1958 BMW Isetta 300 Deluxe #'s Matching Micro Car The BMW Isetta is truly one of the most charismatic and most entertaining micro cars ever made. In addition to its iconic status in modern pop culture it also has been climbing in value quietly and steadily and is expected to continue this course. This is an absolute first rate example and would make any collector proud to own. BMW 1958 Isetta 300, two-tone yellow and white w/tan interior, Original numbers matching 298cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, 4-speed manual w/reverse, exquisite body and nice chrome, brand new black wall tires, sliding windows, sunroof, luggage rack and deluxe vent on the door. Great Collector Car, full restoration The BMW Isetta was designed to be an efficient and affordable form of motorized transportation following World War II. BMW was primarily building large motor cars that were not selling well as there was a fuel shortage following the war. Some historians even claim that the Isetta kept the company alive during this time of scarce fuel. The Isetta remains one of the most memorable "microcars" that helped to mobilize a shattered postwar Europe. The BMW Isetta debuted in 1955 at the Frankfurt Auto Show alongside a giant BMW 505 Pullman Limousine, which must have created quite a scene at the BMW stand. While the Isetta sold quite poorly in Italy, the timing for BMW was perfect, as these little cars quickly became a fashion statement, and the Bundespost used them extensively as well. The Isetta quickly achieved cult status in the United States as well, where it was featured on a number of variety shows. BMW cranked out 160,000 cars from 1955 to 1964, and famous Isetta owners include Cary Grant and Elvis Presley. Weighing merely 770 pounds, the Isetta was powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder 298 cc air-cooled engine borrowed from BMWs motorcycle line. Nonetheless, it was capable of propelling the car to speeds exceeding 50 mph, achieving fuel consumption of 40 to 45 mpg. A contemporary road test by Road & Track also noted the Isettas low operating costs, mechanical robustness and ease of maintenance. Isettas are only seven feet, nine inches long, including their chrome plated nerf-bar bumpers, and only four and a half feet wide in all, they are barely larger than a standard sheet of plywood. Isetta owners were never at a loss for a parking space, contributing to their strong popularity among city dwellers. Finished in yellow/white with a tan interior, the Isetta presented here benefits from an older frame-off restoration. the door gasket was removed during the new paint job and was riped while removing. i have not installed a new one but one can be bought on eBay for around $50. Selling a 2010 Black BMW 328i sedan. This car has jet black exterior and black leather seats inside. It is in great shape overall and drives perfectly. Currently the mileage is 77,550 miles but I do drive it daily so expect the mileage to change, but not a whole lot. I have serviced this vehicle regularly with the local BMW dealership and everything works as it should. I welcome all reasonable offers so don't hesitate to contact me for additional information. Just as an FYI: I have owned the cars for the last 5 years and it has has been a real pleasure to drive. The vehicle has no issues what so ever but will be sold as is since I am a private seller. Also note the carfax shows two incidents with the vehicle. As a full disclosure these were both very minor bumps that occurred over 3 years a go...one when my car was parked and somebody backed into the rear bumper. The second when somebody's car rolled into to my back bumper when I was stationary at a traffic light. They were very minor bumps and both times I had the bumper replacement/repair done through the BMW body shop and up to their high standards. Car looks great.
