I wanted a TRUE HOT ROD and that's what I built. CAR IS IN A FLAT WHITE PRIMER SLIGHT PATINA AND IT DOES HAVE SOME CHIPPED PAINT FROM WHEN I WAS PUTTING THE HOOD BACK ON BUT THIS IS NOT A TRAILER QUEEN......TAKE THIS TO A CAR SHOW AND YOU WILL GET EVERYONE WATCHING AS YOU PULL IN AND LEAVE... THIS CAR RAN HIGH 10's TWO YEARS AGO WITH A 318 in it...( YOUTUBE: 10 second 318 at byron) ( OLD MOTOR BEING PULLED IN PICTURE) NOW IT's a real non stroked 340 that makes about 450 HP it runs high 11's in the 1/4 mile on motor. It will run deep in the 10's with a little spray. 3.23:1 sure grip 489 case with DOCTOR DIFF race axles and a 1350 forged pinion yoke 1350 BILLET forged front pinion with an aluminum drive shaft. It has wilwood disk brakes all the way around. Brand new M&H street Drag Radials, Car lights them up from a 30 mph roll with out the nitrous WITH TIMING SET AT 34 DEGREES. Just the motor and trans converter and headers cost over 13 grand. Aluminum radiator, brand new water pump, car has power steering and power brakes. IT COULD USE A 7/8" MASTER CYLINDER BECAUSE THE DUAL DIAPHRAGM 1" BORE one I have doesn't have enough line pressure for the wilwoods has new front bearings, and rear, the car has been 140 MPH.( STILL will do 130 in the 1/4 mile and stop fine) I have sprayed it twice for testing with conservative timing on the street with this new motor and they were quick tests to check the wide band and plugs. All cylinders test perfect and equal on compression!! DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THIS MOTOR BEING BEAT ON, I HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH NITROUS FOR 20 YEARS...IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU WILL NOT HURT ANYTHING. IT IS SET UP FOR A 150 SHOT. I CUSTOM BUILT AN E85 CARB MYSELF AND THE FUEL SYSTEM ALONE COST OVER 2 GRAND. Its a 650 annular booster carb with a mallory 250 pump, has a 5/8 fuel line. BRAND NEW 1 WIRE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR, BRAND NEW OPTIMA BATTERY, RX CATCH CAN, BILLET PULLIES The motor is a true street motor as I drove this car from Chicago to Cape Coral Florida with high zinc Lucas break in oil to break it in. ALWAYS HAS HAD A WIDE BAND IN IT, ALWAYS HAVE RAN IT IN TUNE...E85 READS THE SAME AS GAS...WHOLE CAR IS STEEL BUMPERS, HOOD IS STEEL...FIBERGLASS REAL HEMI HOOD SCOOP.....HAND PAINTED REAL SILVER LEAF PLYMOUTH LOGO, NUMBERS, AND MR HORSEPOWER... I am installing a brand new trans this weekend that is a full manual reverse valve body with a trans brake. ( I don't like trans brakes but it came with it ) The motor is a .060 over 13:1 compression forged everything. ( ALL AMERICAN FORGED PARTS ) H BEAM RODS FORGED TRW PISTONS ARP EVERYTHING MILODON PAN Motor will go to 7000 no problem but likes to be shifted at 6400 RPM. EDELBROCK AIR GAP INTAKE EDELBROCK ALUMINUM HEADS, SOLID CAM 248 duration @ .050 .525 comp cams 294S ( SOUNDS AWESOME JUST RE ADJUSTED VALVES) mancini harland sharp roller rockers, brand new high volume water pump installed with 100 miles on it( changed from electric) PERFECT COMPRESSION TEST EACH CYLINDER CRANKS TO 210 PSI EQUALLY, ALSO YOU CAN RUN THIS MOTOR ON PUMP GAS AT 34 DEGREES OF TIMING. ( JUST CHANGE CARB ) I SWITCHED TO E85 BECAUSE I LIKE IT, SMELLS GREAT AND ITS CHEAP RACE GAS, RUNS COOLER, safer tuning window, etc. This car has 3" electronic dumps for when you want to open the exhaust. has a line lock, a purge for the nitrous, has 18" wheels all around for the lowered look and yes it ran 10's on 18" mickey thompsen drag radials. Interior has a B&M ratchet shifter with front aftermarket seats... full interior no roll bar. Drivers side had floor pan installed because these cars had a known problem with windshield wiper gaskets. JUST A REALLY COOL NEAT RIDE!!! AND A TRUE AS* KICKER!! Has very efficient 8" nitrous converter ( $1,200.00) fine for the street or highway trans is a FRESH RACE 904 with a BILLET DRUM ( BRAND NEW TRANS) ($2,700.00) just the TTI headers cost $850.00 for this car....two nitrous bottles in the trunk with ZEX PERIMETER PLATE...driver door could use adjustment but latches fine and has new pins... NEW Super Stock springs with new hardware, New hangers, bushings, and rear anti sway bar, NEW KYB SHOCKS welded sub frame connectors. Has Viper Alarm, gas, vacuum, tach, temp, oil pressure gauges work, speedometer will work with new cable. Has drive shaft loop brand new sump installed in gas tank, and I have never washed the rubber off the rear fenders over the 4 years I have owned the car....I think it looks neat...I removed the gas pedal so it is just the metal tab and I like it better more precise...ALSO I INSTALLED A FLIP TOP GAS CAP WITH ADAPTER FROM AN 69 R/T CHARGER...ITS COOL MOTOR IS JUST BROKEN IN < WITH A BRAND NEW TRANS. This custom build has the 440 V8 heart of a true street-eating beast. This is also a very solid car which runs out excellent. One look at the floor pans, the laser straight body, and the glossy paint and you know you're dealing with a Barracuda that's a cut above the rest! Before we dive into the beastly side of this Barracuda, let's appreciate the first impression this car gives off. The pillarless hardtop is a staple of muscle car style. Plus, on the 1968 models we see the first hints at the iconic styling touches that would be exaggerated for the '70s 'Cudas like the power bulge in the hood and the wide, narrow rear bodywork. Actually, the fastback model outsold the hardtop coupes like this one in 1968, so there's even a rarity factor here. But above all, the restoration to this Barracuda has created such as laser-straight body that it's superior to anything that was coming out of Chrysler's Hamtramck factory in '68. Still, the first thing that attracts you to this coupe at first sight likely is the staggered stance and the period-correct American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. The interior is just like the exterior by being subtle and supple, and it would rather let the motor do the aggressive talking. The seats are an elegant white vinyl that's comfortable enough that this full-size Mopar can carry the whole family with dad and mom enjoying the high-back buckets up front. Chrysler stylists in the '60s were at the top of their game. Like the body, it's simple and unadorned, but the detailing and shapes are brilliant. A comprehensive set of gauges are easily visible through the slender steering wheel spokes. Everything looks amazingly original, and everything functions from the heat/defrost controls to the factory AM radio. But if you look towards the end of the center console, there's a hint at what this coupe is really about. Perched right where the driver can see it clearly is a new Autometer tachometer with large readout - a clear sign that there is some major power up front. Be prepared for shock and awe at plenty of car shows as you lift the hood and display the 440 cubic-inch big block V8 in this exceptionally tidy engine bay. Plymouth would offer the Formula S model with an optional 440 in 1969, but even that car did not have a six-pack like this one. So this custom build is about giving you the setup the factory wouldn't. But this more than just a monster motor with the perfect carburetor setup. This power plant has upgrades that include an MSD ignition, thermo-coated steel 440 crankshaft, 440 Six-Pack connecting rods, '70-71 Six Pack pistons (10.6 to 1 compression), and a Mopar Performance Six-Pack camshaft. It makes one heck of an intimidating rumble out of the H-pipe dual exhaust. This is connected to a modified version of Mopar's stout Torqueflight 727 three-speed automatic. The power is then sent to the Dana 60 Richmond rear end that's running a 3.73 ratio for great takeoffs. But of course power is nothing without control, and so this Barracuda comes with front disc brakes and Goodyear Eagle tires at all four corners. Cars with a clear purpose for dominating the streets rarely are this easy to live with. Mopar Valve Covers. Stock 340 Air cleaner. Lots of power runs excellent and is a very dependable driver. Plenty of power and Torque. Transmission is a 727 Automatic. Rebuilt same time as engine. Positrac Rear. Power Steering. Power Disc Brakes. A/C But missing Compressor and hoses. New compressor under $200.00. Interior has new upholstery, seats, carpet, headliner. Dash has a hard original looking dash cap on it and a dash mat to keep cool in sun. Guages work. Speedo and odometer work. Door panels are original and very nice condition. Center console with a cool Pistol Grip shifter. The body is a older repaint from the 90's and has the cuda buldge dual scoop hood. Nice hood. Where the body is showing wear is on the original quarters. Where they are put on at factory up on roof they used lead back then. It sinks over time and has a few bubbles. The very bottom on the quarter panels are staring to bubble up from age. Bottom of doors have a few bubbles, right quarter has some rust starting above the wheel well. Not bad for 30 year old paint. It's black so it can be spotted in. Paint still shines nice. 340 stripe on side decal. Has No rust in the engine compartment. as this is a common place on these. Floors are solid. Frame and torsion bar are solid, This is one very nice solid car with minor paint issues. The car has always lived in Florida. Before you is a stunning 1970 Plymouth Baracuda convertible. This is a car folks that you are going to see coming and hear coming a mile away. This is just one fun beauty to drive. One of the first things that caught our eye about this car was the eye popping yellow paint. It gleams miles deep and was done really well. There are no rips or tears in the interior or in the convertible top. If you grew up in the 60's and 70's then you remember the pistol grip shifters that were all the rage then and still are today. We just can't say enough how fun this car is to drive. Under the shaker hood resides 360 Cubic inches of Mopar fun putting out 390 HP and believe us when we tell you that you feel every ounce of them when you step on the gas. This is matted to a Tremec 5 speed transmission which is going to give you the ability to cruise down the highway, after you bang some gears at the drag strip. The looks of this car just keep on going with the 18" wheels up front as well as the 20" wheels in the rear. Now we know that with all of the go this car has it also needs to whoah. That is accomplished with front power disc brakes that will stop you on a dime and leave change. All of the handling up front is handled by some well appreciated power steering. We all know that you would not want to have to turn this car with manual steering. The sounds of this car are something to behold as well. While you are cruising down the road listening to the beautiful rumble of those 360 cubic inches you can crank up the tunes in your custom stereo. With a nice head unit in the dash and an amp and sub in the trunk your ears will just be in heaven between the two. Now every car of this age has a little something wrong with it here and there, and all this one has is that it needs a new sending unit put in the tank so that the gas gauge will work properly. Right now when it is full it shows half a tank. That is the only thing that is "wrong" with this car. This car is just an amazing piece of machinery to drive. You hear the awesome tunes, you feel the horsepower in your butt, hands, and feet. This car is sensory overload and it is all fun you can handle.
