If you want to get noticed, be the center of attention at parades, and pretty much look like you have the world at you beck and call, nothing delivers the message better than a vintage Cadillac ragtop like this 1970 DeVille. Looking at the price, you can be forgiven for thinking this is some worn-out beater, but you'd be incorrect in your assumption. The bright red paint isn't totally correct or perfect, but it does look great and if you're looking to make a grand entrance in Vegas, this is your ride. The finish is bright enough to make your eyes water, but bright red isn't a bad choice on a vintage Cadillac convertible, because they were, at heart, flamboyant cars. Finish quality is good, with signs of age and use and a little orange peel here and there, but nobody will notice any of that as you cruise by, a one-car parade. Cadillacs are known for fins and chrome, and this one has both, from the pontoon-shaped front bumpers that are in great shape to the pointed taillights out back that leave no question as to what kind of car this is. Is it perfect? No. But it has just the right patina to suggest a casual lifestyle that embraces the good things without sweating the details. White is a fantastic choice with the bright red paint work, and thanks to new seat covers, it looks extremely fresh. Matching red carpets with correct heel pad, freshened door panels that retain the original woodgrained inserts, and the dark red dash pad all look quite good. Of course, almost everything was standard in your 1970 Cadillac convertible, from power windows and locks to A/C to a six-way front bench seat. The 1970 Cadillacs also had a very cool wrap-around instrument panel that pretty much gave the driver exclusive use of all the controls, and it's all easy to reach. There's a newer radio in the dash and a white power convertible top makes it look right and includes a crystal clear rear window that eliminates the worry of hazy plastic curtains. The cavernous trunk is pretty clean thanks to new black carpets that are neatly installed. Cadillac's 472 cubic inch V8 make locomotive-like torque, easily propelling the big DeVille with authority. They're also indestructible low-RPM engines that never feel like they're working very hard, and thanks to good maintenance throughout its life, this one runs quite well indeed. With a 4-barrel carburetor on top, it gets off the line easily, but where it's really at home is interstate cruising, where there's no better way to travel. The engine bay is well-kept if not detailed, and service access is surprisingly good compared to the Eldorado convertible that would follow. A TH400 3-speed automatic spins a heavy-duty rear end that looks like it belongs under a giant truck rather than a luxury car, and the suspension is in good order so that incomparable '70s Cadillac ride is part of the package. Stock wheels with hubcaps give it the right look and carry 235/75/15 whitewall radials. Big and flashy, this Cadillac delivers an A-list celebrity experience at a bargain-basement price. With lots of new work, an attractive color combination, and that luxurious ride, this is a huge bang for the buck driver. Well, it's got all the right ingredients: great colors, excellent preservation, just 17,446 original miles, the top-of-the-line powerplant, and every available option. And oh, yeah, one other thing: it's very affordable today. You probably can't get a nicer luxury car for less money than this. The Eldorado Touring Coupe was rather awkwardly branded the "ETC" but that does nothing to diminish its handsome look. The long hood, short deck theme is still in evidence, but the sleek roofline with the almost fastback rear window gives it an updated look that was perfect for the late '90s. Basic black is the quintessential Cadillac color, and on the Touring Coupe, almost everything was covered in it: grille, bumpers, mirrors, door handles, everything. You do get a chrome band around the center of the car and a white pinstripe to break it up, but this is one sinister yet elegant Cadillac. Of course, with so few miles, it's in excellent condition, with a deep gloss that proves that you got your money's worth with a $50,000 Cadillac. The chin hasn't been beaten up by parking lot curbs and driveway aprons and panel gaps are excellent throughout. We never realized just how good Cadillacs were back in the 1990s. Black leather lines the interior of the Touring Coupe, and it's arguably one of GM's very best designs. A sweeping instrument panel with Zebrano wood inserts makes it feel airy despite the acres of black hides, and there's a center console that helps to warm the place up a bit. Every single option was included on this car, including power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a trip computer neatly integrated into the instrument panel display. The leather seats are in almost new condition, the carpets are unmarked thanks to heavy-duty mats, and the wood trim has a brilliant gloss that matches the bodywork. Everything works, of course, and it's so quiet in here that you can hear the minute differences in the AM/FM/CD stereo system compared to your other cars. The back seat is big enough for real-sized adults and the trunk is Cadillac huge with a cargo net and built-in CD changer. Cadillac's "Northstar" 4.6 liter V8 engine was a big deal in the 1990s, representing the brand's first attempt at a truly world-class powerplant. With 300 horsepower on tap and an equal amount of torque, it moves the luxurious coupe like a muscle car, not a luxury barge. They've also proven to be bulletproof reliable, and this one has a lot of life left in it, with just over 17,000 original miles on it. The engine bay is neatly dressed and it's all original, of course. It starts with a muscular bark from the dual exhaust pipes and thanks to a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, pulls down surprisingly good fuel economy out on the road. The all-independent suspension was tuned a little sportier than the standard Eldorado but it's still smooth and luxurious, and standard 4-wheel disc brakes instill confidence. Optional chrome alloy wheels look brilliant against the black paint and are fitted with brand new 235/60/16 Vogue gold line tires, and you know how expensive those are. You'd be surprised how much fun this Eldorado is to drive, and the luxury features stack up well with today's cars. If you want a high-quality V8 luxury car at an economy car price, good luck finding one nicer than this. One of 200 built by Coach Works of Chatsworth, CA on behalf of Cadillac management, this particular Mirage was restored by the head of the Mirage Registry and is quite likely the finest one known to exist anywhere. This is a show car in almost every way, and once you see it up close, you'll be extremely impressed by not only the quality of the restoration, but the original build as well. This is not a home-made conversion, and it's not something put together on the fly at a custom shop; no, the brass at Cadillac made this happen and as a result, the finish quality is OEM throughout and the seamless blend of Cadillac Coupe DeVille styling and pickup truck utility is just beautifully done. It wears a fresh coat of deep Mercedes-Benz silver metallic paint, which looks about a hundred times better than anything they were spraying in the 1970s. It is appropriate on this big truck, er, car, giving it a luxurious look without being too flashy about it. But don't worry, if it's attention you crave, this sucker still delivers in a very big way. The integration of the pickup bed and coupe bodywork is neatly done and mostly camouflaged by a matching silver padded roof that retains the coupe's quarter windows. The bed is beautifully finished with more gorgeous paint work and stainless rub stripes, making it just too pretty to actually use it as a pickup ever again. Cadillac's luxurious interior is 100% intact here, with acres of bright red leather that's in awesome condition. It's all been restored and there are several modifications that not only add a custom look, but enhance the luxury experience. The dash is wrapped in matching red leather, eliminating the crack-prone original vinyl and there's now a full array of Dakota Digital gauges in the original speedometer panel. The factory tilt column is fitted with a billet steering wheel, but that's about it as far as mods. The rest is all Cadillac luxury and includes things like power windows, locks, and seats, automatic climate control (ice cold!), and the original AM/FM/8-track stereo radio. Even the irreplaceable original red rubber floor mats are in excellent shape! Cadillac's monstrous 500 cubic inch V8 is prime for upgrades, and this big V8 makes about one horsepower per cubic inch thanks to a fresh rebuild and lots of enhancements. It looks super clean sitting under those finned valve covers, and the most obvious upgrades are the intake manifold, carburetor, Davis ignition system, headers, and the upgraded A/C compressor. Inside there's a big camshaft that definitely makes itself known (no smooth Cadillac idle here!) and it moves all 5500 or so pounds of Mirage with the kind of authority usually reserved for muscle cars. The TH400 3-speed automatic transmission was suitably built to handle the big numbers coming out of the engine, but it's still running a set of 2.73 gears out back, so it will eat miles and miles of pavement without working very hard. The chassis is extremely clean and shows no major modifications beyond the dual exhaust system and the self-leveling rear suspension is very useful on a pickup. Recent chrome wire wheels are stylish on a Cadillac like this and are wrapped in 235/75/15 whitewall radials. With only 576 miles since the restoration, this is quite likely the finest of its kind anywhere. This very rare Mirage is cool in every way that matters. Although it's pretty far removed from stock, you can still see why this 1927 LaSalle sedan is timeless and if you want a big, impressive, never-seen-before rod, they don't come much bigger or more impressive than this. It looks like the bodywork is still the way Harley Earl intended, and it's kind of refreshing to see that the original design was honored instead of "improved" during the build. The late-20s offered some big, impressive machinery, and the LaSalle was second only to Cadillac in terms of prestige and it shows. The vivid Garnet Red paint glows on the upright bodywork while contrasting black fenders are a traditional touch that gives the car the right look. Fit and finish are quite impressive, particularly considering how many nooks and crannies there are on a car like this, and all four doors close with a reassuringly solid sound. The chrome details that make these cars special, including the radiator shell, big headlights, cowl lights, and elegant door handles have all been fully refinished and it carries accessories like dual sidemounts, a grille guard, and big driving lights up front, all period-correct and adding to the big car's stately appearance. A padded roof gives it a bit of formality and it's in excellent condition. The builders got a lot of things right, and a big one was keeping the original seat. You've seen modern buckets stuffed into old cars and they never look right, but the wide bench seats covered in gray velour upholstery look exactly right. Door panels were created to emulate the originals, with simple patterns and handy map pockets plus lovely wood trim. Most of the dashboard has been covered in more wood, and the A/C system has been expertly integrated into the design so that it's hard to know where the original ends and the custom stuff begins. A banjo-style wheel, elegant VDO instruments, and a lever-style emergency brake keep it looking suitably vintage. All the modern conveniences are here, including a tilt column, power steering, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system. Out back, there's a big trunk that's a correct period accessory that adds practicality and back seat accommodations are commodious. For power, this LaSalle uses a reliable Chevrolet LT1 350 cubic inch V8, which fits easily under that long hood. Keeping it fairly stock means that it's reliable and smooth, and with a few clever modifications it sits just right. A big radiator up front keeps it cool effortlessly and all the accessories were tucked in tight to the block using custom bracketry. Sanderson block-hugger headers add clearance and feed a smooth-sounding dual exhaust system that is appropriately quiet. Fat Man Fabrications supplied the front suspension, which uses tubular A-arms and rack-and-pinion steering to upgrade the road manners, while a 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission drives the 10-bolt rear end. The original chassis was boxed to add strength, a custom stainless steel gas tank hangs out back, and there's a disc brake at all four corners. 72-spoke Wheel Vintiques wire wheels lend just the right look and carry 265/70/16 wide whitewall radials that are big enough to look right on the massive sedan. Unusual and beautifully built, this LaSalle won't be duplicated. It's not inexpensive, but the quality and the unusual build make it worth every penny. Big luxury cars are usually treated like something special by their owners, but this car has received the kind of care usually reserved for cars with an extra zero on their price tag. Cadillac sent the Eldo off in fine fashion in 1978, as in 1979 there would be an all-new smaller personal luxury coupe, and the Biarritz Classic (AKA "Collector's Edition") was the top-of-the-line. Mediterranean Blue Firemist paint manages to be both flashy and elegant at the same time and seems to emphasize the Eldorado's truly massive proportions. At nearly 20 feet long and 5000 pounds, this was full-sized American luxury on a scale unseen for the past 35 years. Hailing from a warm, dry climate, this car still sports its original paint over laser-straight factory sheetmetal, and even the plastic fender extensions are in outstanding shape, although they've aged a bit and don't quite match the bodywork anymore. The Biarritz was highlighted by custom trim along the beltline and highlighting the dip just behind the doors. A padded opera roof that remains unmarked and supple was another part of the Biarritz package, as are the relatively subtle "Biarritz" badges. The chrome is in excellent condition, as are the lenses, which have delicate Cadillac emblems etched into their surfaces Full-scale luxury was the order of the day inside, and with room for six, the big Eldorado is more like a living room on wheels. Pillow-tufted leather seats, including a split bench with power actuators for both driver and passenger, tie it together with the exterior, and the "Sierra Grain" leather upholstery adds a layer of comfort and luxury that you have to experience to believe. Instruments, gauges, knobs, and handles all leave no question that this is a well-cared-for original car, with crisp markings on the gauges and beautifully sharp knobs featuring Cadillac wreaths on their faces. Creature comforts abound, from automatic climate control to power windows and locks to cruise control and an AM/FM stereo radio with factory CB (how cool is that?). And feel free to bring everything you can carry on road trips, since the trunk is massive and still carries its original spare tire and jack assembly. Amusingly, the 425 cubic inch V8 under the hood is the "smaller" engine used in the first-generation FWD Eldorados, but its true calling card is effortless torque. With nearly 5000 pounds to move around, it is a silent, obedient servant that starts easily and purrs along with nary a whisper. The engine bay is just about what you'd expect from a car that's always been loved, showing expert maintenance from day one. Cadillac Blue paint is a bright complement to the satin black engine bay, and all the belts, hoses, and other accessories are just as Cadillac made them in 1978. The transmission is a TH425 3-speed automatic, which is basically a TH400 sitting next to the engine and connected to the engine by a massive chain and driving a differential set just ahead of the oil pan. Four-wheel discs, a quiet single exhaust with catalytic converter, and shockingly clean floors round out the chassis. Special Eldorado-only 15-inch wheels wear color-matched hubcaps and 235/75/15 whitewall radials. These big cars are gaining popularity, and if you're looking for an affordable investment-grade Eldo, pick this one up while it's still a bargain. Fortunately, the tradition continues with awesome hand-built cars like this 2004 Cadillac DeVille built by Coach Builders Limited who are renowned for their ability to craft hand-built works of art that rival anything the OEMs could build. The great thing about this DeVille is that there's absolutely no sacrifice in having a convertible. It's still a big, comfortable, full-sized American luxury sedan, albeit with the ability to go alfresco when the mood strikes. Coach Builder's Limited preserves the DeVille's original profile with a beautifully fitted power convertible top that's an engineering marvel. The rest of the body, however, is completely stock and looks fantastic in the Pearl White factory finish. With just over 36,000 original miles, this one has never been a daily driver and still feels tight, which is quite remarkable for a 4-door without a roof. There's no evidence that this is anything but a factory build, as every corner, edge, and panel is finished to the highest standards and hidden by carefully made bright trim. The most notable feature is the hoop that remains where the B-pillar used to live, which is surely the reason this convertible feels so tight and seals up so well, and it actually gives the big convertible a sporty look when the top's stowed. Inside, it's still a traditional luxury sedan with room for six. Sumptuous tan leather seats are the same ones Cadillac fitted in 2004 and showing virtually zero wear since then. Legroom is expansive, and despite not being built as a convertible, the steeply raked windshield provides great wind protection, even for back seat passengers. All of Cadillac's power options remain, including power windows and locks, cruise control, automatic climate control, and all the airbags remain in place, and the climate control system is powerful. Digital instruments live inside a handsome woodgrained dash and the big steering wheel is wrapped in leather and has stereo controls at your fingertips. The workmanship in the back seat area where the top mechanism lives is impressive, and the tan convertible top stows itself with just the touch of a button. Top up, it's fully insulated so this DeVille whispers along much like its hardtop siblings and casts a dashing profile, complete with heated glass rear window. Even the trunk remains fully functional and big enough to swallow a month's worth of luggage. Power and performance are impressive, thanks to Cadillac's 4.6 liter Northstar V8. This powerful yet silky V8 simply ignores the added weight of the heavily reinforced bodywork, and has the most thrilling soundtrack this side of a new Camaro. The 4-speed automatic transmission is a great touring partner, and the suspension remains supple and well-damped. Since the convertible conversion touches nothing under the hood, it should remain reliable for thousands of care-free miles and can be serviced at any Cadillac dealership. And since it hails from a warm climate (obviously), you know rust isn't a problem. Power disc brakes at all four corners inspire confidence, although this isn't a sports car but a grand tourer in the finest tradition of convertible sedans of the past. Flashy chrome alloys are the right choice, and wear 225/60/16 Vogue whitewalls that still have a lot of life left in them. Powerful, smooth, and still quite elegant, this convertible sedan is the latest in a long line of great American motorcars. Why? Originality rocks. You can restore originality into a car, so more and more hobbyists are discovering the joys of a clean, original machine. Don't understand what we're talking about? Come drive this fantastically authentic Cadillac and it'll all be clear. First off, this is a really BIG car, and after 1976, there would never again be a Coupe DeVille this massive. But that doesn't mean it's clumsy, and thanks to tidy proportions it looks great even today. The original Galloway Green Firemist paint is in good condition for it's age. There's a soft shine that only vintage paint can capture, and nobody will second-guess you when you tell them that it's all original, although the rubber filler panels have been touched up, a common situation with these cars. The body fits together quite well (this is a Cadillac after all), and while the doors are truly massive, they fit well and don't sag. And yes, Cadillacs have always been about chrome, and there's a lot of it here, including massive bumpers, bright rocker panel moldings, and trim around the windows. Another cool feature are those pods on the front fenders, which house fiber-optic lenses indicating the status of the headlights, parking lights, and hi-beams. There's also a padded half-roof, because, honestly, can you really have a '70s luxury car without it? Inside, this Coupe DeVille uses very attractive green cloth upholstery, and again it's in remarkably good condition. The fabric shows no splits or tears and only very light signs of use, quite remarkable for production-grade materials that are approaching 40 years old. Power accessories were expected at this level, and include a power front bench, power windows and locks, cruise control, and automatic climate control (the first year A/C was standard on a Cadillac, by the way). It shows just over 52,000 miles, which are authentic, and it almost looks like the back seat has never been used. The original AM/FM radio still works, as does the power antenna, which pokes itself up six inches when you turn on the radio, with a manual override just to the left of the radio dials. The massive trunk is fully upholstered with the factory-issued mat, a full-sized spare under the cover, along with a full jack assembly. Cadillac's claim to fame in the '70s was the world's largest production V8, a 500 cubic inch monster that provided effortless torque to move these big land yachts with ease. They're also remarkably durable and reliable machines, with a Rochester 4-barrel carburetor up top and an HEI ignition system. Although it's a little dingy, this one wears its original Cadillac Blue paint, factory air cleaner, and all the original accessories are fully functional. It's backed by a durable TH400 3-speed automatic spinning 2.73 gears out back, so highway cruising is smooth and silent. The underside is shockingly clean with only some minor surface scale on the heavy iron parts. It even appears that the exhaust system is original, including the catalytic converter, suggesting a car that has always been well-maintained. Newer 235/75/15 whitewall radials have been fitted, so it still rides like a hovercraft. Big luxury cruisers like this are finding traction in the market, and a fantastic original car like this big Cadillac is sure to attract attention anywhere it goes. Not since the 1930s were creations like this 1978 Cadillac Seville Opera Coupe so widely available, and even today this car makes people stop and stare. First off, this Opera Coupe might very well capture the "longest hood" award. Exaggerated proportions were all about re-creating the feel of those ultra-luxurious machines of the past, and they often included massive hoods to cover equally massive powerplants. Faux sidemounts were added, complete with matching wire wheels to complete the illusion, and the way they were able to retain such a strong Seville identity through the conversion is a tribute to the original design. You can't see where the factory sheetmetal ends and the custom stuff begins, and with the square-jawed front end, it's instantly recognizable as a first-gen Seville. Paint quality is quite good, as you'd expect, since this car was custom built and outrageously expensive when it was new. The greenhouse was reshaped to offer a tidy 2-person coupe profile, but things like the door handles, trunk lid, taillights, and even the windshield are OEM pieces. Yeah, the engineering here is really impressive. The interior was custom-stitched to the owner's preferences, combining the stock Seville front seats with the finest leathers and fabrics available. The factory door panels were reworked to accommodate the shortened doors, and then the whole thing was lined with sound-deadening materials to make it as quiet as a church inside. The factory dash made the transition intact and everything is in remarkably good shape thanks to careful maintenance throughout this car's life. All the Cadillac features are still there, including automatic climate control, power windows and locks, a tilt wheel, and cruise control. A newer AM/FM/CD stereo has been fitted in place of what was surely an original 8-track setup, and there's a remote locking system that'll open the trunk as well as unlock the doors. And speaking of the trunk, it's still spacious and well-appointed just like the original, including a spare tire and jack assembly. Under the skin, it's amazing to see the clever engineering that went into these Opera Coupes. The exaggerated front clip is all ahead of the radiator, with the factory firewall and hood remaining in place just ahead of the windshield. The front suspension was relocated, but all the critical factory-engineered components that make a car safe, reliable, and comfortable were left where the GM engineers intended. A 350 cubic inch Olds V8 supplies power, just as it did in the Seville, and it's a quiet, torquey, unobtrusive travelling partner that works quite well in this application. Early GM fuel injection helps improve both power and efficiency, and parts availability is still quite good so this car is easy to service just about anywhere. It's backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic and 2.73 gears out back, so it just whispers along at highway speeds and cruises along pockmarked city streets without disturbing passengers. New equipment includes the exhaust system (with two mufflers!) as well as a set of 15-inch Vogue whitewalls on genuine chrome wire wheels. If you really want to make a statement when you arrive, this incredible Seville Opera Coupe will do it. The design has actually aged pretty well and today finding a low-mile example like this is not so easy, making them an affordable way to own something that's both rare and collectable. There's no doubt that the 37,059 miles shown on the odometer of this particular Seville are authentic and the condition bears this out. All signs point to original dark blue paint on the bodywork and while it's showing signs of age like some crazing and checking, it would probably be a mistake to repaint it given the huge popularity of untouched, original cars like this. Darker colors like this work particularly well on the Seville's dramatic shape, giving it an elegant look that certainly suits its upscale mission. This one is also remarkable in the fact that it doesn't have an ersatz padded roof, so often added to cars of this era even when they were totally inappropriate. As a result, it looks sleek and clean. There are a few dings here and there that come with use among the general population, but again, chasing perfection with this car will erase everything that makes it special. It also shows great chrome, crisp emblems, and rubber and plastic parts that seem to be defying time and the sun. Someone took care of this Cadillac. Matching dark blue leather works beautifully on a car that lets the sheetmetal styling speak for itself. So many of these had such gaudy colors that it was hard to take them seriously, but for a collector, a timeless combination like this is what you want. The seats are in excellent shape with appropriate signs of use and age but no damage or evidence of neglect. The same goes for the carpets and door panels and the rear seats look almost completely unused. There's a lot of fake wood inside this Cadillac, but it actually looks great against the dark blue upholstery, adding some light and it's pretty convincing so it never seems cheesy. The industry's fascination with digital instrumentation hit its peak in 1983, but all the gauges here are fully functional and light up brightly when you turn the key. And everything was standard, including automatic climate control, power windows, locks, and seats, a tilt column, cruise control, and a decent-sounding AM/FM/cassette stereo. And even with that bustle-back trunk, storage space is still massive and fully upholstered in more blue carpet. Cadillac's sturdy 4.1 liter V8 was the only powerplant available, and while it won't win any drag races, it's proven to be reliable over the years and is as smooth as anything else you'll ever drive. The engine bay is quite original and in excellent shape with plenty of evidence of proper maintenance over the years. It starts easily with a muted V8 burble from the single exhaust pipe and the 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission turning the front wheels makes for effortless highway drives. It also offers a fully independent suspension and 4-wheel disc brakes, which was pretty sophisticated for 1983 General Motors and only adds to its collectability today. Wire wheel covers are part of the package and are wrapped in 205/75/15 whitewall radials. Look at it again and you'll see that these were pretty cool cars for the era and they really are pleasant to drive. For the money, it's an awesome collectable that won't be seen everywhere you go. This 1974 Eldorado ragtop offers enough space to have its own zip code, a massive 500 cubic inch V8, and front-wheel drive, all combined into one distinctive luxury yacht that still has no equals even 40 years later. You want tradition? The white-on-red combination on this Eldorado dates back to the first Eldorado in 1953 and looks fantastic on this '74's bodywork. It was repainted once about 20 years ago and still looks pretty tidy, although it's in what we call "usable" condition. Use it for parades, use it for car shows, use it for long cruises through the desert, whatever, this Eldo is a drop-top party waiting to happen. The bodywork is quite straight, which isn't easy when there's so much of it, and the crisply folded shape has actually aged gracefully compared to a lot of the stuff coming out of domestic automakers' factories in the early '70s. Even the important fender caps, which were made of a kind of early urethane that was prone to cracking and drying out, remain in very good condition on this car. A single set of red pinstripes highlight the shape of the hood and trunk and there's a tasteful single color-matched rib strip on the side, making this a somewhat restrained example of full-sized American luxury and the big chrome bumpers, grille, and other bright details are in excellent condition. The red leather interior is original to the car and while it shows appropriate signs of age, it is not split, torn, or worn beyond use. In fact, I'd argue that it looks even more appealing with a few comfort marks, as if you could slide behind the wheel and head for Vegas on a whim. The instrument panel looks about a mile wide and the passenger sits waaaay over there, but the primary controls are arrayed around the driver right where they're easy to reach. The car is loaded with features like automatic climate control (needs to be recharged), power seat, windows, and locks, a tilt column, cruise control, and a power antenna for the AM/FM/8-track stereo system, which is befitting a top-of-the-line convertible like this. Original carpets are showing their age a bit but the car still carries its absolutely irreplaceable factory floor mats and they're in great shape. There's a white power top that stows under a hard fiberglass boot that's an ultra-rare accessory all by itself, and the trunk is outfitted with a full-sized spare with cover. Until quite recently, Cadillac's 500 cubic inch V8 was the biggest production engine in history. With big torque that makes the Eldo feel effortless, the engine does its job superbly. It's still wearing Cadillac Blue paint on the block and valve covers and the big silencer is still on the air cleaner. It starts easily and these engines have proven to be practically bulletproof over the years, making the Eldorado easy to maintain. The TH425 3-speed automatic is a TH400 that drives the front wheels, so you know you won't break it and with 2.73 gears in the final drive, it's a highway cruiser of the highest order. A single exhaust is Cadillac quiet and with air shocks out back, no worries about a prom queen or two sitting on the rear deck for parades. Big 235/75/15 whitewall radials look right and work with the original wheels and hubcaps. Full-sized fun with a top that goes down, and now that these cars are seeing some financial gains, maybe not a bad investment, either.
