Up for auction with a low starting bid is a cherry project 1948 Chevy Panel Van/Delivery Truck. This truck does have a low reserve. This truck is located in arid West Texas and is free of major cancer. The rust you see is almost all surface rust (some small areas on the running boards and rear corners are eaten through). It has an inline 6 and a manual tranny, which I'm told will fire and run with a little work (can't verify). It is completely free of major dents, except for an easy fix on the passenger door. The best part of this truck is that it has a title from the state of New Mexico in ex-owner's name (just bought it for a cousin two weeks ago and my cousin changed his mind about restoring it), so all documentation is fresh. Has a non-original 5-bolt car rear end, I believe, maybe of the tri-five vintage. I will assist loading onto a trailer or delivery semi, if you choose to have it shipped (your expense). The interior boards are really good shape and it comes with what I think is a non-original bench seat pictured. Fantastic buy and fantastic opportunity to own a first-series panel truck. Wish I could keep it. The roof is cherry and the rear fenders appear to be cherry too. This has some filler on the front driver passenger fender and a little up by the cap, which is coming off. It needs a good sandblasting and bodywork, but it shouldn't be too much trouble. Like I said, it's very nice. No glass, but frames appear to be there. Rear doors need slight alignment. There is chrome pieces and bezels and instrumentation in the truck, which I will box up. It has the original leaf spring suspension in the back and the solid axle in the front. It's a real cool project. Also, comes with enginer and radiator. I've never started her up (like I said my cousin backed out on the project). It will be shipped with four roller wheels and it is an easy push. I can deliver for a fee if within 300 or so miles of me. If not, buyer is responsible for shipping. Chevy with a Weiand 671 Supercharger and the following specifications: 1. 400 cu. in. block, 4 bolt main, bored .030 over to 4.155 in. 2. 3.48 in. stroke 350 cu. in. Chevy steel crankshaft. 3. 5.7 in. Chevy Bow Tie connecting rods with 7/16 - 20 bolts. 4. TRW/Speed Pro Power forged blower pistons with Total Seal piston rings. 5. Crane Fireball 485 roller camshaft with True Roller timing chain. 6. Dart Sportsman cylinder heads with Comp roller lifters and roller rockers. 7. Hedman headers with 3 in. collectors. 8. Dual Edelbrock 600 cfm 4 barrel carburators. 9. Mallory Unilite distributor and PerTronix Flame Thrower II coil. The top has been chopped 5 inches, the body has been shaved of door handles, bumpers, wipers and all trim, and a custom roll pan was added front and rear complete with LED lights. Door latches have been replaced with electric bear claw latches with remote control from key fob. The bed was replaced with a late model steel bed and Bow Tie tailgate. A Horkey Show Deck removable wood floor sets inside the bed. The wood floor is ash with stainless steel skid strips. An antique steamer trunk is mounted in the bed for storage. Underneath the front suspension has been replaced with a 1970s Camaro independent front suspension. The transmission is a GM Turbo 350 with dash mounted LED gear indicator. The rear end is a leaf spring mounted GM 12 bolt open differential with 3.55:1 gear ratio and coil-over shocks. Disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear with console mounted emergency brake. Duel 2 1/2 in exhaust run from the headers through Flowmaster mufflers into chrome exhaust tips. The custom interior is finished with tan leather and vinyl with tan carpet. It has been fitted with a GM tilt steering column, custom steering wheel, Dolphin gauges, power door locks, power windows, power driver's seat, shoulder/seat belts, and a custom center console. The console is fitted with a Pioneer 6.1 inch LCD touch screen radio/cd/dvd/iPod player that is iPhone compatible and is GPS and back-up camera ready. The truck is riding on chrome Panther wheels and Toyo Proxes tires, 17 in front and 18 in rear. The truck has a clear Ohio title.

This truck originally came from the midwest, and as far as I know, nearly everything is original. It has been in my family for about 20 years, and my dad had it running about 10 years ago, but it has been sitting ever since. Body is in good condition, and for the most part it looks like it only has surface rust. Lots of chrome, and would be a great project for someone. Have a clean title in hand.Update: by request, I have taken more photos, and have taken a closer look at the rust. It looks like nothing is rusted through around the wheel wells, but there is one small spot on the floorboard (near the gas pedal) that has rusted through. While the truck has not been moved in several years, my guess is that it will still roll. It is next to a gravel driveway, and it should be fairly easy to back a flatbed trailer up to it.
