Up for sale is a nice original example of the most sought after first generation rx7. I purchased this final year, 1985, GSL-SE with the intention to fix it up and sell it on to a new owner. The car sat for at least 10 years, It's technically a 2 owner car, but the original owner died several years ago and her brother licensed the car and drove it for a few years until he decided to park it, I purchased it from him. The car has all the original paperwork except for the window sticker. According to the records, the car was bought new in Idaho but immediately went to California and spent most of it's life there before coming back to Idaho. The clean title is still in the previous owner's name, but It's been signed off and I have a bill of sale. My wife and I are moving soon and I didn't have time to get it transferred to my name, (I live in Washington and out of state title transfers take several months) the car has expired Idaho tags. I've known about this car for a long time, but I never realized it was a GSL-SE, or I would have rescued it sooner! The car obviously had some issues from sitting and will still need some minor things. The paint is oxidized on the roof and passenger rear quarter and rear bumper. The car also had a partial respray in the past. The paint buffed out and the whole car shines, If you want it perfect it would need a paint job, but I like the patina look. There is absolutely no rust in the car and the body is in excellent shape, with hardly any dings. The interior is nice and original, There is a stain in the passenger seat and a small split in the bolster on the drivers seat that could probably be repaired easily. The dash has NO cracks. The original stereo system with equalizer is still in the car and sounds awesome. The car has A/C but its not blowing cold, probably needs recharged. The vents don't work only the defrost vents. This could be a fuse or something minor, that I'll look into. The high beams only work when you pull the stick back but not when you push it forward, in other words you can flash them but they don't stay on. This could also be a minor issue that I'll look into. The car does need a new crank mechanism for the top, its stripped and doesn't work without some help. The rear struts on the hatch need replaced, and one of the wires for the rear defrost is broken. The antenna doesn't work, neither does the gas door release, and the car needs new door seals. It also has an exhaust leak just before the cat. Everything else works inducing the cruise, power windows, and even the lighter. I replaced the fuel pump and filter and had the tank refurbished. The injectors were professionally cleaned, flow, and load tested and fitted with new screens and seals. Other new parts include intake gasket, clutch master and slave, after market aluminum 3 row radiator, cap, rotor, NGK plugs and wires, air filter and oil change. I also soaked the combustion chambers with ATF to revitalize the seals before I ever drove the car, and I've only put non-ethanol premium in it and added 2 stroke oil. The car runs awesome, pulls strong and shifts smooth. The handling is amazing although the old shocks do feel a little tired. These were said to be the best drivers cars of the 80's, since this is the GSL-SE it has the bigger 13B engine and disc brakes on all 4 wheels and LSD rear end. The car also has a removable top and was the top spec rx7. The car doesn't need much to be a very nice example, or drive it the way it is! I'd keep it if I could.
