It is difficult for me to let this car go, as I have fallen in love with the E36 platform over my past 3 years of ownership. After purchasing this car in July 2012, I drove it down to Miami, where it was kept until I moved back to Connecticut this past August. The car was able to make three separate 1,350 miles trips between CT and Miami with absolutely no problems whatsoever. During one of the trips, I even drove straight down without stopping (besides for food, gas, etc.) for 20+ hours, and the car did not overheat or experience any issues. The cooling system is fantastic! This M3 had an intermittent starting problem when I first purchased it. After about a year, it would not start at all. I replaced the starter, but the issue soon returned. I suspect it has something to do with the aftermarket alarm system, which I could never figure out how to use. The problem was solved by installing a “push start” button that wires power directly to the starter motor, and now it starts every time with no problem. The car WILL NOT start unless the key is in the ignition, so this DOES NOT make the car any more susceptible to theft. The oil was changed approximately every 5k miles with Castrol synthetic oil. I have all of the service records and receipts from my period of ownership. I am the 5th owner, which is not bad for an 18 year old vehicle. I have done a lot of fixing up, but the car could still use some TLC. I have eBay links to various affordable parts that I could provide to the buyer in case he would like to fix up all of the remaining issues (such as replacing the dented passenger fender, missing glovebox trim, etc.). There is currently no check engine light, and everything is functioning properly. This is by no means a show car, but it is still a quick and powerful M3 for someone who isn’t too picky! Modifications: - “Push to start” button - Stage 2 clutch - UUC Evo 3 short shifter - UUC oval delrin shifter bushings - Dinan carbon fiber intake - Borla exhaust - OEM X-Brace - Intrax lowering springs (rears installed; will also include fronts) - DDM Tuning lowering springs (fronts installed; will also include rears) - Meyle HD RSM (Rear Shock Mounts) - Cross drilled & slotted rotors - Hawk HP Plus performance brake pads - Convertible front seats with ///M stripe (best looking and most comfortable E36 seats in my opinion) - Rear seats with ///M stripe - Luxury door panels (appear to have originally been Mulberry, dyed black) - ///M3 floor mats - Clutch stop - 6000k HID projector headlights - 6000k HID fog lights - Angel eyes - Clear corner signals - Clear side markers - Smoked taillights (will also include red / clear taillights)- Black kidney grills- Black OEM staggered 17” M-Contour wheels - Anti-theft lug bolts - Alpine CDE-126BT head unit w/ iPod connection, MP3, and CD player - Power Acoustik speakers - Two 12” Alpine Type-R subwoofers - Custom sub enclosure - 1200W Xplod subwoofer amp - 600W Xplod speaker amp - Custom amp mount in spare wheel well - Clifford alarm - Remote start: DEI XCRS 500M Extreme Capacity Relay System - Bluetooth Maintenance: - New alternator (previous owner ~2010) - New radiator, hoses, etc. (previous owner ~2010) - New OEM fuel filter (previous owner 4/2012) - Climate control unit repaired (7/2012) - New shifter linkage and bushings (7/2012) - Re-wrapped headliner (7/2012) - Dyed rear deck black (7/2012) - Removed rusted driver rear shock tower and welded in OEM replacement (3/2013) - Painted differential cover black (8/2013) - New OEM differential bushings (8/2013) - New OEM driver axel boot (8/2013) - New OEM valve cover gasket (8/2013) - New Bosch starter (8/2013) - New headlight HID ballasts (7/2014) - New Nitto NeoGen front tires - less than 2,000 miles on them now; 95% tread remaining (9/2014) - Replaced passenger window regulator and motor (11/2014) - New OEM throttle cable (12/2014) - New rubber intake boot (5/2015) The Bad: - Gas pedal currently detached from floor: Due to rust, the bottom of the gas pedal snapped off from where it mounts to the floor. This causes the pedal to pop out of position under heavy acceleration, causing the revs to get stuck momentarily. You will need a new gas pedal (~$20 on eBay), and some metal work to cut out the rust and fabricate a new bracket. - Leaks oil / power steering fluid(?): Not exactly sure where the leak is coming from, and can’t tell if it is oil or power steering fluid. - Rear wheels rub / blown struts(?): Under heavy acceleration and cornering, the rear tires rub against the inside of the fenders. I thought this was because the DDM Tuning springs were too low, so I replaced them with Intrax springs, which aren’t quite as low. However, that did not fix the problem, so I assume the rear struts are blown. Or maybe the car just needs an alignment? - One stripped thread in passenger rear wheel hub; missing one lug bolt. - Rear tires are cording along the inner edge from camber wear and need to be replaced. - Dents on passenger front fender due to vandalism. - Small 1cm hole in trunk lid. Currently sealed with a rubber gasket to keep water out. - Window seals and trunk seal are chewed up but still function properly and keep water out. - Driver’s seat back is stuck and will not recline or lift forward. The motor still works fine, but it needs a new gear (~$15 on eBay). - Oxidation forming on hood, roof, and trunk lid, but this could likely be buffed out. - “Check coolant level” warning (needs new sensor). - Driver’s brake light bulb burnt out. - License plate bulbs burnt out. - Needs misc. small interior pieces. - Normal wear and tear on interior pieces and some scratches / chips / dents on exterior. *DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE* - $400 OFF asking price (new total = $6,850): I have a set of regular non-M 3-Series front and back black seats that I could swap into the car instead of the current ///M seats. - $150 OFF asking price (new total = $7,100): I could remove the 12” subwoofers and enclosure, as well as the 1200W amp and custom amp mount. You will still have all of the midrange speakers and the 600W amp. *Take both discounts for $600 OFF and a new total of $6,650!!!*
