Nowhere on this car does it try to hide its speedy intentions, which means everyone will hide from your 640 hp coupe on the street and the strip. This Mopar is a serious contender from every angle. From its menacingly aggressive leaning forward stance to the exterior mounted fuel gauge, this is intimidation on wheels. There are so many stickers from the performance parts that you can barely see the cool red stripe that stands out against the glossy black paint. This one even has flashy pieces of chrome, but this is more in a functional role on places like the wheelie bar and the extra wide Weld wheels in back. But we can't talk about the exterior without addressing the elephant in the room, or more appropriately on the hood. The huge fresh air hood scoop on top of the lightweight fiberglass hood looks like it could swallow lesser cars whole, and this piece sits above the hood like a big flag warning others not to mess with what's directly below it (more on that in a moment.) The interior is civilized enough for street use, but the hardware is made for the track, which is the essence of pro-street. You get a set of racer bucket seats that include Simpson five-point harnesses. The driver has a custom Auto Meter gauge setup. The big tachometer is essential because the real fun of this toy comes from running through the Cheetah SCS Turbo Action shifter. If you were still doubting how serious this car is about getting on the track, just look at the full overhead toggle switch panel for all major components. You also get a full 12-point roll cage and a Lexon windshield. So yes, this one is ready for NHRA down to 8.50. Ok, we won't leave you in suspense any longer about the monster motor. It's a 410 cubic-inch V8 with some serious power upgrades. This includes Comp Cams solid rollers with a .691 ratio, Holley 1050 CFM carburetor, Edelbrock Super Victor intake, MSD distributor, aluminum radiator, and custom long tube headers. That last component not only makes for more power, but also its near free-flow setup below the car that makes the kind of rumble that others feel in their chests. The full package is rated at 640 horsepower. That much muscle reliably gets to the road via three-speed automatic with separate fluid cooler and custom aluminum driveshaft. As you know with any good drag motor, there's also plenty of torque ready to twist the body like taffy. That's why this Mopar has its frame reinforced with added bracing in front, and support bars built into the coilover rear suspension. The tubbed rear end makes room for the wide racing slicks, and the fuel cell and battery in the trunk help keep weight where you want it. Plus, when it comes time to stop all this power, there are four-wheel disc brakes built with aerospace components to disparate the heat that comes from this wicked Demon. This Dodge Demon Pro Street is so mean, it's just barely enough on the right side of the law enough to get a license plate hung on the back. Are you the one to tame it? With small block power, these cars are positively ferocious, but check out what happens when you stuff a musclebound 440 under the hood like they did with this one! This Hemi Orange Dart has had a lot of time and money invested to transform it into the gorgeous Demon you see today. Super straight from the start, it was given a full repaint inside and out in traditional Hemi Orange and you can completely forget about keeping a low profile when you're driving this car. The finish is dazzling in the sunlight, with a finish that's miles deep and great panel alignment that's uncommon for a car in this price range. Correct reproduction Demon graphics and stripes were installed to make it look period correct and a factory snorkel hood is used to give it an aggressive look that will have competitors thinking twice about tangling with this Dart. Correct Demon badges were fitted, and all the chrome and stainless was shined up, although with that blasting powder under the hood, they couldn't quite resist doing a little advertising, so there's a discreet '440' badge on the tail as well. In 1972, there were few cars that could compare to a flyweight Demon, especially at the price, and it remains true today. Inside, black is the color of choice, starting with a set of supportive cloth buckets in place of the original bench. Grippy fabric upholstery gives it an upscale look, and matching black carpets with Demon-logo floor mats help control noise and heat. Since this sucker was built for combat, there is no radio, but the beefy Grant GT steering wheel, Hurst Quarter Stick shifter, and big tach on top of the dash should all provide plenty of entertainment. Standard equipment included a pretty comprehensive array of gauges, all of which have crisp markings and bright orange needles so it looks racy, even in the faux wood dash. Everything remains in very good condition, and it's clear that someone really loved this car. No frills, but that was entirely the point of the Demon, and you can easily see how it would be able to catch people unaware. The trunk is stuffed full of fuel cell and battery, so it's not exactly a long-distance cruiser, but it does have the hardware you'll need to safely go fast at the track. A glance at the fender tag will tell you that this was originally a six-cylinder car, but today there's a built 440 under the hood, and it was built to rock. Forget trying to make it look like the factory built it, this sucker is horsepower taken to the next level. Sure, the engine wears proper Hemi Orange paint, but that's where the similarities stop. The open-element air cleaner feeds a giant Holley 4-barrel carb on a high-rise intake, an Accel ignition system lights the fires, and a set of TTI ceramic-coated long-tube headers manage exhaust, and they had to cut out the inner fenders to get them to fit! Underneath, the TorqueFlite automatic was rebuilt and fitted with a manual valve body, and feeds an 8.75-inch rear end. It wears cool 15-inch Weld wheels with skinny radials up front and fat Mickey Thompsons out back. We've always said that removing weight is like adding horsepower. Well, this Demon is what happens when you lose weight AND add power. 1972 DODGE DART DEMON 340 FACTORY H CODE CAR E55 HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE Fender Tag Rebuilt Drivetrain Restoration Completed in 2008 By Previous Owner Back in the 30’s Chrysler had a parts division for servicing Chrysler products which was named Chrysler Motor Parts. As the years went on the name was shortened to Chrysler MO PAR. By the 1960’s there was only one word that encompassed all 3 brands of Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge……that word was MOPAR. And for the people loyal to the brand it became, “MOPAR or NO CAR.” There are NO EXCUSES for the 1972 Dodge Demon. Please study the many pictures provided. Dodge was still dominating the muscle car game in 1972. Just as everyone else was winding down, they were building cars like this 1972 Dodge Demon 340, which didn't rely on Hemi power, but rather the great power-to-weight ratio of a V8-powered Dart. In typical Mopar fashion, this Demon is an extrovert. Top Banana Yellow paint means that this muscular car is impossible to ignore and looks fast just sitting still. Only about 9000 Demons were built in 1972, making this a rather collectable piece of Mopar history, and finding one this well restored is none too easy. For an affordable car, the body was treated to an expensive repaint that shines up beautifully and makes it look great from any angle. Add in the optional hood scoops and Sizzler stripes along the flanks, and it has a traditional Chrysler muscle car look that wasn't just for show, even in 1972. Excellent gaps throughout suggest that this car is not only well-restored, but that it led a rather easy life before it was resuscitated and given a new lease on life. Demon badges were controversial back in the day, but it's nice to see them in place on this car, which gives it a playful personality to go with its bright paint job. Other details like the chrome bumpers and unique slotted taillights help make it stand out among its more famous siblings. Although the Dart was Dodge's economy car, the interior doesn't look low rent in any way, shape, or form. High-back bucket seats wear fresh upholstery that accurately replicates the original stuff and adds to the sporty personality. There aren't a lot of frills, because even back then it was designed to be affordable, but with a woodgrained dash it has a warm, inviting look. The factory instruments are clustered around a rectangular center speedometer, with a tachometer neatly installed on the colum and an oil pressure and temp gauge neatly installed under the dash like it has been there from the start. A AM/FM/cassette stereo was probably installed years ago and looks right in this '70s sportster, and a big Hurst T-handle shifter for the reverse valve body automtic is reminiscent of the pistol-grip handles of yore. The compact Demon is surprisingly practical, too, with a spacious trunk that's nicely finished and includes a full size spare. The heart of the Demon's success was a 340 cubic inch V8, which in the relatively lightweight body made for some impressive performance. Rebuilt with a mild cam inside, Edelbrock intake manifold, and a big Edelbrock 4bbl carburetor, it's a certainty that this car will run better than the high-14s it delivered when it was new. Bright Hemi Orange engine paint contrasts brashly with the yellow inner fenders and firewall, and there's enough chrome inside the engine bay to make things interesting. Long-tube headers and a throaty dual exhaust system, you'll never get tired of running it through the gears. Front disc brake conversion help to stop this awesome street machine The floors are undercoated and orderly,In Summation: Overall a older restoration that has had little road use. This demon was not just restored yesterday put the quality shows due to the fact how well the finish work was! This car is straight and the paint looks great! Get ready for the summer in a real Demon for under 23k!! International Bidders Welcome, Delivery to the port is available. Shipping and Payment: A $500 deposit required at end of auction end.
