This is my 1970 Austin Mini. This was a 2 plus year restoration. This Mini was stripped down to the shell with the sub frames, glass & doors off and restored. Painted Lamborghini Telesto Grigio gray. This is a really neat color, with a slight pearl and metallic flake. The top is painted Jaguar E type old english. Some of the highlights are: -Electric full length Webasto sunroof-Cooper S front disc brakes - new-Mini fin rear brake drums -new (new wheel cylinders, hoses & wheel bearings)-Complete Newton Commercial special ordered red interior. Seats, door panels, dash w/new dash pad, headliner (not installed), and carpets-Adjustable lower A arms, adjustable tie rods, new rubber cones, high/low adjusters, and adjustable shocks-all new, of course all bushings front & back are new.-(4)10X6 Minator wheels & A008 165/70/10 tires - new 1275 bored out .40 with Mini Mania pistons. 1370cc. A complete balance and assembly along with a magnetic particle inspection was done by a top 3 generation old school machine shop. $1185 in labor alone on the short block. New Minimania Russell engineering pistons, new oil pump, Megadyne 276 road rally cam, lightened flywheel, stage 2 head, new Maniflow LCB header & ceramic coated, new fan blade & new copper 4 core radiator, gear reduction starter, new hoses and belts, new orange diaphragm rally clutch, slave unit and hose are new, new duplex timing chain & gears. New motor mounts. 5 speed transmission. New. This was a really expensive part of the build, but super cool. The Minimania current list is $5500 + $150 core. 3.44 final drive and when put into 5th it goes down to 3.1! The build included Cooper S emblems, old style tail lights, grille and trim, stainless bumpers with over riders, new door handles, all weather stripping including on the doors is new. New front windshield and new glass on both doors. New headlight rings, wipers, washer spray nozzles. Things that come to mind still not done are: horn installed, headliner installed (Newton Commercial included) & some decent floor mats of your choice. This car has literally only a few test miles since completion. Still in the break in period. History wise on the car, this is the second time I have owned it. I bought it back when it was first imported in 2000, sold it in 2004 and bought it back in 2010. Originally this car competed and raced in the Snowdonia Mountains in Wales. I still have many of the original MOTS, paperwork and the license plate. It's been a really fun car, easy to work on, and a blast to drive. The Woods & Pickett fender flares can be removed easily if you like. I couldn't make my mind up which way to go, so I painted the car without them. (4) 10X5 Mini wheels also come with it (one is being used as a spare), a new vintage license plate frame & a few other parts. The center caps on the car presently are Lamborghini and I do have new caps that say MINI if you prefer. I have spared nothing on the build. I built it to keep. The build cost in parts alone is less than the reserve/buy it now. Lovingly cherished & only for sale because I'm moving to a house with substantially less garage space. I bought this car five years ago in Miami form a collector — he was selling it for a German. I drove it back to Kentucky but blew a head in Tennessee, so I had to have the engine completely rebuilt (about $6,000). Shortly afterwards I was rear-ended at a stoplight, so I had to have the back repainted. Apart from that (!) the car has never had a single problem, although I've only put a few thousand miles on it. I have a classic Triumph motorbike, so I had the Mini's bonnet stripes painted to match it (black hood with white stripes and very, very subtle gold pinstriping — it's stunning to see). I also had rally lights professionally installed on the front grille. The car runs beautifully and I've used it as a daily driver during nice weather. As mentioned, I had no hesitation driving it over 1,000 miles from Miami to Louisville (the engine blew because a hose came loose). The interior is fine, but it could be redone. It's got a walnut dashboard that has a crack in it, and the original oatmeal carpet, which doesn't fit very well. There's no rust anywhere on the car or inside / underneath it. It runs like a scalded dog and shifts wonderfully. My mechanic is highly respected in classic car and racing circles, and he's more than happy to vouch for its integrity.
