For sale in our Detroit showroom is a 1970 AMC AMX. The AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation from 1968 to 1970. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but differed from other American cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name AMX is actually an acronym for American Motors eXperimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird , and rivaled the only other two-seat American muscle car: the Chevrolet Corvette. With a short three-year production run, the AMX was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the Javelin from %26acirc;??71-%26acirc;??74. This wild AMX makes quite the statement with the Ranger Splash Purple covering the cool and vintage bodylines. Under the hood is a 360 V8 that has been bored out to a 390, and with the sides pipes, produces a loud rumble that will turn some heads every time the pedal hits the floor. Since 3 pedals make a classic a blast to cruise around in, this AMC has an M-22 Muncie 4-speed. To keep with the pro-street theme, the car has been backhalfed and tubbed to fit the huge 33X21.50-15LT Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires, and the rear end is a Ford 9-inch with a 5.13 gears. The interior has been worked on as well, and features a 10-point rollcage, and no back seat to make room for the rear tires. The dash features Autometer gauges to monitor engine functions, and the seats also have Simpson racing harnesses to firmly hold you in place during hard launches. Options on the car include: aluminum/alloy wheels. If you want a wild and powerful muscle car with unforgettable looks and plenty of ponies under the hood, the call today to put it in your garage! Located in our Detroit showroom, this 1970 AMX can be viewed in greater detail, including HD photos and video, at www.GatewayClassicCars.com, or call (313)-982-3100 for more information. Loaded with factory options and cosmetically restored to excellent, like-new condition! Ram Air 390 V8 with Go Package option and factory fitted with air conditioning! Only 74,000 original miles! Just awesome! American Motors Corporation seemed to feel a little left out of the Pony Car race with the unbelievable success of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro leading the way. They decided to bring their own design to the market in 1968 as the new Javelin! They packed in new safety features to allure the insurance companies, but loaded up on the power options as well to make the horsepower junkies could be satisfied as well! It proved to be a great design and lead AMC to success at the race track as well! By 1970, the brand new, one-year only design paved the way for Roger Penske (Penske Racing owner) to help Mark Donohue (hall of fame driver) to great SCCA Trans Am series success for the next 6 straight years! It placed second in 1970, and first place the next three out of five years! This was up against cars like the Mustang Boss 302, Camaro Z/28, and Plymouth Cuda AAR! It comes as a great surprise these cars have yet to explode on the collector car market! Only time will tell, but we already feel the performance packed Javelin is a sound blue chip investment! We are excited to tell you about this 1970 Javelin SST hardtop that has been beautifully restored in 2004 to original specifications! Finished in factory correct Frost White with Black vinyl roof over correct Red Corduroy Cloth bucket interior! Options include the high-output 390ci V8 4-barrel Ram Air engine provided with the SST Go-Package, automatic transmission with wood grained Shift Command console and pistol grip selector, 3.54 Twin-Grip limited slip rear axle, high back bucket seats, factory air conditioning (recently restored with R134a components that included brand new compressor, evaporator, hoses, & dryer), power steering, Safe Command power front disc brakes, 14 Magnum 500 styled steel wheels with white letter tires, faux wood comfort grip sport steering wheel with Rim Blow horn, windshield washer, remote drivers side sport mirror, red exterior side stripe, handling package with front sway bar, heavy duty cooling package, rocker trim, stainless door sills, wood grained dash with Rallye tachometer & 140-mph speedometer, day/night rearview mirror, trunk & glove box light, and so much more!! This car features just 74,394 actual miles from new! Fully documented with receipts and copies of former owners titles! This brilliant car drives with the explosive caliber you first read about, then experience fully on a test drive around the block! It survives with the correct X-code 390ci Ram Air engine that produces a grin-inducing 325 factory horsepower, rebuilt Motorcraft 4-barrel carburetor with factory American Motors tag still attached, correct dual exhaust with chrome tips exiting the rear with a perfect note, smooth shifting automatic transmission, and a rear end ready to leave your mark wherever your right foot felt too heavy! It will come with factory original spare saver spare tire, inflator canister, jack, & wrench; factory American Motors ignition and trunk keys; original factory buildsheet; original owners manual; factory information stickers in the engine bay, trunk, & drivers door jam; a host of American Motors memorabilia & promotional material, and an Owners Association badge proudly displayed on the front grill! It is hard to convey what a muscle car should feel & look like to stir ones sole, but we feel this one very affordable way to find out!! Please feel free to call with any questions. I am re-listing the car hoping someone will keep me from parting this out and selling it for scrap.-----------------------------------------------------Bought this car (saved it from the crusher) as a restoration project with my son. Divorce has forced a sale and with deep regret we need to depart with the project. This VIN number indicates it's an original 390 4-speed car. Door tag says it's an SST with a rare blue interior. If all true, the car appears to be pretty rare. ((PlanetHoustonAMX.com (Long-time AMC reputable source) has suggested only 2730 produced. Of that, I do not know how many were 4-speed cars)I do not have the original title but I do have: New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Retail Certificate of Sale for the vehicle (with VIN#), Vehicle Purchase agreement from the dealer whom I bought the car from (with VIN#), and the NY State Registration Renewal card from the previous owner dated back to 1980 (with VIN#). (see pic). All of them have matching VIN numbers so obtaining a new title (if required in your state) should not be a problem. In Illinois these documents are acceptable for a title replacement. But if you are unsure of your state, you can always use broadwaytitle.com. They are very good and easy to use. I believe this car is a Mark Donohue edition (original spoiler, options, etc) but as most AMC enthusiast know without original dealer documentation to prove it's authenticity, it's simply a Javelin. Most of the interior is there (blue door panels, blue seats, kick panels, dash parts, 140mph speedo, etc.) but of course it needs restoration. All the glass and mechanisms are there but missing the outside window trim. The body is relatively solid (for a 44 year old car). Most importantly the areas of concern are sound. i.e. shock towers, windshield A-pillars, roof, radiator support braces, leaf spring mounts, etc. Doors are OK with a few dings. Ram Air hood and Trunk lid have slight surface rust on the undersides but are also in great shape. However it does need fenders, quarters, and inner rocker panels (as do all AMC Javelins). Trunk floor pans and seat floor pans are OK. The car has a 3:54 axle with no drive train. I am listing the car as-is and the price does NOT include an engine or transmission. The car is in dry storage and can be seen by appointment. It took a lot to save this car and I had it shipped from NY to keep it from the crusher. I know I could recoup my costs and make a profit by parting it out, but as a life-long AMC collector, that goes against every fiber in my being. So, I would like to sell the car to someone with intentions to restore it (or at least lie to me and tell me you will) and prefer not to part it out. The price listed is exactly what I have into the car. I don't want to make money on it..only to pass it on. Feel free to ask me any questions at all.

- Complete Restoration!- Arizona Car!- Pristine Paint!- AMC 290ci V8!- 3-Speed Automatic!- Lots of Original Literature!- Same Owner for the Past 9 Years! The AMC Javelin is a pony car that was built by the American Motors Corporation between 1967 and 1974 in two generations; model years 1968-1970 (with a separate design in 1970) and 1971-1974. The sporty Javelins came only as two-door hardtop (with no \"B\" pillar) body style, and were available in economical versions or as high-performance muscle cars.MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer another handsome, 1st generation 1968 AMC Javelin SST. This particular Javelin has gone through an extensive restoration and has a binder full of photos documenting the restoration from start to finish! The car was the recipient of a high quality, professional paint job, finished in the correct color of Rally Green Metallic and we are hard pressed to find imperfections! The paint is accented by two center white stripes that were professionally painted on and look fantastic. The chrome on the car appears to be new and shines bright. Overall, this may be one of the best restored AMC Javelin SST\'s we\'ve seen!Inside, you will find that the interior has been taken care of throughout the years. The seats are finished in the correct tan vinyl with a matching dashboard, functioning gauges and lights. The seats show very minimal, if any wear at all. There are minor imperfections to the top of the dash and on the door handles. There is also an AM/FM radio installed in the dash. It\'s very obvious this Javelin was loved and you can be the next one to love it even more!Under the hood of this green beauty, you can find the 290ci, AMC V8 engine with a two barrel carburetor. Attached to the V8 is a 3-speed automatic transmission with a floor shifter. The engine compartment is very clean and tidy. The car you\'re seeing here has power steering, air conditioning and power front disc brakes. This Javelin has 14\" chrome American Motors wheels wrapped in 6.95-14 4-ply red stripe tires all the way around, which really compliment the paint and set off the entire car\'s sporty look. The tires are in decent shape with no dry rot to be seen.Included with the purchase of this Javelin is the original 1968 AMX/Javelin Owner\'s Manual, 1968 AMC Optional Equipment %26amp; Accessories catalog, 1968 catalog of all vehicles offered by AMC and a Javelin Photo Archive book. I started to collect parts to begin the restoration - New tail lights, A VERY VERY VERY hard to find 1970 front grille (in GREAT condition) and the entire Ram Air Assembly in great condition. The car has a 3:54 axle with no drive train. I am listing the car as-is and the price does NOT include an engine or transmission. The car is in dry storage and can be seen by appointment. Of note: I do have an original 1970 390 Donahue engine and BW 4-speed trans with a Hurst shifter (engine is disassembled and in pieces but all there) I pulled out of a Donahue back in 1986. The car was totaled and the owner was sending it on the the junk yard. He let me pull the engine and keep it before the tow truck came. Yes, it was a real Donahue as I saw the original paperwork in 1986 (no camera-phone's back then so I couldn't take a pic of the dealer sheet). This is why I pulled the motor. Only parts missing from the motor are the water pump, timing chain housing, and distributor. I managed to keep this motor for the most part over the years with all intentions of putting it into a restored Donahue. But I am willing to let it go with the car for the right offer. Feel free to ask me any questions at all.

Please let me start with what I have been told by the Rebel Machine community - This car is one of one. It is the only known Frost White, blue vinyl top, and blue interior Machine produced. If anyone knows different, please feel free to let me know. It is not my intention to mislead anyone. There were 1000 white ones with the red, white, and blue accents but this is a true Frost White car. The car is being sold as a roller-no engine or transmission. I have rebuilt several AMX's and this car is a great candidate for restoration. I ran a magnet over the entire car and the only place I encountered bondo was below the passenger side rear marker light. The car has basically been a drag car for the past 30 years. Most all of the racing related items have been removed except for the roll cage, shocks, torsion bars, and rear axles. The car has solid floors and trunk but is in need of body work. The glass is all good. The trim is quite nice and I only see 2 piecies missing-the driver side rear window corner and a piece on the passenger side where the vinyl top trim meets the rear side glass. The car is lacking the front seats and gas tank. The roll cage is only surface welded and is a relatively easy removal. I have a radio for the car as well as the stock rear axles, springs, and assorted misc. items all stashed in the trunk. I have also purchased the chrome shifter plate and shifter for the console. THE FRONT WHEELS AND TIRES ARE NOT INCLUDED. The interior in readily available through Lengendary. The car will come with roller stock tires and wheels-I do not have the Machine wheels-nothing special. The differential needs new gears as the teeth are damaged but I have included a replacement set of 4:1- gears-currently the ratio in the car. The rear bumper and tail lights are excellant-the front bumper needs to be redone. The hood has had the scoop replaced with a non-tach scoop and will need the proper scoop replaced on it-I have a plate and seal for the hood in the trunk but no air cleaner. This car is a 390, automatic, PS, PB, and air conditioning car. I also have the brake booster in the trunk. I hope the pictures provide you the oinformation you are looking for. However, feel free to call me at 701-205-6906 if you have concerns. Thank you, Dean On Apr-27-14 at 14:43:44 PDT, seller added the following information: I would also like to add I have the filler neck for the gas tank but not the gas tank itself. On Apr-29-14 at 17:12:27 PDT, seller added the following information: I stand corrected. There is another Frost white car on the Rebel Registry, however it has black interior and no mention of the vinyl top. I still believe this is one of one-not another one like it was built.
