The 200 miles was driven oin 5 separate days to make sure there is no issue of any kind and no check engine light before delivery. Proper break in requires that the next 800 miles to be driven under 5000 rpm. Rest assure all part from BMW are warranted for 12 months. So why did it need an engine rebuilt? Well, these V10 have a fairly common issues with rod bearings and one of them was scorched and cause some smoking , when we diagnose it, we found that there is an internal issue and #8 cylinder piston was also scratched. We took the entire engine and transmission apart to make sure we see what is going on and we saw rod bearing #8 was scuffed and we decide to complete rebuilt the engine. What was done? Of course all engine seals replaced, all rings replaced, all rod bearings replaced, heads polished and block honed , damaged piston replaced, all crank bearing replaced. while we have it all apart, we also completely service the air conditioning, transmission , all fluids ( oil, brake, transmission, coolant ). We also service the clutch and inspected it, clutch wear was less than 50% and also all brakes checked and they are better than 50% also. Tires are near new and chasis was in perfect shape. Top works perfectly and everything else works like new. With this rebuilt , it is basically a new car internally and the paint and all cosmetics are like new also ( or we would not have spend close to $16000 in retail price on this car !!!) We on the other hand is proud to do that as we make sure every car we sell in like new!
