1967 BUICK RIVIERA #'s matching 430ci 4bbl with Star Wars Air Cleaner. Rare Bucket Seats with Console Shift & Side Marker Lamps! Very good running & driving car! Solid car that was once repainted in the late '80's. I purchased this car in Maine in August of 2013 with every intention of having it repainted & reupholstered. But certain circumstances have not allowed me to do so. To my disappointment, I've realized that I will not be able to get to it anytime in the near future. So instead of letting it sit. I've decided to let someone else have the pleasure of owning it. The Good: The 430 engine runs strong! It Does Not smoke or leak (other than minor valve cover seepage). The Trans shifts smoothly. It has newer mufflers. Floor Boards & Frame are rock solid. Trunk floor is solid. But does have some surface rust(see photo). The body is very solid with only minor areas of rust popping up. Even the paint (for it's age still looks) good. The Chrome Bumpers & Stainless moldings are all in very good condition. (left fender molding is in the trunk) All 4 power windows work. even the power antenna still works. Original Buick road wheels are in good condition. 4 center caps for the road wheels will be included (not pictured on the car). The Bad: I moved last year & lost my storage. So I had to let it sit outside last winter. That took it's toll on the original vinyl top(which was showing it's age before so). The left fender had been repaired sometime after the repaint & doesn't match perfectly. There is also an area where the filler chipped (see photos). There are areas of rust popping up around the body (see photos). The passenger 1/4 panel must have had a dent repaired prior to the repaint. You can see a crack line in the filler. The previous owner decided to cut the dash & rear shelf to install an updated sound system at some point. *But I did purchase a new cluster & lens asst.* It will be included in the sale if the new owner wants it. Along with some other items I purchased for it over the past 2 years. The power seat motor works. But the seat does not move. The previous owner installed a luggage rack on the deck lid. My plan was to remove it when having the car painted. All in all this is a great, rare car. You can purchase it to drive as is. Or you can restore it. My plan when I purchased it was to paint it black, reupholster the front seats & replace the current top with black vinyl top. But financial issues are forcing me to sell off my classic cars. New Firestone FR-710 tires, shocks, alternator, water pump, belts, exhaust system, headliner; all replaced since 2013. Power driver's seat, windows and locks; cassette/stereo, fiber optic lamp monitors, power trunk release inside glove box. Interior is odor-free. A/C blows cold.Freshly re-painted original color April 2015. Cruise control does not work. Passenger side hubcaps scratched/dented/cracked from curb rash, but still usable. Small dent on front passenger side fender and door. Rear bumper has swirl marks. There is also a deep scratch in the bumper, and very light pitting, but it still has a clean shine when polished. The front bumper has no swirls; still has light pitting, but still feels smooth when polished. Passenger side cornering lamp housing has some rust showing through. There is a check engine light that comes on if you drive over 45 mph. The code it sets is for the vehicle speed sensor, which is buried behind the speedometer. The code doesn't have any impact on safety or driveability, it is one of many inputs that the computer uses to meter fuel usage. IT HADN'T BEEN REGISTERED SINCE 1982. BUT TO THE OWNERS CREDIT. HE DID START IT AND YARD DRIVE IT PERIODICALLY. HE WAS THE 2ND OWNER OF THE CAR & CLAIMED THE MILAGE WAS CORRECT. BUT SHOWED NO PROOF OF IT. THE PAINT WAS VERY DULL. BUT IT ONLY HAD SOME MINOR RUST IN THE LOWER REAR 1/4'S. WHICH I HAD PROPERLY REPAIRED PRIOR TO PAINT. THE LT CODE 401ci NAILHEAD RUNS STRONG! MILD CAM, ALUMINUM VALVE COVERS & DUAL QUADS (WITH RECHROMED AIR CLEANER) WERE INSTALLED IN 2012. NO LEAKS. NO ISSUES. 4 NEW WHEEL CYLINDERS, ALL 4 DRUMS TURNED & NEW FRONT BRAKE HOSES IN 2014. REPAINTED IN 2013. PPG BASE COAT CLEAR COAT WAS USED. IT CAME OUT VERY NICE! IT IS STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW & HAS A MIRROR LIKE FINISH. BOTH BUMPERS WERE RECHROMED AT THAT TIME. IN 2014 I INSTALLED A NEW HEADLINER, SAIL PANELS, REAR SHELF PANEL & FRONT SEATS WERE REUPHOLSETERD. I PLANNED TO KEEP THIS CAR FOR A WHILE. SO I DECIDED TO MAKE MYSELF A MILD CUSTOM GRAN SPORT THE WAY I WANTED IT. SINCE I'M NOT A BIG FAN OF WOODGRAIN. I CHOSE TO CHANGE THE INTERIOR WOODGRAIN TO CARBON FIBER. THE CAR STARTS UP EASILY, RUNS GREAT & DRIVES STRAIGHT! THE REAR MUFFLER WAS REMOVED & IS RUNNING ON THE TWO SMALLER RESONATOR MUFFLERS. I DID THIS TO GIVE IT A DEEPER THROATY TONE. I THINK IT SOUNDS GREAT! ITEMS THAT WILL NEED ATTENTION. THE HEADLAMP MOTOR HAS BEEN PULLED & NEEDS TO BE REBUILT (OR CONVERTED TO NEWER STYLE MOTORS TO OPEN THE HEADLAMP DOORS). THE CLAMSHELLS OPEN & CLOSE MANUALLY VERY EASILY. THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT CANCEL. SO YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY CANCEL IT. THE POWER DRIVER SEAT STOPPED WORKING EARLIER THIS YEAR. ALL 4 POWER WINDOW MOTORS WORK. BUT THE RIGHT REAR NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED. SEEMS TO HAVE GONE OFF TRACK. BUT IS SITTING IN THE CLOSED POSITION WITH NO ISSUE. THE A/C COMPRESSOR & CONDENSER WERE REMOVED. BUT WILL BE INCLUED IN THE SALE. I KEPT THE COMPRESSOR OFF BECAUSE IT BLOCKED THE VALVE COVERS. I LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS BETTER WITHOUT IT. 1967 Buick Riviera converted to operate as an experimental electric vehicle Project started in 1980 and licensed to operate on Illinois roads approximately 1982 The vehicle consists of the following:1967 Buick Riviera basic vehicle chassis and standard interior. Custom designed electric drive motor, having approximately 75 peak horsepower, using one series wound 6 pole motor and one shunt wound 6 pole motor, inline tandem coupled with both motors in electrical series for 36 to 72 volt operation. Modified trunk area to accept up to fourteen 6 volt lead acid storage batteries. Batteries are not included. Trunk lid to be open when charging to reduce hydrogen gas build up. Cable Form brand pulse-width solid state controller to control the motor speed efficiently. Fast acting, cable operated cut-out switch to disconnect battery power source to motor controller if controller fails Manual transmission with four forward speeds and one reverse speed to change motor load conditions Instrument panel having five meters, plus indicators and selector switches. The original Buick instrument panel is complete but not used for the electric conversion. Power assisted brakes, using original vacuum booster system with vacuum supplied by an independent 12 volt pump. Interior lighting, head lights, wipers, brake lights, etc., powered by two independent lead acid batteries. Also, some pilot control is fed by 12 volts. Documentation and schematics for Cable Form controller. Original Buick 1967 manufacturer's service manual. Miscellaneous engineering documentation to help new owner. Original Buick spare parts; radiator, power steering, radio, misc. small parts too numerous to list. Note: Car is no longer running. Several years ago, I bought this vehicle from the daughter and son-in-law of the original owner. It was sitting in a barn on 4 flat tires, covered in pigeon crap and a layer of dust. At the time, I didn't even hear it run because the battery was dead. With the help of a buddy, we got it on a trailer and towed it home. Once home, I rinsed off years of dirt, to discover it needed a paint job. It has "patina" (lol) I put fresh gas in it. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, points, etc. I changed the oil, coolant/radiator hoses, and transmission fluid. Finally, I charged the battery, and inflated the tires. With much anticipation, I turned the key, and it started right up. It was loud as hell, and there was an exhaust manifold leak. Since this was beyond my skill set, I took it to a shop, where they replaced the left exhaust manifold, exhaust manifold gasket, head gasket and intake gasket. In addition, they adjusted the (4) wheel drum brakes. After driving it, as-is for several years, last fall I had a new dual exhaust system installed. This spring I put a new battery in it, and it fired right up after sitting all winter. The GOOD: Trim and Bumpers are in nice shape. The Factory GM Rims look nice. Factory AM/FM Radio works.Trunk looks solid. The glass is good. The interior looks nice, however there is a split in the drivers seat cushion. Power seats and front windows work. Original AM/FM Radio works. Cool speedometer still works. Tilt steering wheel. The BAD: Needs body work and paint job, has dent in left rear fender, and small crease in front right fender. A/C not working, never used it. Retractable headlights not working, the electric motor is unplugged. Power antenna not working. Rear 1/4 windows not working. Not sure if this is a "matching numbers" engine. It is a Buick 430 CI Wildcat, just not sure if it is original! To reiterate..it has a faint odor of "mice urine" which becomes more noticeable, when the windows are closed and the car has been in a hot garage. That's why the carpets should be removed and properly cleaned, or replaced. If Buy it now is used, or a reasonable offer is tendered, I'll include all the Factory GM manuals I have, as well as sales brochure, and laminated wiring diagram, and Riviera Owners Association Magazines. This is a nice car, it is almost 50 years old, but it is still nicer then some of the basket cases or parts cars that still want my asking price!
