Well, it's got all the right ingredients: great colors, excellent preservation, just 17,446 original miles, the top-of-the-line powerplant, and every available option. And oh, yeah, one other thing: it's very affordable today. You probably can't get a nicer luxury car for less money than this. The Eldorado Touring Coupe was rather awkwardly branded the "ETC" but that does nothing to diminish its handsome look. The long hood, short deck theme is still in evidence, but the sleek roofline with the almost fastback rear window gives it an updated look that was perfect for the late '90s. Basic black is the quintessential Cadillac color, and on the Touring Coupe, almost everything was covered in it: grille, bumpers, mirrors, door handles, everything. You do get a chrome band around the center of the car and a white pinstripe to break it up, but this is one sinister yet elegant Cadillac. Of course, with so few miles, it's in excellent condition, with a deep gloss that proves that you got your money's worth with a $50,000 Cadillac. The chin hasn't been beaten up by parking lot curbs and driveway aprons and panel gaps are excellent throughout. We never realized just how good Cadillacs were back in the 1990s. Black leather lines the interior of the Touring Coupe, and it's arguably one of GM's very best designs. A sweeping instrument panel with Zebrano wood inserts makes it feel airy despite the acres of black hides, and there's a center console that helps to warm the place up a bit. Every single option was included on this car, including power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a trip computer neatly integrated into the instrument panel display. The leather seats are in almost new condition, the carpets are unmarked thanks to heavy-duty mats, and the wood trim has a brilliant gloss that matches the bodywork. Everything works, of course, and it's so quiet in here that you can hear the minute differences in the AM/FM/CD stereo system compared to your other cars. The back seat is big enough for real-sized adults and the trunk is Cadillac huge with a cargo net and built-in CD changer. Cadillac's "Northstar" 4.6 liter V8 engine was a big deal in the 1990s, representing the brand's first attempt at a truly world-class powerplant. With 300 horsepower on tap and an equal amount of torque, it moves the luxurious coupe like a muscle car, not a luxury barge. They've also proven to be bulletproof reliable, and this one has a lot of life left in it, with just over 17,000 original miles on it. The engine bay is neatly dressed and it's all original, of course. It starts with a muscular bark from the dual exhaust pipes and thanks to a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, pulls down surprisingly good fuel economy out on the road. The all-independent suspension was tuned a little sportier than the standard Eldorado but it's still smooth and luxurious, and standard 4-wheel disc brakes instill confidence. Optional chrome alloy wheels look brilliant against the black paint and are fitted with brand new 235/60/16 Vogue gold line tires, and you know how expensive those are. You'd be surprised how much fun this Eldorado is to drive, and the luxury features stack up well with today's cars. If you want a high-quality V8 luxury car at an economy car price, good luck finding one nicer than this. Beautiful 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Hardtop. A Southern car from new, with a Black exterior with Grey cloth and leather trim interior. Has all original interior with just some light wear mostly in the drivers seat area, and some small age related trim wear on headliner and other interior parts (see the pics). This Cadillac has been in the same owners collection since 1981, having been stored inside and covered most all of its life. Has all the standard 60 Special fittings with all power windows and 4 power vent windows, all main windows function fine but the 4 power vent windows have the usual sticky operation/movement. The 8 way power front seat does not work some of the time, just needs a switch cleaning I think. Car has original Factory AC system fitted with all components in place but has not been charged or used in many years, so does not currently work. Exterior was repainted in original Black in 1990 and still looks excellent with only 2 minor areas of deterioration, one being the lower right corner of the rear window molding showing some bubbling corrosion and a lower 6" area of the right front fender has some bubbling rust peeping thru ( see pics ). A few cracks in the top dash pad, see pics. Very nice all original trunk materials with jack and spare. The tires are old wide white wall bias ply, they hold air well and have nice tread but probably not good for a cross country drive. Has a couple of light wiper scratch lines on the drivers side of the windshield that may polish out and is missing the Fleetwood badge on the trunk. Super nice solid body with some light corrosion spots on the chrome and bumpers, see the pics. Very nice under body chassis with just the normal very light surface rust of a 55 Year old Caddy. Has just recently been fitted with a NEW Battery, Water Pump, belts and hoses And an electric fuel pump to replace the OE mechanical one. Original AM signal seeker radio that works. Working power door locks. Has some various glass delamanation as is common on all cars of this age, see pics. The original Cadillac Series 60 was produced from 1936-38, but the model was maintained as the Series 60 Special from 1939 to 1976, and then again from 1987-93. The eighth generation of Cadillac to bear the name 60 Special was built from 1961 to 1964 on the full size rear-wheel-drive C Platform. The car was popularly known as a Fleetwood. With the exception of the Eldorado Biarritz convertible, the Fleetwood 60 Special was Cadillac’s most expensive passenger car. The prices of the Series 6700 were higher, but those were extended-length limousines, hearses, and ambulances. The Fleetwood 60 Special was available only as a four-door hardtop, with a long list of standard features including power seats, power windows, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, dual backup lights, windshield washer, two-speed wipers, and a remote control trunk lock. Available options included air conditioning. Engine power was provided by Cadillac’s 390-cid V-8 with a single Rochester four-barrel carburetor, which offered 325 horsepower. From 1961-63, the 60 Special used GM’s trusty Hydramatic automatic transmission. Styling changed substantially over the years, with 1961 models sporting the sharp tail fins, popular since the late 1950s, but in 1962 these were toned down and the fins were almost gone by the end of 1964. In 1961, the grille was creased across the midline and sloped back towards both the hood and chrome bumper. For 1962, the crease was vertical, with the grille sides sloping towards the headlights. A strong horizontal center bar divided the grille in 1963-64, and the lower portion of the grille swooped over the fog lights. Cadillac made about 14,000 per year from 1962 to 1964.

William L. "Bill" Mitchell was an automobile designer who was recruited by Harley Earl to join the Art and Colour Section of General Motors in 1935. Mitchell is responsible for creating or influencing the design of over 72.5 million automobiles produced by GM, including such landmark vehicles as the 1949 Cadillac with its P38 influenced fins, the 1955-57 Chevrolet Bel Air, the 1961-76 Corvette Stingray, and his swan song, the 1980-1985 Cadillac Seville. Since it was the last design of consequence that General Motors design chief Bill Mitchell oversaw, Wayne Kady’s 1980 Cadillac Seville is thought by some to be the ultimate expression of Mitchell’s design philosophy. No doubt Mitchell was a fan of what he called the “London look”, and the ’80 Seville had that in spades: a classic vertical grille, a bustle shaped rear end, a raked C pillar and a long hood. When accused of borrowing the bustle-back from a contemporary Lincoln, Mitchell reportedly got indignant and said that he stole it from Rolls-Royce, not the cross-town competition in Dearborn. The second generation Seville made its debut in the fall of 1979 to great fanfare and controversy. Although there were decent production numbers for this body’s 6 year run, very few were saved by collectors, mainly because of the popularity of the midsized coupes of this era. This is proving to have been a big oversight. On any given day you can find a nice low mile Eldorado of this generation, but a pristine low mile Seville is very scarce. And Cadillac collectors have noticed, with the demand for a nice second generation Seville more than doubling the price over the last five years. This gorgeous low mile, all original Seville was purchased recently by my 87 year old father, who has always driven Cadillacs and lamented the sale of his series 2 Seville in the 1990s. Unfortunately though, after recent triple bypass surgery, and while he is in great overall health, he (we) decided his driving days are setting. After scouring Hemmings, eBay, and Craigslist, he found this car local. It was the pride and joy of a local personage who had two cars, this Seville and a Lincoln Towncar; the Seville was her go to Sunday church car. Dad acquired the car from her estate; he dealt with her nephew who as a professional mechanic, had always taken care of her cars. This Seville has always been garaged, has always had a battery tender attached, has always been started regularly, and has always been serviced regularly. One interesting detail, look for the image of the door jamb service sticker that shows a 1991 oil change at 21xxx miles. Freshly Serviced: After purchase, we took the car to my mechanic and had him do a comprehensive service. Here is a list of what we had him do: · Replaced the master-brake cylinder. · Brakes themselves were in tip-top shape but we did a complete brake fluid flush after replacing the master brake cylinder. · New front shocks. · New exhaust system from the exhaust pipe back, including a new muffler and resonator. · New OEM power antenna motor. · New plugs and a general tune-up. · New tires. The tires on the car were like new but they were installed in 2009 and had developed a flat spot on one tire. · Oil and filter change. · Coolant was like new so we didn’t drain or flush. · Belts and hoses were like new so we left them alone. · Battery is good. Wiper blades are good. Every light works. All instruments work. Mileage computer works. Everything works. Remarkable. Mechanically, this car is ready to drive across the country. The AC works great, the climate control system works as new, the cruise control works as new, the optional radio/cassette player sounds great, not a rattle or hum. However I noticed that when using the cassette, one channel will go in and out. It might be that the head needs to be cleaned with a Q-Tip and alcohol. Or it could have been the included cassette of Patsy Cline; I don’t have another cassette to test. Visually the car is like new. It is in spectacular condition. Not a door ding, scratch, the panels are laser straight; there has never been any body damage and there is zero rust or corrosion. All the light lenses are clear without fade. It is in as close to mint condition as you will ever find. I have seen newer cars with the same mileage that could not hold up to comparison; the car is in remarkable condition. Even the cigarette lighters have never been used. The car’s interior smells like a new car, the leather is spotless and supple. All the glass, rubber grommets, and seals are like the day they left the factory. No scratches to the all original glass, all the rubber bits are in fantastic shape. The last thing to mention would be how visually, the car is a really beautiful color. The same can be said about the leather, which comes very close to matching the exterior hue. I spent a lot of time looking up the paint codes and the paint code WA-8240 was called WOODLAND HAZE METALLIC. The interior color I believe was called MEDIUM COGNAC. I decoded the RPO codes online from the Cadillac forum and the interior code corresponds to four different options. As two were for an Opel, which is GM in Europe, and one was for a Holden, GM built in Australia; I deduced the MEDIUM COGNAC would be the correct color name for the US. Please see the entire list of the included GM RPO codes and notes that are at the end of this listing. You will see that there are some codes that show as “No Match”, I did my best to find out what those codes corresponded to but in searching the Cadillac forum, found other owners having the same issue so assume that without further investigation, we will have to accept that we tried. A long listing, yes. I tried to highlight each area of interest, so for those who aren’t as obsessive, wouldn’t have to wade thru the minutia. For those that enjoy the details, well here you go! It is a really nice car that is worth spending the time on. Price: Well I know we spent the dollars to acquire the best but Dad is open to reasonable offers. This is one of 2,500 Allantes made in the year 1991, out of a total 21,430 made between 1987 and 1993. Painted in a striking red finish this has a nice black interior. The window switch on the driver's door does not work. I was going to fix it but no longer have the time. (I have another switch). The car has a rebuilt title as the front bumper cover was damaged and I had to replace it. (These are not cheap). It has the factory hardtop for an early 1990. Has a nice black soft top. Please ask any questions and I will give an honest answer. Some fading of paint as shown. Car has Indy 500 graphics on the car-tribute to the 1993 Indy 500 Edition Allantes. Radio not working. Dash has typical curling. Have the original hardtop stand and cover. I have not been able to drive this the last two years due to my schedule and it is getting harder for me to get out of the car with arthritis. This vehicle was designed by the Italian sports car designer Pininfarina, and was Cadillac's first venture into the two seat convertible sports car market. In 1993, the price was $62,000. Allante's engine, the new Northstar V8. I had hoped to repair this low mileage car for my wife to drive. I drove a 91 and another 93 all summer and had a blast. Now it has to go. If you've never driven in an Allante before find one to test drive-you will then want one of your own. Always gets great compliments and second looks. Introduced in early 1992 for the 1993 model year, Allante was scaled down to just one model this year, the soft-top convertible priced at $59,975 (not including a mandatory $1,700 gas guzzler tax for vehicles sold in the United States). The removable 60.5 lb (27.4 kg). aluminum hardtop was now a separate option, as well as the $495 LCD digital instrument cluster in place of the standard analog instruments. Also available, chrome squeeze-cast aluminum wheels. For its final outing, Allante received the 4.6 L Northstar DOHC V8. This engine was initially rated at 290 hp (216 kW), but Cadillac upped the rating to 295 hp (220 kW) at 5600 rpm by the time the first models were sold. Torque output was 290 ft lb at 4400 rpm. A new unequal-length control arm rear suspension, shared with the Seville and Eldorado, was also introduced that year, improving handling. Also new for the small Cadillacs was Road Sensing Suspension, an active damper management system, and improved disc brakes. Other changes for the Allante included a revised variable-assist power steering rack, deeper front spoiler, and single-piece side windows, which did away with the stationary forward vent window.A 1992 comparison test of the Northstar-powered Allante by Car and Driver placed it above the Jaguar XJS V12 convertible and the Mercedes-Benz 300SL in North America.
