This car was originally built to fill a void in the American market. We, the consumer, wanted a car to compete with the German offerings. Something that no one west of the Atlantic had seen before. This is what GM came up with... An inspiring configuration including parts from GM's ample parts bin, but with many elements engineered specifically for this $26k V option.This is one of the the most underrated cars on the road today. From the aluminum double wishbone suspension, almost clown like 4 piston Brembo brakes, to an aluminum hood, this car was an engineer's wet dream. A magnificent blend of power, 400hp and 395lb·ft of torque mated to the legendary T56 Tremec, make for an interesting experience to say the least.GM over-engineered a hydraulic engine cradle system for the car in order to subdue any bad vibrations into the cabin. Though fantastic new, they fail prematurely and cause other problems down the road. When the engine mounts go, the transmission mounts go. When the transmission mounts and shifter bushings go, the center carrier bearing for the non-serviceable 2pc drive shaft goes. When that fails, you're left with a differential carrier bushing that is almost non-existent. A well sorted kit is sold to replace all of the failed components to factory specification. This service call has just been done... $1,600 in labor and $1,250 in parts. Go ahead and ask me how I know...I have service records from the day it was bought new for $53k, and the fact that they show very few repairs is testimony to the reliability for which these great cars are known. These records are mostly small stuff like Mobil 1 engine oil changes, transmission and differential oil changes, and up to a replaced alternator. The service call on the engine mounts, bushings, etc was, by far, the most expensive service call.....and it will not need to be repeated.Notable interior features include extremely supportive and well bolstered seats with triple stitching similar to an old cowboy's six shooter holster, an outstanding Bose sound system with an added auxiliary connection, dual climate control, nav....the best of everything GM had was put here. The only factory option was the sunroof when the car was made, and this has it.The car is ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE. I am not saying that it is clean for a 2004, I am saying it is clean for a 2014. There are 0 (zero) dents, dings, pings, scratches... Nothing. No swirl marks from improper washes... There is one rock chip on the hood half the size of a pencil's eraser. The rear bumper cover does have a minor tear, that would easily be the most significant damage to the car and 99.9% of the people writing an ad wouldn't mention it.A truly magnificent road car, the Caddy glides over the road without a whisper of wind noise, and very little, if any, road noise.
