PLEASE NOTE: This car sold recently for $125,000 but due to unfortunate circumstances the buyer had to back out. We are re-listing this $150K car at the previously negotiated price to save time & get it into the hands of someone who can truly appreciate the quality workmanship & value at a great price.   Click here to watch full-sized video or if there are problems with the video above   This unparalleled example of a 1970 Chevelle SS started it's life as a L-78 396ci 375HP SS... a rare car. The original owner sold & lost track of it for nearly 30 years but did some research and was able to track it down in storage.  Then the labour of love began... it was stripped down to the frame for a full restoration. Mark Mahood (an award winning auto finisher who painted cars for Boyd Coddington) was given the job of finishing/painting all the body panels as well as powder coating the frame, rad support, fender wells and the rear end. Global West tubular arms were added with Dell aluminum bushings, 3" dropped spindles, lowered the springs in all 4 corners with QA-1 Adjustable Shocks and a Currie 9" rear end using factory mounts. Unfortunately the original 396 engine had been blown but the owner wanted this car to be something special so he went with a custom built 555ci engine pushing 826HP & 750 ft/lbs of torque by George Koopal (a NASCAR engine builder). All the best parts went into this engine: Dart Big M Block, Callies Dragon Slayer Pro Magnum 4340 billet crank, Manley 4340 billet rods, JE 11.4 pistons, AFR 335 CNC aluminum heads, Crane roller cam, Crower roller lifters, Crane wide body aluminum rockers, Moroso Full Kick-out aluminum oil pan, billet Moroso oil pump, Edelbrock Super Victor manifold and a custom 1150 CFM Holley Dominator carb.  To transfer all that power to the wheels, Mike Stewart was brought in to build an Ultimate Turbo 400 reverse valve body, full manual "automatic" transmission with transmission brake & line lock. There's also a 9" brazed steel torque converter by Mike Munsinger with 4000 RPM stall on the trans brake. The driveshaft is chromoly with 1350 U-joints. Finally, the rear end has 4:10 gears and a 35 spline Currie axle and Detroit locker.  To stop this beast, Wilwood disc brakes where added all around with a custom built dual diaphragm master cylinder. An electric vacuum pump from Cadillac was added to produce the amount of vacuum required to engage the binders. Intro built the wheels which are 17"X9" in back & 17"X8" in front wrapped in Nitto tires.  The car was assembled & all new wiring added by Bill Burton of Burton Classics to ensure proper fit & finish of all parts. Custom headers were built by Tom Dawson, formerly of Hooker Headers. The Magna fuel pump/filter & billet regulator feed the engine thru NASCAR super light fuel lines with crimped nickel fittings. The huge Holly Dominator carb required a custom built air cleaner using a special 16" K&N racing filter. There is a MSD Digital 6+ ignition box that can be manually adjusted if needed. The Autometer Ultimate tach has a memory which shows the highest RPM during the last pass. The Vintage Auto stereo looks like the original but actually controls a 12 disc CD changer in the trunk along with modern speakers. Outside, all glass & seals were replaced while inside the seats & upholstery were updated but kept looking as original as possible with Dynamat carpets/mats & custom formed foam in the seats utilizing stock upholstery.  The result is an immaculate original looking '70 Chevelle that drives like a modern Camaro with the power of a ZR1 and less than 500 miles on it since being built.  This car was displayed at SEMA recently & stole the show! Here's your chance to own a true Pro Touring classic that works perfectly, is 100% ready to drive and that will turn heads everywhere it goes. Everything on this car works perfectly and will provide many years of enjoyment as well as being a great investment.  (original factory build sheet is available)   THE GARAGE SHIPS VEHICLES & PARTS ALL ACROSS NORTH AMERICA.
