1988 International 1754 Dump Truck,Flatbed Dump, 1988 International, S-Series, Model 1754; factory wheelbase 218" (present wheelbase 200"); factory records show 7,500 lb front axle, and a 25,000 lb GVWR (present records show 26,000 lb GVWR). Empty weight is about 12,000 lb, so factory rated load capacity is about 14,000 lb, but if the law does not apply the actual load capacity is about 20,000 lb. The truck has hydraulic actuated 15" disc brakes on front and rear axles; a DT360 diesel engine rated at 165 hp/400 ft-lb, which is a short stroke version of the famous DT466 inline six cylinder engine; a reliable mechanical fuel pump (no electronics); 50 gal step tank; 14" clutch; 5-speed manual transmission; electric 2-speed rear axle (4.89 ratio). The truck is old and it has high mileage, but smart truck buyers should only care about condition. This depends on its use history and maintenance. It originally had a 20 ft van body, and an old maintenance sticker suggests it was driven about 50K miles per year in that service. It was removed from delivery service in about 1994 with about 280K miles on it. This suggests at lot of easy highway mileage. Robertson Truck Sales, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, moved the rear axle forward to install an Obeco 16 ft flat bed dump body with 60" grain sides in 1994. It was later bought by a contractor near Sunbury, Ohio, who used it for drywall cleanup at job sites. I bought the truck in 1999 with 284K miles on it, and removed the grain sides. I installed the present Obeco 14" high steel contractor sides in the flat bed stake pockets. The truck now has 295K miles on it. My 11K use was hauling 20 ft long steel beams, rebar, and pipe; and 7 cy loads of soil, stone, and sand. The long, low bed is great for this use, especially when loading with a Bobcat or with hand labor. The seller told me that he recently replaced the transmission. I have replaced the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel; both rear hubs, bearings, rotors, and brake pads; a rear spring shackle; both front king pins; and the exhaust system. I also replaced the old 10.00x20 tube type tires with new 11-22.5 tubeless tires with new rims on the existing cast spoke wheels; and recently replaced both batteries. This is a lot of new stuff in the last 11K miles, so this should be a good work truck for someone who cannot afford to pay almost ten times as much for a new truck. My asking price is about one half what I have spent on this truck. I am selling it because I have never had enough work for it to justify its cost...not because I am getting something "better". $9900, 513-563-2966
