This is a 1958 Oldsmobile super 88 four-door sedan. This car has been restored professionally by us, it is not a show car or a points winner. But it is by far one of the nicest drivers you will ever see The paint job on this car is like a mirror finish, you can see yourself very clearly in the paint job. Unlike some 1958 Oldsmobile you will see here on eBay, this car is completely original. It does not have a 350 Chevrolet engine and transmission, it has the original 371 cu in. Oldsmobile four barrel engine. This car is a truly rust free vehicle out of Texas. The floor pans on this car are 99% perfect. All we found was a little 4 inch spot that needed repaired on this entire car. This car has never been wrecked and has never been in a Salt environment. The car still carries a Texas title along with the original Texas safety inspection from the early 90s. Which was the last time this car was on the road. The fuel system was completely removed and all new fuel lines replaced from the gas tank to the engine. The carburetor has been rebuilt, we did add new electronic ignition to enhance the performance. The interior has been completely redone to match the car, it is a brilliant cranberry red metallic with an off-white enhancing trim. The stainless on this car is some of the nicest we have seen on any of our restored cars. Not perfect, but very near it. The bumpers are in very nice driver quality shape, not re-chromed but very very nice.We have changed the tire size from 14 inch to 15 inch rims and added 70s model wire wheel covers. We have found this enhances the drivability and ride of these cars. The tires are brand-new. This is a very very rare factory AC car, the AC is all there, it is complete. But has not been charged. This year model used the old R 12 refrigerant, And we have not had any of that refrigerant in many many years. We would suggest it be converted to the new system.We did not change anything because we did not want to change any of its originality. The lights all work in this car, even the back up lights. The frame and undercarriage of this car is absolutely beautiful in its original state. We have not sprayed undercoating or painted to hide anything, but will do so if the purchaser would like that to be done. Southgate auto is proud to present this 1958 Oldsmobile dynamic 88 convertible project car. This car was started by us for a customer that has since fallen on hard times. He is unable to complete the build and we are offering the car as an incomplete build. The drivetrain on this car has all been all gone through, motor and transmission are in excellent shape. The front clip had been removed and everything cleaned primed and repainted including the firewall and frame. The customer had decided on a color change, and was going to repaint it a Mediterranean blue, this is the reason for the blue painted area under the hood. The brakes have all been gone through, and the front end is in excellent shape. This car was purchased by us out of Massachusetts. The car was last driven in 1963 as evidenced by the original tags and sticker on the windshield. We replaced the engine with another one out of a 58,000 mile car that we owned. We highly believe the 47,000 miles on the odometer is correct. The original engine dropped a valve and was removed by us. The car does have some rust issues as evidenced in the pictures. The floorpans are an easy fix, the supports and braces are in excellent shape. This is a complete car, the windshield that was in it was destroyed, and removed by us, but it comes with a brand-new windshield and rubber for it. It is a special windshield just for convertible. There is a new convertible top that comes with the car, and we have checked all the electronics and they work as they should. Headlights, markers and turn signals as well as brake lights work. We have an excellent donor car that would supply all Sheetmetal, and all parts that is necessary for this car for an additional $2500. We here at Southgate auto Center have been rebuilding 58 oldsmobiles for the last five years, and have built cars for Warner Bros. out of California as well as all over the world. We are well aware that this car could bring in excess of $75,000 after a complete restoration. This is your chance to get a car that is going up in value and is extremely rare.
