby's automotive history. This one is serial number 397 of only 1000 made. I'm the second owner of this Florida car. With 29199 miles, this GLHS is almost 100% original except for the exhaust and the battery (I have the original battery, muffler and catalytic converter). The car was beautifully repainted and the interior is in excellent condition. I only take it out on nice days and it's always garage kept. What needs to be done. -The A/C was working when I purchased the car but it had a leak. I removed it since I wasn't using it. Now I re installed it for the sale. It will need to be converted to R134a. -The radio works except for the preset station functions. Need to refurbish or find one on the net. A beautiful example of a fun to drive collectible. Really not much more to be said the pictures speak for the car and you are welcome to have the car inspected by a shop of your choose and your expense of course. The GLHS is actually in Montreal Quebec , Canada which is 45 minutes away from the Champlain NY boarder. Will be happy to assist you in the transport to the USA, i.e. Drive it down to me an auto hauler of your choice to help reduce cost. The car's vehicle report is showing 34,000 + kilometres( but odometer is in actual miles)when first registered which is just over 21,000 miles, so she hasn't been driven more than 8,000 the last 8 years! Please send any questions you may have before biding. Just click buy it now to add to your collection! :) Best of luck bidding!

Condition: Used Exterior color: Black Interior color: Gray Transmission: Manual Fule type: Gasoline Engine: 4 Drivetrain: Front Wheel Drive Vehicle title: Clear Body type: Hatchback Warranty: Vehicle does NOT have an existing warranty Standard equipment: Sunroof,Air Conditioning DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is a fairly rare 1987 Shelby GLHS (based on the Dodge Charger). I have owned this car since 2006 and had the intention to do a 100% restoration....which Ive just never found the time to complete. Id really like to hang onto this car, but time, money and storage space are limited and I need to find a new home for this car. In the 8 years I have had the car I have only drove it locally and only for around 4,400 miles. It runs, drives and is registered and insured. The History on Dodge and Carroll Shelby... Lee Iacocca and Carroll Shelby had a great history with the Shelby Mustangs and the AC Cobra with Ford Engines....not to mention Shelby driving cars for Ford. So when Iacocca left Ford to head up a floundering Chrysler Corp., he felt that bringing Shelby in to spice up the offerings would help boost the Companys stodgey image. Their relationship started in 1983 and ended in 1992. Shelby didnt discuss these years much because he always felt he should have never left Ford. Im certain he only did it for loyalty to his friend Lee Iacocca and Im also sure he was much more in love with the brutish muscle cars than he was with the "pocket rockets" he turned out for the most part with Chrysler. The first car Shelby did with Chrysler was a Dodge badged "Shelby Charger" in 1983, and the most prominent was a collaboration which resulted in the Dodge Viper. Their were only a few vehicles which were specifically badged as "Shelbys"...The 1986 Shelby GLH (based on the Dodge Omni)...which stood for "Goes Like Hell" and the 1987 Shelby GLHS (based on the Dodge Charger). The GLHS stood for "Goes Like Hell Smore"....no kidding. Shelby also designed a purpose-built race car with a Dodge Engine called the Shelby Can-Am and there was a race series to go with it. The History on the Shelby GLHS.... The success with the 1986 GLHS (It outperformed a Shelby GT350 Mustang in a magazine test!) allowed Shelby to take delivery of the last 1,000 Dodge Chargers produced from Dodge and to convert them to "Shelbys" at the Whittier, CA shop. These cars are not Dodges, even though many states title them as such (including AZ). Shelby was a car manufacturer and the cars that were "built" in his facility were technically a "Shelby". In fact, the GLHS has no Dodge badging anywhere and the stickers with manufacturer info all say Shelby on them. Every one of the 1,000 cars were painted black with special Shelby GLHS decals in white. These cars utilized the new Dodge 2.2L Turbocharged "Turbo II" engine package and were intercooled. There is an extensive parts list of items which were installed on these cars instead of the stock Dodge parts....its too long to list them all here, but some notable items included Koni Struts and Shelby Centurian wheels. These cars were rated at 175hp, where the stock Dodge Chargers put out a mere 107hp. The History on this Shelby GLHS, #0950.... This vehicle started life as a 1987 Dodge Charger and was shipped to Carroll Shelbys Whittier, CA shop to become Shelby Charger #0950 of 1,000. It was sold at Cowboy Dodge in Cheyenne, WY and I believe it spent most of its life there. I have not reviewed the Vehicle History report, but sometime between 2003 and 2006 the car made its way to Colorado Springs, CO and thats where I purchased it in July, 2006. The car had been sitting outside for quite some time and the paint was badly faded. The previous owner spent a great deal on the performance end by updating the turbo to a "fast spool" unit from Turbos Unleashed, ported the intake and exhaust manifolds, installed new Koni Struts, and installed Addco Sway Bars. He also installed a boost gauge, which is mounted to the Driver-side A-pillar. I wanted to drive the car and not be embarrassed by the faded paint job....but didnt want to spend a fortune....so I had Maaco fix a few door dings and minor hail dings (welcome to Wyoming), etc. (no major dents) and spray some new gloss black on it. I believe the bill was $1,600...and that was done in 2009. The car has been garaged since and the paint still looks great with a few minor chips For additional information, reply to this ad or see: http://item.ebay.com/121404272538#ht_1980wt_912 ebmid: 121404272538

I believe the bill was $1,600...and that was done in 2009. The car has been garaged since and the paint still looks great with a few minor chips on the front of the hood. I left it plain black as it looks really cool. No decals are on the car (see extras below). I have only put 4,427 miles on the car since 2006 as I only use it when the weather is nice. I have also had the timing belt replaced and all belts and hoses changed a few years ago, and I have replaced the clutch and installed new tires. I have receipts for everything, and some receipts from the prior owner(s). The Details....and it's all about the details.... As stated earlier.....I intended to do a complete restoration on this car. When I was in the Army in 1987 I saw one of these at a Dodge dealer in GA and wanted one so bad...not enough money....and orders to Germany kept me from one. I have owned a 1983 Shelby Charger (non-turbo) but it just wasn't the GLHS. My nostalgia for this car has waned and I have way too many projects going to keep this one. Exterior: The body is in excellent shape and the paint (as stated above) looks pretty nice. I cannot find any rust. It is not a show car...I was going to do that later. Some of the plastic body panels don't line up perfectly (front fascia) and the rubber bumper on the rear is a bit buckled on the top. This is very typical on these cars and many cars from this era...look at early 1980's Corvettes. I do believe this car may have seen some hail as the door sills (soft metal) are dinged up....but the body is pretty solid. There may be a few dings, but I had intended to address them when I did the "real" paint job. The glass is pretty decent, but there are a few slight chips in the windshield and the side window glass has some scratches (driver side). The channel felt, wipers need changed as the windows are loose in the channels. I'm sure this is from sitting outside for many years. The tires are new Dunlops (Direzza) and have less than 3,000 miles on them. The original Shelby Centurian wheels are on the car and I had them professionally polished (2009) and they look awesome. The spare is also a Centurian (it is also newly polished) and it also has a new Dunlop mounted. I also have a n additional spare Shelby Charger "Pizza" wheel that will come with the car. The Shelby Centurian wheels are the correct wheel for this car and are getting hard to find...especially in this condition. Interior: I did remove the entire interior with the intention of installing new carpet and having the seats re-done....just never got around to it. I now have the new carpet, it just is not installed. It will come with the car. I did re-install the front seats and belts so I could drive the car, but the center console and rear seat are not installed....obviously they will come with the car and everything is complete. The seats are worn and will need to be re-done to be presentable. The "CS" logos are faded. The door panels are OK...with some areas needing some attention. The dash is in great shape with no tears, rips, cracks, etc. and the Carroll Shelby dash plate is there denoting this as #0950. Engine: This car runs great. I believe the 99,427 are actual and the title is an "A" title..."Actual Mileage. I do not know if it is the original engine....I have no receipts or other indication that it is not. I only know the turbo has been changed and there have been some tuning items done to the car. The car does drip a few drops of fluid every so often, but I'm not even sure what it is and all fluid levels check out fine. I only use Mobil 1 Oil in the car and since I've only changed the oil twice...I know this. When I purchased the car I had all the belts and hoses changed. I had the timing belt and belt tensioner changed at 94,558 miles and replaced the clutch at 96,517 miles. Other: I replaced the fuel cell and fuel pump at 98,112 miles (can't find that receipt) and also believe most of the fuel lines were also changed. This car did fail Arizona emissions on 2 occasions, once the distributor was faulty (replaced) and the other (recently) was the timing had moved to an advanced position somehow. I believe the distributor was replaced at the same time as the timing belt. The car is currently licensed and insured here in AZ. There are several items that do not work on the car...it is old....what do you expect. Here they are:TachometerRear Hatch StrutsWipers (I removed them as I don't use them anyway)Air Conditioning ( There has never been an AC belt since I owned it)Cruise? Don't really know actually...never used it.Driver's door locking knob is missing Overall this would make an excellent restoration project for someone interested in these cars. It is very fun to drive as it handles like a slot car. Remember....this is the car that outperformed a Shelby GT350 in EVERY category ( I may even have that article somewhere). The car isn't perfect by any means...I'd say it is a 7 out of 10....at best. But it is a piece of automotive history because of the legend that is Carroll Shelby. I know these cars won't ever have the values of a Cobra or a GT350...or GT500....or a Series One...but here's a chance to be a part of he Carroll Shelby legacy at a fraction of what those other cars sell for. This was a "tuner" car WAY before these young kids today even were born....and it was a legend that did it. Extras (in addition to that already stated): I am including the following items with the car:Complete set of Shelby GLHS decalsComplete 3 Book Set of Service ManualsSeveral Magazine articles, dealer brochures, etc. on the Shelby Charger, GLH, GLHS.Two Carroll Shelby "CS" hatsAll receipts pertaining to this vehicle in my possession...personal info redacted. I love driving this car as the stares are priceless. There isn't a day that goes by that someone doesn't ask "what in the hell is that"? It is also pretty fun to hang with the testosterone-set when they pull up in their "hot" Mustang or Camaro. This car can hang. Please ask questions if you need more detailed information. I've tried to describe and list things as accurately as possible and try to be as honest as possible in my listings, but would be happy to provide more info...just ask. Bid with confidence as I have 100% positive feedback and will be happy to make arrangements for vehicle pick up. The title is in my possession and ready to be signed over to the new owner. Just in case you missed I above...the Title is an Arizona title and is a "Box A" (Actual Mileage). This vehicle has never been wrecked, totaled, salvage, etc. It has a CLEAR, CLEAN title.
