Never thought this day would come especially right now that the values on e34 M5's are on the rise, they are the last of the hand build M cars. Where do I start, bought the car Januari 31 2003 after a long search for a clean example that didn't have any rust issues like so many here in the midwest.Prior to closing the deal I ran a carfax that showed an accident in 1995 by the first owner who owned the car till 1998 and drove the car for 64401 miles. The hood is a replacement part as it is the only body panel on the car that is missing the VIN tag all other VIN tags are present on the body panels. The second owner owned the car from 1998 till 2001 and drove the car to 87619 miles. The third owner owned it from 2001 till I bought it from him in 2003 with 97100 miles on it, it currently has 117629 miles. The car was never a daily driver and used on weekends and club events, never been abused in any way, I am a auto technician by trade and most of my co workers had classic American muscle cars they tinkered with which wasn't my thing I opted for this muscle car. During my ownership I replaced the dashboard that was deformed around the defroster vents at this time I replaced all the foam that seals the dash vents to the heater box, replaced the delaminated door panels with the newer style with leather armrest, just recently I had the dried out and cracked leather on the seats replaced with silver Alcantara and Recaro cloth, while the seats were removed I fixed all the power seat cables and all work as intended also most plastic trim pieces when available were replaced.While the back seat was out and the rear strut mounts were accessible the rear self leveling struts were removed and rebuild as one suffered from some seepage, the car sits on brand new Michelin Super Sports wrapped around refinished M system wheels that have Diamand Schwarz Throwing Star covers on them that matches the lower trim, the original Turbine Covers are included. In 2004 I had the car repainted at BMW of Peoria to fix a grazing issue of the paint, the car was completely stripped, all dings were removed and a factory original windshield was installed after the car received a new coat of paint and trailered back to my home where the car was put back together with all new trim pieces and emblems, european bumper trim was installed to eliminate the marker lights and headlight washers were added, a full set of brand new US bumper trim and marker lights are included.All chrome moldings were painted black like the Shadow Line trim not offered in the US until the 1993 model year and the M style aerodynamic mirrors were installed the factory original mirrors are included. 2007 at 110177 miles I removed the engine from the car as it suffered from some oil leaks, all engine bearings, timing chain components, and oil pump were replaced with factory original parts and upgraded were possible, the Pistons were replaced with forged CP Pistons with 11:1 compression ratio,euro 3.8 liter cam gears, titanium valve spring retainers and new M sport valve springs along with a Fahey crank hub were installed all coolant hoses and hydraulic hoses for the power steering and self leveling suspension were replaced as were all front suspension parts.The use of 11:1 pistons requires the use of 93 octane with an octane booster, I have been filling up with aviation fuel or used 104 octane racing gas, the car currently has a cat delete X pipe but the factory cat is included.At this time I installed the Brembo GT big brake kit with one piece rotors and rebuild the rear calipers and installed braided stainless steel lines the original front brake calipers and Zimmerman cross drilled rotors are included. During this time it was also discovered that the transmission is a factory replacement unit that was installed in 1999 under warranty between 64000 and 87000 miles as the mileage is entered incorrectly on the Warranty Vehicle Inquiry, the transmission was reinstalled with a new Sachs clutch assembly and resurfaced fly wheel, the guibo is also new and the shifter is an upgraded UUC unit. The car currently has Hella smoke tail lights and Hella cross hair Smiley headlights with smoke turn indicators a full set of original amber turn indicator lights and trunk mounted tail lights as well as a full set of Depo white turn indicator lights are included as are a set of clear Smiley headlight lenses. The interior sports a Euro airbag steering wheel, BMW CD 21 AM/FM CD radio it still has the trunk mounted CD changer and the "original" AM/FM/Cassette radio is included as is a rare center console mounted Cassette box, just a few things not mentioned and I am sure I forgot some more the accelerator cable and linkage bushings and cruise control cable have been replaced as were the radiator and fuel pump during my ownership. Included in the sale are also an original car cover, assortment of valve adjustment shims with depressor tool, and a crankshaft holding tool required to properly torque the hub bolt, vacuum gauge set to synchronize the throttle bodies a 3 ring binder documenting the mileage and all repairs with text and photo's during my ownership. The cost of the mentioned engine rebuild, bodywork and interior refurbish combined exceed the asking price but the car sits too much and should be enjoyed, I am not desperate to sell and would like to see the car go to an enthusiast and I am pretty firm on my price but there may be some wiggle room for the right person.
