1991 BMW M5 - The last of the hand-built supercars from Bavaria!! If you don't know what an M5 is, you probably are wondering why a 25 year old car would carry such value. In that case, I will not be disappointed if you click away and continue looking for your next Camry or Accord or something else equally boring. If you know what this is, read on... So, this is the 4th BMW M5 that I have owned, and the 5th one is in my driveway now. Based on this, you may get the impression that I'm a bit stuck on these cars... and you would be right!I really don't know any other car that has the same blend of awesome performance, mechanical soul (each one has been truly unique), real-world practicality, and stealthy image that doesn't scream its presence to law enforcement. I have owned this one for a few years, and it's been quite a pleasure to own, occasionally autocross, frequently roadtrip, and basically daily drive. The modifications list is short, as it came with a chip and Koni adjustable shocks on performance springs. I have replaced the rear Konis a while back, and they still seem fresh. I would think the fronts could use replacement before too long. Frequent oil changes use Mobil 1 full synthetic with Mahle oil filters. I installed a K&N cloth air filter, but then went back to the Mahle paper filter after the MAF failed, perhaps due to the red oil in the filter. Since the MAF for this car is apparently made of faery hair and plutonium strands, I didn't want to risk fouling another one. Luckily, I found that the part number is cross-referenced with two other cars, which increased the availability... a bit. The two other cars are the '78 Porsche 928 and the '80s Audi Quattro, each of which is just as rare as the e34 M5. Dangit. Anyhoo, you will get a strong-runner with fresh plugs, new distributor cap and rotor, new fan clutch, new Bridgestone RE-11 super sticky tires, strut tower brace, and probably a few other things that I have forgotten for now. I also have a box or two of spare parts that I will gladly throw into the trunk for you to sift through.
