You are bidding on a 1958 Alfa Romeo Spider. This is the desirable early 750 series, and even more desirable because it is originally a black car with red interior, which was verified by Mr. Fazio of the Alfa archives in Italy. It does not appear to have ever been repainted. It has been in storage for over 30 years. The previous owner was going to do a valve job, so he removed the head, put it in the trunk with some of the other engine ancillaries, and never worked on it again. The engine and transmission, as well as all the associated engine parts, air cleaner, etc, are original to the car and the engine is matching numbers. I checked the dates on most of the Lucas electrics on the car, and they are all dated 1958, meaning they are almost certainly the original ones that came with the car when it was new. This includes the coil, regulator, starter, generator, etc. There is some rust here and there on the car, and I have tried to show all the rusty areas in the pictures. The car will need new floors and some patches here and there. The previous owner was apparently going to replace the floors, so he cut out the rusty areas, which is why the holes in the floors are squared off. There is no evidence of any accident damage on the car. This is a very complete and original car. The parts you don't see in or on the car are in the trunk. The only thing I noticed that was missing was the air cleaner. I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the name of a good, reliable shipper if you wish. 1974 GTV with near perfect interior, beautiful paint and body. Undercarriage and body are rust free. Car originally from California...then Florida. Repainted 15 years ago in original aubergine. The car is in very good condtion all around showing only minor blemishes and a recent scrape on rocker panel. (see picts). Engine runs strong and has Weber doce 40 carberatours and euro airbox. Brakes and clutch good/strong. Alfaholics staninless exhaust, (5) GTA perfect Veloce wheels from Alfaholics and Michelin Pilot tires (includes additional original spare as well). Dash in good condition, all gauges work, air conditioning (R134) blows cold. Rare Corello headlights and foglights (all work perfectly including brights, toggle switches.) Polished front and rear Euro bumpers in perfect condition. I have recently installed a new radiator/fan shroud, wiper motor and changed oil. This is a GTV that looks runs and drives beuautifully. The climate control buttons and a few other buttons in the center cluster do not function properly. Keep in mind, this is a 24 year old Italian car and not a new Prius. The Alfa Romeo Montreal is often referred to as the concept car that became reality. Alfa Romeo displayed a prototype of a beautiful Gandini designed model during the 1967 World Expo in ... you guessed it ... Montreal, Canada. The design was an instant hit and Alfa decided to put it into production. Of course they were years away from having a real car as they didn't even have an engine for it. The engine was as much as a departure for Alfa as was the rest of the car. A V8 engine was chosen using a Spica fuel injection. Somehow they were able to stuff it in the engine compartment! It took Alfa four years to get the car into the market, but they did. Interesting that the car was never sold in the USA or Canada. I love driving this Montreal ! The V8 engine is very smooth and the 5-speed ZF gearbox is super light. My particular Montreal came from a Florida Alfa aficionado that babied the car. Stay away from ratty Montreals as these cars are not easy to work on! A well sorted Montreal is reliable and trouble free. My car has the optional AC but I never got around to install the belts after the previous owner had to cut them in order to replace the alternator belt. New belts come with the car. Seats are very comfortable and the instrument gauges are cool and quite interesting. Body construction was very good and they tend to rust a lot less than similar Italian cars of the era. This particular Montreal is rust free and straight. The engine compartment is very clean and original as so many cars have modifications to the injection and ignition systems. The interior is original and the cloth seat covers were redone as per original. Comes with original owner's manual, jack, maintenance/repair book. Car is just north of Atlanta, Georgia and can be viewed by appointment.
