1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS, Engine: 327, Manual transmission, 975 miles, Exterior: Blue, The 1967 Camaro Convertible I resurrected for the Camaro Restoration Handbook is now available for sale. As illustrated and documented throughout the book, this Camaro has undergone a complete rotisserie restoration. Lovingly restored with mostly GM parts, my Camaro was restored with the intention to never sell it. But times change and I must reluctantly let her go. I finished the majority of the restoration 20 years ago and only drove the car on sunny days and kept her in a heated garage during the winter. I recently completed the finishing touches on her, along with some repairs as well, replacing the rear main seal, oil pan gasket, rebuilding the transmission and replacing the flywheel and clutch assembly. As shown in the Camaro Restoration Handbook I co-authored, I used two cars to build this one, one car provided the body and sub frame and another provided the drive train. This car was originally a non-Rally Sport car, but I really wanted the cleaner look that, to me, the Rally Sport package provides, so I converted her to RS specifications using GM parts (other than the headlight motors.) The majority of the parts used to restore this car are new General Motors parts, including all the body panels other than the tail panel and tulip panel, which are original to the car. Many other GM parts that were used on the car were purchased in the 1980s and were new, such as the gas tank, tank mounting straps, and front grille to name but a few. New Old Stock (NOS) parts include the simulated magnesium wheel covers, rear mount antenna, and more. All the wiring harnesses are new, high-quality reproductions as are the seat covers and numerous other parts. All the rest of the parts were original GM parts that I reconditioned. The non numbers-matching car is equipped as follows: 327 cu. In. 275 HP totally rebuilt. The only non-stock item in the engine is a Crane Economaster cam. The left-hand exhaust manifold is original, the right-hand exhaust manifold is a GM service replacement part. It looks blue head-on, but from the side has a violet cast. As you can see from the pictures, the underside is very clean, the body is super straight and the lacquer paint is smooth and shiny. The paint has five small defects from the buffing process. There is a small leak at the pinion shaft seal. Everything on the car works. The car starts, runs, and drives like it just rolled off the assembly line. As you can tell from the mileage, Ive been very selective as to when I drive the car. The vast majority of the 1st generation Camaro photos shown in the Camaro Restoration Handbook are of my car, this car, being restored.
