Not surprisingly, this exceptional Fairlane mixes re-plated trim with a roster of cool and carefully duplicated details. At the front of the car, an exaggerated egg-crate grille hangs a small AACA Touring plaque between clean headlights, chrome-trimmed parking lamps, intricate header emblems and a mirrored bumper that bends around peaked fenders. Between those fenders, a chrome-detailed hood leads the eye to tinted glass that's framed by thick trim, cleared by bright wipers and reflected in a correct mirror. Below that mirror, classy door handles, subtle fender skirts and polished rocker guards perfectly complement elaborate side sweeps, expressive "Victoria" scripts and small "THUNDERBIRD V8" emblems. And opposite those emblems, a pivotal "Fairlane" badge rides between chrome-trimmed, jet-inspired taillights and a second wraparound bumper. ENGINE Hoist this Ford's lightweight hood and you'll find a correct, 292 cubic inch Thunderbird V8 that, during the car's extensive restoration, was bored .030 over, fully rebuilt and fitted with 12-volt electronic ignition. Introduced in 1955, this stout little Y-block remained an option in blue oval staples well into the mid-1970s. At the top of the bright orange mill, a familiar silver air cleaner draws wind into an updated, 390cfm Holley, which is stacked between a Lokar throttle linkage and fresh stainless fuel lines. Atomized octane passes through a stock intake manifold to correct, cast iron heads, which cap a balanced rotating assembly. At the front of those heads, a rebuilt generator and correct fan spin in unison as a restored radiator keeps things cool via pliable hoses. And spark comes courtesy of a traditional points distributor, which sequences fire through 7mm High Temperature Static Suppression cables. From its black, Thunderbird-branded valve covers to its fresh Autolite battery topper, this cruiser's glossy engine bay presents a clean, authentic appearance. And best of all, the 202 horsepower mill fires instantly and sounds surprisingly beefy through cast iron exhaust manifolds and factory-style tail pipes. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION At the bottom of this Victoria, a fully sorted undercarriage houses professionally restored floors that are bolted to lots of factory-correct components. Nice enough to show but still fully drivable, this is the perfect compromise for enthusiasts who like to display their classic AND enjoy occasional weekend getaways. Behind the aforementioned Y-block, the car's modern AOD 4-speed, a rebuilt unit originally sourced from a 1991 Mustang GT, sends power to a factory Ford axle. A sturdy suspension remains in its original configuration with coils up front, leafs out back and traditional manual steering. Braking is quick and adequate thanks to fresh drums at all four corners. On the outside of those drums, painted steel wheels spin 215/75R15 Eldorado whitewalls around classy chrome hubcaps. And all the chassis' parts feature an immaculate, weather-free appearance, reinforcing the idea that it's been a very long time since this hardtop's seen daily-driver duty. INTERIOR 2-tone paint is legendary for its characteristically '50s feel. And when paired with this Fairlane's airy interior, it creates the perfect culmination of style and sophistication. For sale is my 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria 2 door Hard Top. These cars are hard to find anywhere. It has a lot of surface rust, but it has rusted through in the quarter panels and in the back corners of the trunk. The rest of the floor pan is pretty solid. It comes with a 292, automatic Transmission, an extra trunk lid, 2 extra hood ornaments, a handful of extra trim pieces, and the parts necessary for a front disc brake conversion. We got this for my father for his 70th birthday a few years ago, and since then he has had some health issues so we need to unload it. The car comes with the interior and the front fenders/hood. It's basically a complete car, it's just in rough shape and will need a full restoration. We have almost $8000 in the car. But this restomod has plenty of power to back up its mean machine looks thanks to modern V8 Lightning thrust. This is the perfect coupe to draw everyone in at the car show. It looks pretty stock at a first glance, with bright chrome in front and sweeping down the side. But then people start to take notice of the rich black gloss of the paint, and they begin to realize how butter-smooth the whole car looks without any bumper bolts or extra badging. As people get closer, they start to wonder are the rear taillights blacked-out? And does that say "Lightning" in the red pinstriping running down the side chrome? Yes, this is one interesting custom coupe that draws gawkers in like flies to honey. Inside there are even more signs of a serious investment in custom work. The original 50's style decor has been custom merged with a Ford interior that's four decades younger. That gives this restomod more modern comfort and flair with features such as a full gauge package, cruise control, tilt wheel, and air conditioning. There's even a center console holding a modern AM/FM/CD radio with stereo speakers. The original interior has been given a custom treatment so the door panels and leather seats now coordinate with the black and red on the exterior. Because the front bench is fully split, the driver now also gets a power chair. But that's not the best feature from behind the wheel. For that, all you need to do is turn the key and listen to a rumble that doesn't sound like anything else from 1956. Under the hood is a big surprise. This is the fuel-injected 351 cubic-inch EFI V8 directly out of a 1994 Ford F-150 Lightning. This now-famous truck was known for being the beefy answer to Chevy's big-block performance pickup, and all that horsepower and torque is being used to move this classic coupe. But it wasn't just the motor that was fitted in this Fairlane. The stout Ford E4OD four-speed overdrive transmission was also lifted from the Lightning. This is good news because the electronically controlled unit was specifically programmed for the extra power of Ford's performance truck. The upgrades continue all the way down the driveshaft where this one is running Ford Racing's limited-slip rear with a 3.27 ratio. That strong rear end is good for both performance and everyday use. She runs like a top and most things work! She is pretty straight and has a great curb presence with a tasteful two-tone paint scheme and dual spotlights. This corn-belt car is very solid and clean and still has all the FACTORY driveline along with all the FACTORY body panels it was born with! Only a few pieces of interior and exterior items have been changed. The original 312ci motor purrs and the automatic transmission doesn’t wait to move you along. The body is very solid but the lower front fenders have had some minor body work done decades ago and it is starting to show. Doors and quarters look great as do the trunk drop-offs, trunk floor, trunk filler panel, and spare tire well. Body is nice and shiny in its present state, no major dents but the paint is decades old and it does have several areas where the paint is peeling and flaking. A bit of pinstriping was added recently to give it more of a fifties vibe. It’s basically a stored survivor and could be used as a cruiser or restored to original factory condition without the major expenses of rust repair. The chrome, stainless and brite work on the car is in good-to-excellent condition. Just the bumpers, mirrors and door handles need to be rechromed. The bumpers could be polished to make them more presentable. The bumpers are very straight and have the factory bumper guards, front and rear. Window channels look good and so does the glass (no cracks or sanding marks). All the exterior trim is there with minimal pitting. Doors, trunk and hood operate as they should with matching keys. Weatherstripping and rubber are good for their age but are original pieces. Factory fender skirts have all their mounting hardware Interior The interior is good condition for being an older restoration - probably in the '80s. Seats are in very nice condition. No rips or tears. But being an older restoration there is some minor wear. The dark green loop carpeting is in good condition. Seats and door panels are nice but will need a cleaning. Although most of the interior is nice, there may be evidence of wear due to the age of the car. Headliner for example is starting to fray at the rear corners as is the package tray. Most everything works on the dash and the original radio is in the trunk and does not work. The steering wheel is in good condition with minor aging but does have a leather steering wheel wrap on it. The Drivetrain is a 312ci with 4-barrel carb which runs great, idles and drives, doesn’t overheat, or really leak but has not had a tune up in a few years. The transmission operates and shifts as it should. No problems in the rearend. Steering is a bit loose and brakes, I was told by the owner, will need replaced soon but it does stop fine. The Undercarriage is in nice condition too. Floor pans, rockers and frame are original and in good condition. Trunk drop-offs and trunk floor are nice as listed above. Spare tire, along with the jack, are in the trunk. Interior of the trunk has a trunk mat and the floor under it looks great. The dual exhaust system looks very good and has “FORD” accessory tips installed. The white wall tires are nice and come with factory hubcaps. Other info: The car is in pretty much original condition with the following items replaced… battery, tires and radio. Temperature gauge need is stuck all of the way to the right. The car only starts in neutral. Please review the pictures regarding paint and body issues. I’m listing some of the more obvious issues but the pictures display additional flaws. Front passenger headlight bucket has major paint peeling. Hood lip has some minor rust bubbles as you can see from the pictures. Back deck in a few places on the top of the quarter panels have some paint peeling issues. Again, this is a 55-year old car that is basically original. It really has never been restored so we have tried to list everything we could but it does have a few little bumps and bruises that happen with normal driving.
