This vehicle is a survivor Jem! For Sale is a second owner 1968 Mercury Cougar with approximately 58,000 miles. This car was purchased from an Estate Sale in 2004 having about 53,200 miles on it, at that time. It has always been garage kept. It is all original except for: the high back bucket seat backs that I installed because I'm a tall fellow (The original low seat backs are in great shape and go with the sale), complete dual exhaust system, CD Player (The original AM Radio goes with the car), New beige carpet & and sound proof underlay, both the headliner & Vinyl roof have been replaced, All door/trunk/window rubber has been replaced, both rear leaf springs have been replaced with new ones plus, all underneath bushings/rubbers have been replaced. This CAT has a beautiful set of Magnum 500 style steel Rims (Size: 14" X 7") along with chrome trim rings and wheel centres. She is one cool Kitty ,with the installation of an original OME AC system! History: This 1968 Cougar was purchased by the original owners, who were from New Jersey, in June of 1968. That same summer the couple drove this Cat to Atlantic Canada, fell in Love with a tiny community off the Nova Scotia Coast and purchased an old Homestead, which became there Summer Home for many years. I think that this CAT is homesick for the USA!!! Due to there age and love of the Summer Home they decided to bequeath both the Car and old Homestead to the Nova Scotia Community who in turn, decided to sell the Cat..."For Sale by Tender" for funds toward the upkeep of the Historical Homestead. Needless to say, I became the second owner of this solid, beautiful vehicle. Being Mercury's answer to upscale the Mustang Pony Car, the first Cougar of this fantastic design was born in 1967 but, then the birth of the 1968 model really set the stage for this car to be a luxury model that will prowl the streets for many more years. The Cougar has had a new paint job (2011) being a base coat clear coat antique Burgundy Metallic. The new Vinyl roof plus other new accessories really sets this car ahead of the pack! There is plenty of paper work to satisfy the discerning Buyer and you'll not be disappointed with your purchase. The Buyer is fully responsible for any and all additional fees such as registration, taxes, import/export fees, transportation costs and other associated fees. Recent appraisal of over $28,000.00, the value of your investment can only increase. This antique vehicle does not have a warranty and given the tremendous love and care that is continues to have, she will provide you with many more years of just purring around or really prowling the streets of your town! *Please note that the cost of the New Paint alone, was well over half the asking price of this beautiful Classic Automobile! As a point of interest, the original owners lived on Whig lane Road, Woodstown, NJ and, the Cougar was purchased from LM Carter Motors in Woodbury, NJ. Please note that the steel 500 series rims on the vehicle are black with grey as shown within the last four photos. The photo with the Horses in the background shows the Car approx 6 years before the re-paint. There never was, nor is there now any "rust through" underneath. There was very minor pin holes over the rear wheel wells, that is typical of the Mustang and other 46 years old vehicles. No known oil leaks! No engine problems, nor transmission issues. In fact, the shop foreman who did the transmission fluid/filter change stated that, "it is in perfect condition...like new". Since I purchased this vehicle, friends of mine often advised me of similar "Vintage" 68 Cougars that pre-maturely died but, had some excellent parts. Over the years I have accumulated numerous extra parts that are now also available. So if this "CAT" is purchased and transported to its new "Den" by trailer, the extra parts could easily be taken/purchased as a very fair bonus! They are just to numerous to list but range from a drivers side front fender and door, both bumper cores, complete clear auto glass, etc, etc. This "Classic" auto does have (what was called back then) Power Assist Steering. I can't tell the difference from what Power Steering feels like today! Plus it also has a"New" power front disc brake system and rear drum brakes. All the brake lines and associated parts are new. Keep those questions coming as there may be something that I forgot to list. Just in case anyone else has a similar question(s), Yes! Both those "Cool rear sequential taillights and the front hide-a-way headlights were working great"! When I put this "Classic" into storage, everything was functioning correctly. Given that she is always "fired up" several times over the proceeding months in storage, this is one cool Cat that really purrs like a kitten and, I'm certain that she has several lives left! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY: MAKE A INFORMED DECISION, DETERMINE/NEGOTIATE THE CARRIER COST YOURSELF. GET A FEW QUOTES THEN, YOU CAN DECIDE WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS GEORGEOUS CLASSIC DURING TRANSPORTING IT TO IT'S NEW ABODE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUYERS STATEMENT OF FACTS: BEFORE I DECIDED TO BID ON THIS CLASSIC AUTO, I HAVE THOROUGHLY DONE MY RESEARCH AND, I KNOW THAT THE SHIPPING FEE TO MOVE MY CLASSIC 1968 MERCURYT COUGAR FROM CENTREVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA, B0P1J0 to _______________________ WILL BE $___________. THEREFORE, THE MAX PRICE THAT I CAN AFFORD, TO BUY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC 68 COUGAR IS:_______________________.
