Tell You Heart Heads Up Geneva, March 16 1961. Jaguar unveils that star of the Auto show, a 150 mph race-bred monocoque sports car with independent rear suspension, disc brakes and styling that would become an icon of the 60s. Its name is the Jaguar E-type (or XKE as it will be better known in the United States). Then on May 7, 1968, this particular “Series 1.5” car rolled off of the assembly line in Coventry, England bound for the U.S. Could its builders have imagined then that this car would command the roads well into the next millennium? Although an icon of beauty, this car has been restored to be driven. Affectionately (and with tongue in cheek) known as "Bad Kitty", this E-Type features quite a few all-Jaguar upgrades and enhancements from its full restoration in 2006 that respect the vintage of the car. The transmission is a 5-speed CJ5 unit from Classic Jaguar in Austin, Texas, specifically designed for E-Types with modern features like carbon fiber synchro rings. The original engine was completely rebuilt (light-weight flywheel, new cams, head, & larger valves) and balanced after a triple-Weber carb conversion. Also added were a custom A/C system from Retro A/C, Securon retractable locking three-point seat belts, and an upgraded charging system. Aesthetically, the car has Dayton six-inch wire wheels with Series 1 "eared" knock-off hubs, new (2006) interior upholstery, new (2006) headliner, and new (2006) paint in the car's original Opalescent Silver Gray Metallic color.Aesthetically, the car exudes class and sophistication without being pretentious. But the key differentiator of this car over most other E-Types currently on the market is the way it drives. Bad Kitty is a thoroughbred that is ready for action at the turn of its key. This is a no-excuses high-quality driver whose driving experience is more mechanically immersive than any modern sports car. You get it, turn the key, and go...and go fast you will! But its most impressive feature is inspiration. Watching the dawn light flow over Bad Kitty’s sumptuous compound curves, you'll soon know what all the fuss is about, and why this is an automotive icon.NOTE: Not recommended for those whose hearts are not healthy enough for sex, as both looking at and driving Bad Kitty can induce fainting spells. Car Name: Bad Kitty Year, Make & Model: 1968 Series 1.5 E-Type FHC. (Jaguar does not officially recognize the "Series 1.5" designation, but instead considers these the last of the Series 1s. Enthusiasts, collectors, and even the Jaguar Club of North America (JCNA) use the Series 1.5 moniker for cars made for model-year 1968 because of the significant changes made to the car to improve reliability, and satisfy U.S. safety& emissions regulations that would take effect in 1969. The exterior is the essentially the same as almost all other Series 1 cars made from 1961 - 1967. The big changes were to the cooling system, dash, and headlights.) Chassis Number (used for VIN): 1E35328 NOTE: The VIN number of title matches the chassis number on the data plate. However, the actual chassis number stamped on the "bird cage" front frame section is 1E35528 (one digit off). The Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust rendered an opinion supporting the conclusion that there is an error on the data plate. A curious and rare occurrence, but not unheard of. There is no issue with title, nor any contention over the match of the numbers. A copy of their opinion is included in the documentation to be supplied with the car.) The Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust issues Heritage Certificates that officially confirm a Jaguar's identification numbers, date of manufacture, delivery destination, and even first owner. Bad Kitty's Heritage Trust Certificate will come with the car. The original mileage is not known, as the odometer was reset during the 2006 restoration. Since then, 19,039 miles have been put on the clock.

This stunning early E-Type is offered for sale on the classic car market for the first time. I have owned this special car for 28 years. I rescued it from a Los Angeles scrapyard in 1987, it then received a proper full restoration and was placed back into service in 1990. I have shown, driven, and maintained it ever since. The car is now located in Madison, Wisconsin. I am not a dealer, this is the only classic car I own, and I have put an untold amount of my own sweat, blood, and money into it over the years. Due to the rate at which this early and beautiful E-Type is increasing in value, I have reluctantly decided it is time for me to sell it and find a new project. In its current condition (Condition 2 if not better, in my estimation), it has won numerous trophies and people’s choice awards. I have been asked to bring this car to multiple invitation-only concours d'elegance, the most recent being the Milwaukee Masterpiece in August of this year (as seen in one of the photos). With a small additional investment (compared to its ultimate value), I believe this car would be a JCNA or concours winner at any venue, if that is the buyer's desire. It is incredibly beautiful to look at, but this car also has been kept in proper tune and maintained for spirited driving. It has lived in a temperature controlled garage since its restoration, with about 10,500 miles driven during those 25 years. This car showcases the timeless lines and performance of the E-Type as beautifully as any example you will ever see. I fully intend to sell this car and would like it to go to the buyer it deserves. I believe I have set a very fair Buy Now price, and I expect the car will sell at that price. Again, I am not a dealer, and I have no desire to play games. For anyone interested in purchasing or making an offer, I strongly encourage you to call me first, as I will only sell to a buyer I feel comfortable with. If you have a history of bid retractions or other eBay problems, please don’t bother trying to purchase this car, as I will not sell to you. I will happily answer questions, and I expect potential buyers will do the same. I have included many photos in this listing (and others are available upon request). Please examine them, read the description below, and feel free to contact me if you are interested or have questions. I would love to discuss this car with any serious buyer. My telephone number is (608) 848-5333, please ask for Tom. At my full discretion, this listing may end early. Please read the description and terms of sale below BEFORE making an offer or purchasing. DESCRIPTION: This is an early E-Type, car number 885444, the 444th left-hand drive coupe to leave the factory, manufacture date January 9, 1962. It has flat floors and square rear bulkhead, along with other less obvious features of early E-Types. This car does not have outside bonnet locks or welded bonnet louvers. I have a personal letter (dated 1988) from Jaguar at Browns Lane confirming the car’s history, as well as the car’s Heritage Certificate. I have traced the car’s history back to its original owner in Seattle. All historical documentation, restoration records and receipts are included with this sale, along with a tool roll (non-original but including some period tools), jack, two car covers, and a large assortment of small spare parts. Engine: After its initial rebuild by a local shop in 1989, a valve failure led to a second major rebuild of this car’s 3.8 liter engine in 2004, only about 3,500 miles ago. It is possibly the last XK engine to be rebuilt by the late John Miller of Straight Six Jaguar in California, one of the truly iconic Jaguar men. He rebuilt this engine to stock 9:1 specifications. It is really just coming out of its break-in period and pulls very strongly. I have fitted a modern spin-on oil filter conversion, as well as a gear-reduction starter, but still have the originals. I do not believe the block and head to be original to this car, numbers do not match. This car has what I consider a typical amount of oil drip from the usual places. Gearbox: The original Moss box has been very reliable. Synchromesh is strong on third and top gears, solid on second if the driver knows what he or she is doing. I have noticed no inappropriate noises. Suspension, Rear Axle & Steering: This car is fitted with 3.31 rear axle, as far as I know it was shipped from the factory with this option. Koni shocks on all four wheels. The rebuilt steering rack is precise and responsive. Exhaust: Exhaust system is stock configuration, upgraded with stainless mufflers. The exhaust manifolds were recently coated by Jet-Hot, an attractive and durable compromise for a driven show car, compared to the poor quality porcelain coatings now available. Cooling: A high volume puller fan has been fitted, with remote switch under dash. The heater core and bulkhead pipes have been bypassed as I have had no need for a heater. I do not know if the heater core or fan motor are serviceable, as I’ve never examined or tested them. The original alloy radiator was functional when I originally restored the car, but I have since fitted a more modern replacement that looks proper and has worked very well for me. The rare original radiator is included with this sale. Fuel System: Rust-free system, sealed fuel tank, all fuel lines recently replaced. The original immersed fuel pump is in place (serviceability unknown) but the car uses an external SU pump which has been fitted inside the right rear quarter panel. The triple SU carbs are in excellent and reliable tune. Brakes: Stock system, upgraded with stainless steel brake lines and Green Stuff pads. The brake and clutch systems use silicone fluid. Wheels & Tires: At the time of restoration, four new chrome wire wheels were fitted, sealed for tubeless tires, with polished stainless steel spokes and nipples for strength and a deep luster. The car is currently fitted with four Michelin XWX 185/70VR15 (very high speed rated) tires, which give superb grip and performance. Paint & Chrome: During restoration, this car received extensive professional sheet metal repairs on a rotisserie jig using proper new panels. It left the factory with cream paint and a red interior. Now, the classically beautiful paintwork is a modern, clear-coated Opalescent Silver Gray blend. This car has a deep silver-gray luster in the shade and shines with a stunning and elegant yellow, blue and green opalescence in the sunshine. At 25 years post-restoration, the paintwork and chrome appear shockingly fresh. An excellent professional repair (and respray) of a small dent was performed in the bonnet center section this summer. Interior: Gray leather seats, vinyl, moquette, hardura and carpet. Proper polka-dot alloy dash and console. Original toggle switches. Electrical: Converted to negative ground to accommodate an electronic tach generator (original instrument body retained for appearance). Upgraded with LED bulbs in gauges, instruments and panel. This car is beautiful, but no car is perfect. In addition to the description above, the following are several of the car's known imperfections. Note this is not an exhaustive list or assessment of the car's condition. All interested parties should thoroughly read the description and terms in this listing, contact me with questions, and inspect the car before making an offer or Buy Now purchase:The door courtesy lights are not wired. The windshield wiper park switch is not wired (the rebuilt wiper motor does work at both speeds). There is a small dent and a sealed paint chip at the rear of the car. This occurred in the paint shop shortly after painting. Since it is essentially covered by the right rear bumper blade, I have never bothered to fix it.There is a small dent on the bottom of one lower front sub-frame member, caused by a jack-stand.There is a light ripple in the bodywork near the upper front corner of the passenger door. There is an intermittent click in the front suspension when turning at creeping speed. I presume it is due to uneven wear in the upper wishbones, which were one of the few components not replaced during the initial restoration (due to unavailability at the time). I ignore it, as I have never heard it at any driving speed and it does not affect steering precision or stability. The front floor carpets are new but not correct. This car is beautiful to look at, tremendous on the road, and a piece of early Jaguar history. I welcome serious enquiries only. PLEASE READ THE TERMS OF SALE BELOW. DO NOT MAKE AN OFFER OR BUY NOW PURCHASE UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THESE TERMS AND UNDERSTAND THEM. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANY OF THESE TERMS, PLEASE ASK ME. I reserve the right to end this listing early if the car is sold.Any descriptions or representations I may make are not to be construed as a warranty or objective assessment of the car’s current condition. Finished in ever-refined and factory original Pale Primrose over its original Black leather interior, this is undeniably one of the finest examples of a Series II E-Type we’ve ever come across. You will not be disappointed with this beautifully correct and original example. Acquired by the second owner in 1974, he would enjoy the car in its original state for nearly 20 years before commissioning an extensive exterior restoration with marque expert Lindley Restorations, Ltd. of Pottstown, Pennsylvania to the tune of more than $20,000 ($32k in today’s dollars). The restoration was performed at the highest level, most notably (amongst a laundry list of refurbishments) including a bare metal paint job in the car’s original factory Pale Primrose finish as well as a complete restoration of the car’s undercarriage. Since completion of the restoration, the second owner has cared for and maintained the car to a fanatical level, resulting in the exceptional example offered here today. The quality of Lindley’s work cannot be lauded enough. Had we not seen documentation and pictures of the restoration, we would have assumed the car’s undercarriage to be entirely original and factory flawless. The same can be said of the car’s laser-straight body, which retains correct and entirely consistent panel fits and gaps throughout, and after more than 20 years the Pale Primrose finish has incredible depth, luster and consistency, marred only by a few negligible imperfections that neither appear in any of the pictures nor detract from the car’s considerable appeal. All of the bright work is exceptional, the glass and rubber is in great shape and the original chrome wire wheels are wrapped in Michelin white wall tires with plenty of remaining tread. At the time of restoration, the car’s carpets were replaced, however the seats and interior panels are completely original, bearing only the patina of a well cared-for, sparingly driven example. The original wood steering wheel is free of any cracks, as is the dash, which houses a fully functional switch panel and gauges. The trunk cover is virtually flawless and underneath you’ll find the original full spare wire wheel and tire as well as the original changing tools. The car has also received extensive mechanical attention, with more than $7,000 having been spent within the last three years and 1,500 miles at Lippincott’s Garage, an E-Type specialist in Sinking Springs, PA. Completely sorted mechanically, the car is an absolute pleasure to drive, the original, numbers matching 4.2L engine starting easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the original transmission’s gears. Compression is excellent and even across all cylinders and the engine tone is as grin-inducing as the performance. Ride quality is excellent, the suspension and brakes each functioning as they should, and the car is a joy from behind the wheel, whether tooling through town, winding through the canyons or bombing down the highway. Of all the E-Types we’ve had, I can safely say that this is one of the strongest performing, most mechanically sound that we’ve ever had the pleasure to drive. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an aesthetically exceptional, numbers matching, two owner, 71k original mile, well documented, entirely solid and mechanically sound 1970 Jaguar Series II 4.2L E-Type FHC, finished in a timeless and attractive livery. The astronomical valuation jump that the Series I XKEs have realized in the past two years has continued to drive the appreciation of Series II cars, ensuring that this remarkable example will undoubtedly offer its next owner investment upside while providing years of enjoyment. If you’re in the market for an E-Type Coupe, this beautiful 1970 certainly deserves your consideration. We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed. Goodman Reed Motorcars We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

1962 JAGUAR E-TYPE XKE FIXED HEAD COUPE. 3.8 LITERS. 4-SPEED. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. ORIGINAL COLORS: BRONZE WITH BISCUIT TRIM. ALL #'S MATCH. CALIFORNIA BLACK LICENSE PLATES CAR FROM NEW. 73,000 ORIGINAL MILES. VIN # 885877. Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS, is this early 3.8 Liter E-type Fixed Head Coupe. It is LHD Coupe number 877. It is a full matching numbers car and appears to have left the factory in the attractive early color scheme of Bronze with Biscuit trim. It has had only one thorough repaint in it's current Willow Green. This car was recently discovered in an old body shop in Riverside County, California, and has been garaged indoors there from 1977 ! It has been off the road for the past 37 years. It has a license plate frame on the rear of the car from Peter Satori, a well-known dealer that sold these cars new in Pasadena, California. It still retains the pair of it's original issue black/yellow license plates. There is some old paperwork included with the sale of the car that links it to the existing license plates - testament to the fact that this car has been registered here from the beginning. The car has some interesting early features such as the Roadster style seats fitted, the straight rear interior bulkhead, and the early smooth air cleaner triangle. It is a full matching numbers car and an excellent candidate for straightforward restoration. The engine turns nicely by hand and appears to have never been removed from the car. The car has never been largely disassembled and is very complete, except for a missing radiator and windshield top molding. It retains a lot of it's original clamps, clips, hoses, etc. and would prove to be a very original car for the restorer going forward. This early attractive E-type has a very good, straight body with minimal rust, being a California car for all of it's life. The undercarriage and floors are mostly excellent. There is some rust-through under the spare tire area in the trunk, the front left corner of the driver's footwell, and a small section under the battery box area, but all easily repairable. The rest of the body appears excellent, straight and solid with no accident damage. Panel fit all around is very good with no issues. There is a group of parts pictured that is included with the car. The windshield and driver's door glass has been removed, looks to be in good order, and is included with the sale of the car. This original glass appears to have a green tint to it...The car still retains it's original VIN plate as well as the two additional smaller plates "J-62" and 'Made in England". We have supported the rear of the gearbox with wood for shipping purposes, but have recently found the early style bracket in the spare parts...Overall, this desirable early production E-type is a rare find and offering. It has an enviable California history from new and has been largely preserved, being stored in a dry climate for the last 37 years. It is a full matching numbers example and left the factory in a spectacular original early color scheme. It will prove to be a great investment going forward. This car is located in Southern California and can be inspected by appointment. It is sold with a clear and current CA title, along with some old registration cards from the 1970's. $59,750. 1970 JAGUAR E-TYPE XKE TWO-SEATER FIXED HEAD COUPE. 4-SPEED. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. ORIGINAL COLORS BRITISH RACING GREEN WITH BLACK LEATHER TRIM. Offered for sale, by KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS, here on Ebay, with a sensible price is a 1970 Jaguar E-type Fixed Head Coupe. The E type Jaguar is proving to be a good investment and the Series Two models are currently very good value. This vehicle for sale here was originally a handsome British Racing Green car with black trim, chrome wire wheels, 4-speed with possibly air conditioning. It was in the process of having some bodywork prepared, and is currently gold. The body appears very decent overall and relatively nice and straight. There has been a small bump underneath and on the nose, and to the right headlamp area, but all fixable. The rest of the car looks to be very decent and in good order, as seen by the photos. All exterior panels look very nice and solid. There is some rust-through on the dipped portion of both front floors, and some underneath the spare tire area on the outside. These areas are typical and can be easily repaired. The rest of the car's underside looks very good. I have posted undercarriage pictures for inspection. The doors and hatch lid fit exceptionally well, and the bonnet lines up pretty good. The interior trim is decent. The seats are trimmed in black leather, are in overall good shape, and have no tears or rips. The door panels and rear 1/4 panel area are the original material and look very nice. The dash top pad is very nice with no cracks. The dashboard facia panel has an added layer of wood veneer. The carpets could use replacing. All of the instruments and switches look good and are original. The front and rear windscreens were removed in preparation for paint, but are packed carefully and included with the car. Please look at the car and photos. A few items are missing such as the air cleaner can and collector box, some chrome trim, and the alternator. But the car is mostly there, as you can see by the photos. The 4.2 liter engine is stuck from sitting and the cylinder head has been loosely installed for shipping purposes. There are some factory A/C parts that are also included.Overall, an attractive E-type Two-Seater Coupe requiring some work. In this escalating Jaguar market, this car presents an economical opportunity to secure a worthwhile and exciting project with good upside potential. This car is located in Southern California and is sold with a clear title. $16,750.KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS. 909-920-9221, work. 909-241-1051, cell.
