Now keep in mind this is not some Average E36 M Coupe that's been through the Trade-in/Wholesale/Dealer routine. This is from some Enthusiast's small collection and who's intention was to build for keeps, but life sometimes changes direction through the years. These things are only going up in value from now, so I wouldn't necessarily expect the buyer to be driving it on a daily basis, but that's not my call........ Look at what the E30's are going for. Advertised on Autolocater for $14,900. Now losing storage (at least in the garage) and it's not the type of car I'd leave sitting outside. SEE LINK >>> link http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?ownerId=69844873&searchRadius=0&listingId=400242720 Bored, honed, and New rings, spark plugs, Head Gasket, oil pan gasket and all related gaskets. New clutch installed because it did show wear and what better time to do it than when the engine is out. You can tell by the interior that it was adult, non-smoker owned due to cleanliness and detail. Don't know of any prior damages, did notice the Vin# on all the front end parts, fenders, hood, & even the front bumper cover has the matching Vin# tag. Bonus, comes w/ an indoor car cover, two keys, the tool box is complete. Only year an E36 M car came out w/ OBDI emissions and an iron block. Valid PA Inspection until May 2016 .... NO check engine light on, or any other warning light for that matter. Simple basic tasteful mods only.... Turner ECU chip, larger Mass Air, cold air intake, ALL aluminum radiator and high volume water pump, BORLA cat-back exhaust. Absolutely well-done audio system (if that floats your boat, but I can't take credit for that one)--- Alpine retractable Head unit/screen (Navigation capability), Alpine in-trunk CD changer, two 800w Kenwood Amps, and All JL Audio speakers including some removable box in the trunk containing two subwoofers On May-19-15 at 23:48:59 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, Update..... had a few questions from interested buyers and to be fair to everyone without posting up who asked what, I'll just answer all here in this revision. The 'buy-it-now' is the only thing that is going to end the auction early. I think it's fair considering I searched the 'sold' listings for similar, and on the trader site similar 'asking' prices are 17K+. I just don't have the Luxury of proper storage to let it sit until it sells. This was my boss's car. Between the two of us it's been 'in the family' since 2008. The 83,000 miles last reported on the carfax was him transfering the title over to me. He didn't know the mileage exactly so estimated, it actually had 83,750. The 300+ since is me since the rebuild driving it Easy for the break-in period, nothing over 3000 Rpm is a must, and that's why I say the oil needs to be changed at 84,750. What happened? He broke it. Missed a shift from 3rd to 4th, putting it in second and said it just shut down. Well, the engine was done, according to the local BMW shop he towed it to, and they gave him some crazy estimate and offered to buy it from him. I just offered him more..... If I was rebuilding it (the engine) just to flip this car, I would have saved alot of time, research, and labor by just buying a used engine and swapping it out..... Now, there lies the dilemma. I'm building this for keeps, so where are you going to find one of these S50 engines w/ 85K or less (or believe someone claiming it w/ no evidence to back it up?). Only way to be sure, start from scratch. Anyone who follows these cars knows the S50 is basically a hopped up M50, bored, stroked, and cammed for one year here in the U.S. before OBDII went into effect in 1996 and BMW had to change everything. Instead of paying thousands for an engine I really know nothing about, I'm investing maybe just a little more for one I know everything about. That's a no-brainer for those of us fortunate enough to have the knowledge, tools and resources to handle such a project. The breakdown: Bought a 2.5L and tore it down to the bare block. Had Sigafoos Machine in Easton do the block work, bore to 3.0L spec and all. Sourced and bought a good rotating assembly and installed New rings. Bought reconditioned Head and swapped over S50 cams, trays, and (here's the part where I'm proud of myself for catching)--- Springs! Everybody says the heads are the same, just swap the cams.... not quite. S50 cams have higher lift which requires higher rate springs. The S50 redline comes on full between 7000 & 8000 RPM's, the standard 325i comes on full at about 6300 RPM's. Why? VALVE SPRINGS. Just another reason why you can't believe everything you read on Google. Anybody who's ever done these heads without addressing the springs would be killing the powerband these cams make and probably experience valve float before the redline! It's easy to forget them because it's quite a chore to R&R them with the way they're recessed into the heads, special tools required.....Assembled everything to spec. and running break-in oil right now w/ high Zinc additives. Wasn't happy w/ the way the clutch disc looked so I put the whole kit in while I was at it, Pressure Plate, Disc, Throwout Bearing, and since it's a manual needed the Pilot bearing as well. Did have request for more specific pictures but have limits, so I will try to swap some of the more important ones up tomorrow like the Driver's bolster is apparently a legitimate concern. Thanks! On May-22-15 at 09:30:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Attention, ALL interested M3 Fans: I've had several attempts from 'buyers' to quote them my lowest price to end the auction because it 'Guarantees the sale'. I know who these people are, usually dealers / re-sellers. My reserve is alot lower than the 'buy-it-now' and when it's met, the buy-it-now goes away! Don't let one of those guys pick this thing up for $10 or $11k, or next month you'll see it on here all professionally photographed and detailed sitting in one of those checked flag-floored showrooms w/ a sticker price of $17 or $18k !!! I've seen it before w/ other cars I was interested in, and didn't act or have my funds in order. My neighbors can't believe this car is from back in '95 On May-22-15 at 15:05:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Trying to add Photobucket pictures and videos >> better pics of seats, bolsters, etc. and a video with sound sitting in the car at start-up and idle, w/ a light revs w/ the door open. See the milage, lights go out, idles smoothly at an aMazing 600-650 rpm... shows excellent vacuum (you can't get a 100k+ to idle anywhere near there....http://s280.photobucket.com/user/stangbanger68/media/033_zpsegrremcl.mp4.html?sort=3&o=0 The last one there is the video but I'm having trouble loading/pasting/etc On May-22-15 at 15:38:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Another option is to send me an E-mail and I'll attach photos, etc. Just don't wait 'till the last minute, Sat & Sun Am ok. Those links only seem to work if you copy & paste just the address starting w/ the htt and drop everything else including the parenthesis.! Here you go, this should show all >>>>> s280.photobucket.com/user/stangbanger68/library/ I'll start adding more pics and video to that photobucket library shortly.... Everyone, PLEASE let me know that you all are finding that. If not, or link gets erased, I'll have to try something else. THANKS, AND HAVE FUN!!!!
