I purchased this car a few months back on Ebay to be used as a daily driver for my business in and around Washington, DC. Well, short story is the seller left out some details which do not make this a car I want to stick with. The good – Runs well, changed the alternator (Kept pulley from the an old one and changed belt, no more breaking belt), New tires, under 300 miles on them. Top is new, installed improperly though by seller. Lights flip up properly. I will include the shop manual and cup holder purchased along with updating wire harness to use with newer radios. The bad – Since top wasn’t put on correctly, top leaks in pouring rain. Estimate I got, if it can be corrected was $350-$400, or, $700 to install new. A/C not working, have not looked into issue. Seats have gotten wet. Small dent in front end, passenger side at bumper. Airbag light flashes 5 times, can’t find what the code is, but the vehicle has passed Maryland inspection & emissions in August 2015. I bought another sending unit, not installed. I’m in to the car for $2900 and with the extras I need, it isn’t worth it for me to go any further. I can part it out and make more, just not worth the effort. My loss is your gain. In it's prior life it was equipped with twin turbos. IT is the touring edition with navigation and heated leather seats. It was a 6spd MT. The chassis has 98K on it. Assembly will require a motor and your imagination. The transmission has been removed but (can be) / is included with the car. Wheels are and the tires were purchased this year with a little over 3,XXX miles on the tread. Front and rear breaks intact. The body is in really good condition. 2007 and 2008 were the only years Shelby offered the automatic (6-speed) trans as an option, and they didn't make many of them. This registered, true Shelby (NOT a clone - Shelby #08SGT1394)) is clean, runs great, and everything works. It has only 29800 miles on it - which means it's been driven regularly on nice days - but less than 4000 miles a year. That's much better for a car than constantly sitting - fluids don't settle, tires don't dry-rot, etc.***************** This Shelby hasn't been modified in any way, and still has plenty of life left on its factory-original tires and brakes. It's pretty close to traveling back in time and buying one of these brand-new.**************** I've truly enjoyed driving this car. I haven't abused or raced it, but flooring the gas pedal pulling out into traffic results in a healthy engine roar, and it often chirps the tires shifting into second gear. You gotta love that. I wanted an automatic so it would be comfortable to drive, even in traffic, and I'm glad I searched (for 2 months!) to find one, because it has encouraged me to drive the car more often than I would have, plus I haven't had to worry about the clutch exploding (read about that in the forums, if you wish).******************* A few things I should point out: 1. The Carfax shows this car having a minor accident in 2009. I didn't own it at that time, but it was apparently repaired perfectly, because there is no evidence of any damage, ever. The exterior is basically flawless, as is the interior.********* 2. This car was ordered with cloth (pony) interior and non-stainless dash - both features I prefer. You may not, but the seats don't get hot and sticky, and the sun glare doesn't blind me off the dash.********* 3. If you want a car that's uncomfortable, unbalanced, too loud and unreliable, spend the extra money and buy a GT500. It has really big snakes on it, so if you're compensating for something, I'm sure you'll be happy when you drive it 200 miles a year in perfect weather. BUT, if you're looking to re-capture the true spirit of Carroll Shelby's vision, and own a snake that is quick, handles, has a nice throaty stock exhaust that's not overpowering, and still has the Shelby mystique going for it, buy a Shelby GT. And if you REALLY want to actually drive it on a regular basis, hunt down an automatic.
