In mid-model year 1976, after the announcement from the US DOT that even greater safety requirements were going to be imposed on convertibles for the coming model year, Cadillac announced that the last remaining American convertible, the Eldorado Convertible, was to be no more. Sales skyrocketed and 14000 convertibles were built (compare to 1966 - 2250 convertible Eldos were built). Company spokespeople reported that they had run out of convertible top frames, and if they'd had more, they'd have sold more. In honor of our country's 200th birthday, the last 200 cars were designated the "Bicentennial Edition", and painted white with red and blue pinstripes, and matching white interiors. Collectors showed up at dealerships with their flatbeds as to put no miles on their big slivers of automobile history as they headed to climate controlled storage. The "Last Convertible" went out in a blaze of glory. Skip forward 8 years, and in 1983, Cadillac introduced a new convertible. Go figure. But things were different, way different. Gone was the 500 cubic inch big block V-8 (whose last model year was also 1976), and that dainty little '83 model car (little by Cadillac standards anyway) could practically fit in the cabin of that just-shy-of-19-foot beast. Owners of the "Last Convertible" were furious, filing a class-action suite against the auto maker... and lost. So, while the '76 wasn't the "Last Convertible" Cadillac ever built, or any other US automaker for that matter, it was certainly the end of an era, and there will never be another one like it. 1976 was the last year of the 500 cu.in. engine, the first year of 4 wheel disk brakes, and this little fully-loaded gem here, according to the Cadillac/La Salle Club internet forum, is one of only 1000 made with the most expensive option available for the car - Fuel Injection. This car was originally purchased in Nevada, and I do have the original bill of sale. The last owner had it nicely painted in the original Amberlite Firemist 5 or 6 years ago. At the same time, it received a new canvas top and Vogue Tyres. All of that is still in excellent condition. Check out the close-up photo of the trunk and you can see the depth of the metallic. While the last owner concentrated on the aesthetics, I finished up the mechanical. It has a new brake master cylinder, a/c compressor, FJ12 injectors & TPS, all the vacuum lines related to fuel injection are repaired or replaced. It has a new right CV axle, and left lower ball joint. The underside of this car is clean and appears to be rust-free. The car is beautifully aligned, the engine is super strong with no obvious oil leaks or oil use, and the tranny shifts as smooth as glass. Everything functions in the car - door locks, seat adjustments, tilt/telescopic wheel, electric windows, convertible top, wipers (including delay), climate control, even the "digital" clock keeps perfect time. The cruise control may be a little shaky, but if that's your only problem... In the interior, the upper door panels were re-upholstered, and there are none of the common cracks you typically see in these lower door panels. You will find virtually no-mileage cars out there in the $35,000 range. 76's in this condition with this mileage commonly auction in the low $20,000's. Here is your chance - she is AWESOME!!! Don't hesitate to ask questions before bidding. Check out my rating - I am a very honest eBay Seller. Happy bidding!

This car is awesome condition. The paint is is great condition, very shiny with chrome trim, a black cloth top, gold buttoning with one small chip in the lower front bumper and a pin head sized ding in the hood (not sure how that happened). The wheels are factory chrome sport wheels and newer tires. The interior is also in awesome shape with only minor wear and tear, you have to look to find anything wrong with the interior. This car has all the toys, power everything with driver and passenger heated seats and rear passenger temperature control. I am the third owner of the vehicle and I bought it on impulse from a dealer, the car has great eye appeal.Delivery would have to be negotiable. The car is located in the Denver (Colorado) Metro area.
