The Allante deservingly so was not only GM's flagship, but the flagship for the entire American car industry. The Allante takes a heck of a beating while at the same time pampering driver and passenger, a true sign of luxury and performance. The Allante has a number of items that I was and still is ranked best in the industry, foreign and domestic. The Recaro seats, covered with high end leather, are without peer. Firm, supportive and featuring a multitude of adjustments, the seats will not cause one bit of soreness or fatigue on a long trip. The cruise control system is the smoothest and easiest to operate I have encountered. Winding through the mountains of upstate Tennessee did nothing to undermine the cruise control. It maintained a constant speed regardless of the gradient of the road. There are parts of the Allante, such as the outside door handles, that catch your attention because they are so well designed. This is just one example of the car's high quality. The fit and finish of the Allante - from the neatly contoured material around the windshield frame to the door trim, rubber weather stripping, carpet and lining in the trunk- were the best I've ever seen on a car. The Allante's trim components looked to be made of durable, heavy-duty material. The Allante's antilog instrument system was and still is among the best I've ever seen. The Allante features a fuel-injected aluminum 4.5-liter V-8 that pumps out 200 horsepower. I find the performance to be perfectly matched to the character of the car. This torquey engine is coupled to a computer controlled four-speed automatic. The drivetrain has ample passing power and more than enough strength to blast the 3,466-pound two-seater away from traffic lights with authority. Cadillac says the Allante will go from 0-60 in less than 8.3 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 130 mph. You might think a car capable of such performance might have a very large appetite for unleaded premium. It can, Depending on how you drive. On the highway, with the air conditioning on, the Allante got nearly 24 miles per gallon. If you drive with a heavy foot, that figure could plunge to about 15 miles per gallon. Regardless of the Allante's fuel economy, the car is exhilarating to drive. The Allante handles like a sports car, but rides like a luxury car. The speed-sensitive steering and computer-controlled suspension system provided the Allante with exquisite road manners. Wherever I drove the Allante, people stopped what they were doing to look at the car. This is an original 1991 Cadillac Allante and it is available at a real value. I am using the Buy it Now or Offer type of auction which is the fairest way to do Ebay. I am a dealer in Tennessee and this has been my personal driver. I have acquired another car to drive and this nice Allante is listed to sell!! I can be reached at 901 277-3678 to discuss. This 74K MIle Allante is fully equipped and everything operates as designed. It is a dream to drive. The car starts easily, runs smoothly and drives great with lots of power. The following have been done to the car in the last 1000 miles: -New Tires -New Battery -New Brakes -New Shocks -Bose Radio removed and rebuilt -New Heater control module -Starter replaced -Tune-up and fluids changed. Top is in good shape(see pic) and it works well. The Hard Top is also nice(see pic) and pulls down as designed when placed on the car. The electric pull downs work front and back. The trunk pull down also works. The climate control system works as new and the A/C is very cold and the power windows and locks also work along with the Cruise Control. The Pearl paint is nice with only minimal chips due to normal use. There are no dings in the body. The contrasting dark red interior is overall nice with a little wear on the driver bolster(see pic), and no cracks in the dash. All the digital dash components work and all lights work including the twilight sentinal. A factory Service manual is included(see pic of trunk), which is a $100 value. The tires have less than 1000 miles on them and the wheels are in nice shape with only one showing a blemish(see pic). This is a nice car and well worth the money especially with the optional Hard Top included. 1988 Cadillac Allante Up for sale today is a 1988 Cadillac Allante convertible. This is a nice car but needs some TLC. It has a problem with the anti-theft system arming and shutting down the fuel pump, injectors, and alternator. However, this car has a freshly re-built transmission with a 12 month/12 thousand mile warranty, New battery, new Alternator, New rear brakes. It will start and run on an intermittent basis. I have consulted with Cadillac of Knoxville and they have determined that the VATS Anti-Theft system needs repair or bypassed. They recommended that I take the car to American Radio Corporation in Knoxville to have this repaired. I took the car over there today and they are going to replace or repair the VATS Anti-Theft next week. This Allante does need some interior work, and the power windows/door locks are not working. It will also need tires in the near future. There is some visible dry rotting on the front tires. I bought this car with the intention of doing a full restoration, but I do not have the time or money to put in it at this time. I have lost interest in the car. So, my loss is your gain. If you know anything about the GM VATS Anti-Theft system you will know that it was not one of GM's best decisions. In fact it was such a sorry system that they produced a bypass cable for their cars.
