Sharing a sublimely detailed body with its sibling, the Super, the 1300TI features a sonorous 1.3 liter twin cam engine equipped with a single Weber downdraft carburetor. A five-speed gearbox and disc brakes all around give these eager cars some real ability, as with all Giulias they are a huge pleasure to hustle down winding back roads. Inside, the instrument binnacle is a simplified version of those on the 1600cc cars, housing beautiful Jaeger gauges, while the front fascia is similarly pared down to twin headlights and an elegant three slat grill. Considered very economical and practical classics, these Giulia sedans will comfortably seat four adults and enjoy a very spacious trunk when compared with their coupe brethren. Despite their upright dimensions, the cars have a very low coefficient of drag for the era, famously outperforming many sportier designs in the wind tunnel. CONDITION AND HISTORY: Living in Italy before moving to the Netherlands several years ago, this 1300TI is a very well maintained and original example. Finished in Dutch Blue with a gray cloth/black vinyl interior (known as Panno e Finta Pelle Grigio Marezzato, or marble gray), the archives indicate the car was first sold in Monza, Italy during September of 1968. Its Touring Club Italiano stickers on the rear window indicate membership during the mid 1980's, a nice memento of the car's history. Recently serviced at Euro Tec in Livingston, NJ, the car is in fantastic mechanical condition, a strong driver that recently completed several 50+ mile journeys without any issues. The correct 1300 twin cam engine and single downdraft carb are eager to please and sound even better than larger displacement Alfas of the era, a low burble culminating in a screaming rasp that belies its modest size. The five-speed box shifts well with no synchro issues and is complemented by a solid clutch, while the ATE disc brakes and sporty suspension all perform very well. The car holds temperature consistently and is not a smoker, though it does have a minor, intermittent oil leak underneath. The previous owner claims the paint is original everywhere except the hood, which was given a high-quality respray due to stone chips. The car is in excellent condition throughout, the only noteworthy blemish being a small dent/scuff mark on the passenger door. The wheels are in good shape too, with nice chrome caps and presentable silver paint, while all badges, grill pieces, and bumpers appear correct and with just the right level of patina. Most likely a part off of a later car, the side mirror is the only non-original trim piece. Underneath, the car is straight and solid, though there is a small patch of surface corrosion in front of the left rear jack point. The spare wheel well is in good condition, however in the right rear corner of the trunk floor a small patch of rust is evident. The rest of the trunk looks to have benefitted from rustproofing along the seams and around the gas tank. Inside, the 1300TI has all the right original trim, down to the embossed Alfa rubber floor mats. With flawless veneers, a perfect dash top, and the gorgeous black lacquer steering wheel, the car makes the most out of its airy, light-filled cabin. There is also a beautiful, period Autovox radio, not currently connected but seemingly complete (the telescoping antenna remains installed out back). The driver's seat has some splits in the cloth upholstery, though the passenger's seat and rear bench look pristine without any damage. The Jaeger gauges and all electronic accessories are in good working order, and the odometer reads 93,717 kilometers (58,233 miles). As it's only a five-digit display, this may exceed its mechanical limits, though given the condition of the car it seems unlikely to have rolled over. As with all cars listed for sale at Mid-Century Motoring, this vehicle has already been imported and is available immediately with a US title/transferrable registration in hand. With a punchy 1300cc engine, twin Weber carbs, and a shorter 5th gear, these cars differ from the grand touring nature of the Sprint GT and GTV. Eager to rev and supremely nimble, the GT Junior experience has been compared to driving a go-kart. Towards the end of the 60's the other 105 series coupes began losing their trademark stepnose front end, but the GT Junior soldiered on, making later Juniors the youngest and most advanced stepnose coupes ever produced. Certain trim features define the model, including a single horizontal bar on the grill, delicate two-spoke steering wheel, and embossed Alfa rubber mats instead of carpets. CONDITION AND HISTORY: A lifelong Italian example, this GT Junior received a full restoration before being purchased by a Dutch collector two years ago. Sporting a stunning Giallo Ochre exterior and black vinyl interior (the original combination according to the Alfa archives), as well as its factory-spec 1300 engine, Webers, and shortened five speed, the car is nothing short of a time capsule. Mechanically in top condition, the Junior recently completed a perfect three-hour round trip journey to Angelina's Italian Car Show on Staten Island. The engine revs as every 1300 should, the ATE disc brakes are confidence inspiring, and the car handles exceptionally well on its upgraded GTA mag-style wheels (each in pristine, as-new condition). The five-speed gearbox has a smooth action with no crunching, though the shift gaiter design does cause the car to pop out of reverse on occasion. Oil pressure and engine temperature are spot on at all times as indicated by the beautiful Veglia gauges. The body and paint have hardly aged at all since leaving the restoration shop, though there are a few minor flaws to note. Next to the driver door handle there's a small stress crack in the paint, a common problem with the inset handle design on the 105 coupes. Underneath the front bumper there is also a small dent towards the left front wheel. Thanks to a pampered post-restoration lifestyle (and a heavy duty, color-coordinated underseal) the car is rust free, though there is a tiny spot of bubbling near the front corner of the passenger door, an area vulnerable to moisture that is nevertheless easy to work on if necessary. Everything is straight, shiny, and fresh, with very nice panel gaps and a spotless underside complete with factory style welds in the rockers. The car's chrome, especially the bumpers, presents very well. Inside, the car features the flat dash design as opposed to the later binnacle style. The wood veneer and dash tops are in great shape, and the black lacquer steering wheel is the correct two-spoke edition. Above, what looks to be the original headliner lends a warm patina, while fresh vinyl seats and correct rubber floor mats complete the look. There are very few signs of wear on the interior, a small scuff on the back seat and a slight seam separation near the gear lever being the extent of it. All electrics function well, including wipers, lights, heater blower, and horn. As it was in Europe, the car does not currently have seatbelts installed, though the mounting points for front shoulder belts are present and ready to go. The odometer reads 59,946 kilometers, or 37,248 miles. Given that these cars only display five digits, the mileage could potentially exceed its mechanical limits. Also included are the gorgeous Dutch historic plates, including two different front sizes. As with all cars listed for sale at Mid-Century Motoring, this vehicle has already been imported and is available immediately with a US title/transferrable registration in hand. GT Junior: Fully Restored "Flat Dash" in its Original Giallo Ochre ColorYear1968MakeAlfa RomeoModelOtherVINAR1217627Stock Number61402Mileage37248TransmissionManualEngine4 Cylinder, 1.3 LExterior ColorYellowInterior ColorBlackTitleClearMODEL OVERVIEW: Despite its origins as a work-around for Italian taxes on engine displacement, the GT Junior (Tipo 105.30) ended up a tantalizing Alfa offering. CONDITION AND HISTORY: This particular Giulia 1300TI lived in Italy for most of its life, as evidenced by a solid, straight body and some very cool stickers on the windows. According to the records at Alfa's Centro Documentazione, the car was delivered in Parma, Italy, during June of 1969. It retains its original color scheme, a rich burgundy Faggio exterior complemented by a Wild Boar vinyl interior. Mid-Century Motoring takes a lot of 60's Alfas for test drives during our trips abroad. Even among restored cars the driving experience of this 1300TI ranks among the best, delivering the kind of satisfaction that only originality and strict maintenance can accomplish. From the flawless synchros (yes, even 2nd gear), to the strong clutch and direct steering, this car represents classic motoring undiluted by age. The engine pulls hard and sounds fantastic, the single Weber carb lending a great burble to the exhaust note. Brakes are in great shape with very good pedal feel, and the suspension performs well with capable body control and damping. The bottom of the radiator does weep small amounts of coolant intermittently, however the car keeps temperature consistently and does not leak during operation. The well-maintained body has benefitted from a full rust-proofing treatment several years ago, while underneath the rockers, floor pans, and spare wheel well are solid and corrosion-free. Factory welds appear throughout, with no signs of accident damage. Resplendent in its deep burgundy hue, the paint presents well, though the hood, trunk lid, and roof show some water-spotting/staining in the clearcoat and there are a few small bubbles near the base of the drivers/front passengers door. All four doors shut with authority and the panel gaps are acceptable throughout. Inside, the seats have a warm patina and are a great contrast to the Faggio exterior. The front passenger seat shows a few small splits on the sides, while the rear benchs headrest has some minor sun damage viewable through the back window, though the seating surface itself is unaffected. The dash top and wood veneers are in perfect condition, as is the thin-rimmed black lacquer steering wheel. Instead of the rubber mats that came as standard in these cars, the previous owner upgraded to a very pretty set of Alfa Romeo carpets. All trim/badging is present and the chrome is in good shape with only minor wear. The lights, indicators, wipers, and heater blower all function properly, as does the push/pull parking brake. The odometer currently reads 38,550 kilometers, however we believe it has exceeded its mechanical limits, with 138,550 km (86,090 miles) a more likely evaluation. As with all cars listed for sale at Mid-Century Motoring, this vehicle has already been imported and is available immediately with a US title/transferrable registration in hand.
