This car was a special edition produced for Cadillac by the American Sunroof Corporation from May to July of 1978. 2000 were created to commemorate the last of the big Eldorados. In 1979 they were downsized from 4906 lbs by 1000 pounds and shortened over a foot. All of the Custom Biarritz Classics were painted the same arizona Beige and Demitasse Brown with two tone leather interior leather wrapped steering wheel rim gold plated Biarritz script on the exterior sail panels and the trunk lid. Of the 2000 created only 500 had the Astro Roof. This is one of those 500 cars. This special edition was the subject of an article in the January 2010 issue of Hemmings Classic Car magazine. This car is a survivor and has been in storage since 1996 and has only been driven 2000 miles during that time. It has been maintained not restored. It has 41374 miles. I am the 4th owner. The 2nd owner took it on trade in Arizona from the original owner when he was a Cadillac salesman there. He only drove it 1000 miles from 1996 to 2009. It was transported and stored in Provo in his garage after moving there from Arizona. My father purchased it in 2009 and had the necessary repairs done to it to make it roadworthy again. He was 91 at the time and did not drive any more. He never drove it. I did the clean up and detailing to bring it to its present condition. The car has had some body work done to repair some scrapes and dings. All of the fender extensions and bumper fillers were replaced and the rubber insert on the rear bumper was replaced. Most of the paint and all of the chrome and stainless trim are original. The vinyl top and Light Beige Dark Saddle leather interior are completely original right down to the carpet and floor mats. It has the original trunk carpeting and trunk floor mat. The car has five 15 inch star wire wheels that were optional on Eldorados in the mid 1980s. They were made by Weld Wheels and later by Cragar. They are no longer manufactured but are in great demand by the custom crowd and very expensive when you can find them for sale. It has new Kumho white wall tires new battery new under hood insulation installed new chrome lug nuts and new Air Conditioning Compressor and hoses converted to R134A Freon in September. The rear wheel bearings have been repacked. It passed utah County emissions in 2009. It has not been tested since then because it is not required in Sanpete County.
